  1. Honestly I don't see the overproduction OR understand the whole "chris martin solo album" thing. We know how the boys create these songs thanks to the bbc interview-- Chris comes to the band with an idea, a skeleton on a song, and then the band layers it up-- each adding their own parts. I am sure that chris did not tell anyone they couldn't play too much on the record, but rather they each decided individually when to tone it down based on the nature of the record. On another note, can we hold off on the criticism right now? I don't even have the disc in my hands and people are already tearing the poor thing to shreds...
  2. You hit the nail in the head :D
  3. Yeah, seriously.. Not to mention the jabs he takes at Coldplay's earlier works

Maybe look at the vocals differently? Put yourself in Chris' shoes and imagine the person you love lieing that they love you, when you know the truth. Close your eyes and listen to the strings. Tap your foot to the drum beat. Let's the synths carry away-- in the end, it's up to you whether or not you open your mind to appreciate the music. :) Hope that helps
  5. Finally, someone who can appreciate Jonny's solo for the genius work it is!
  6. I'm so happy to see you agree with me Kingzilla! I was starting to get depressed reading all the criticism thread's posts and it's refreshing to be around people who appreciate this art for what it is.
  7. It's a shame you didn't keep reading because I followed that by CLEARLY stating that that what I was about to say WAS my opinion. I invite you to look and see. Obviously tastes are tastes, but I THINK that electronic drums can be just as intriguing as real drums as long as the best isn't too simple and the sounds' dull (see Up In Flames). But the drum beats in ghost stories to me are complex, funky and unique. Please don't be offended by opinion though-- because I can totally understand and relate to yours (electronic drums used to anger me greatly)
  8. Opinion Opinion Opinion Opinion Opinion Opinion Opinion That is your opinion. My OPINION is that the drums are groovy and unique-- no two songs have the same drum samples and as yet because the entire album has electronic drums, it adds to the cohesiveness of the piece.

He starts out the notes playing out of key, but then bends them into the scale-- I believe it's supposed to represent sharp pangs of heartbreak that comes with the one you love lying to you when they really don't feel the same way.
  10. I found myself tearing up throughout multiple parts of the record such as in True Love, O Fly On), and in the outro of the album. The music made me nostalgic and sad, but ultimately inspired and excited to be living. This album is what Coldplay is all about and should go on to be considered a work of art.
  11. 1. True Love (10/10) 2. Ink (10/10) 3. Always in my head (10/10) 4. O (9.5/10) 5. A Sky Full of Stars (9.5/10) 6. Midnight (9/10) 7. Oceans (9/10) 8. Another's Arms (8.5/10) 9. Magic (8.5/10) Honestly I could have given all of these 10/10 because they're all so equally amazing-- each one I love in it's own way, but together the album is superb with the way they flow. This is Coldplay's finest work since AROBTTH, and I honestly think it's better than that tbh. There isn't a weak song on the entire album.
  12. On iTunes, the albums usually stream as one giant song cover to cover. If it's a FIRST PLAY, however, it will stream like a playlist with each song in order but with the ability to skip up to 6 songs every hour (kind of like a radio station on iTunes Radio, except just the album on loop.) I know this because I've listened to many FIRST PLAYS (which work like that) but also to iTunes streams, which would be the one giant track of the album.

+ 100 imho the studio version is superbly produced
  14. lol we've called the leak "imminent" for the past 30 hours and yet it still hasn't happened
  15. Thanks! :D So will you be my leak buddy then? :)
  16. I'll be your leak buddy IF you tell me what a leak buddy is
  17. Hey, be nice. Sparky does an amazing job with this forum and what was done with the other thread was necessary-- things were getting out of hand.
  18. Did they lock the other thread......? Why....?
  19. Skypala replied to Tash's topic in True Love
not really..... They are the LEAST tacky lyrics we've heard so far from GS and the chords are dark and brooding... Not at all tacky

    Me too!
  21. Actually there IS a lot of will-- just because he isn't playing real fast, smashing on the cymbals and banging on the snare drum constantly does not mean he is not "there"-- he's just playing more low key (and rather groovy) drum beats now.
  22. Haha-- I joined in November and you've PM'd me before ;) But then again, I'm more active than some of those users I suppose
  23. I think we could be hearing the whole thing within the next three days!!!
  24. Scrolling back through the rumors for LP6, and I discovered the first clue of what we are experiencing now... Can you believe we're only days away from a new Coldplay album?!?! :dazzled:
