Criticisms with the album?
Yeah haha. In the end what would music be if it didn't spark debate and differing opinions? That's part of it's beauty :)

Criticisms with the album?
Ugh just please don't misinterpret my concern for anything other than friendly and good intentioned frustration which is primarily due to me wanting all if you to be happy But I'm conflicted because i love the album but also highly respect all of your opinions :0

Criticisms with the album?
It's not so much about my own concern as it is that I hate seeing my fellow coldplayers being unhappy and discontent. So please don't misinterpret my concern for anything other than friendly and good intentioned frustration which is primarily due to me wanting all if you to be happy

Criticisms with the album?
Seriously? It's just an album. Don't listen to it and if it does affect your day maybe you should re-evaluate what you let affect you on a daily basis.. Maybe try going for a walk. At this point this thread isn't even stating criticism-- it's just the same people angrily ranting about this and that in a never ending cycle. Seriously I don't mean to be rude because I love all of you but please understand that ALL the criticism has already been said and that maybe you guy should take a step back from your laptop and maybe listen to some other albums/bands and stop being redundant and whiny on here?

The sooner the tour ends, the sooner we get LP7 and consequently from that, I'll get to go to my first coldplay stadium concert :dazzled:

Criticisms with the album?
Please don't call me a "fanboy" just because I love this album and you don't... That is extremely shallow-minded, and I would expect to hear better from a fellow Coldplay "fan"

Criticisms with the album?
I want to give you a hug right now ahaha. Couldn't have said it better myself-- someday if/when I'm in the same position as chris or any similar situation, I can truly see how Ghost Stories would be the perfect healing medicine.

Ghost Stories by the numbers
How does 1.2 million compare with this stage of release for their previous albums?
-
Criticisms with the album?
Exactly! People are so quick to judge every little detail-- I swear people make up new things to complain about just to so they can whine about something. I don't mean to come off rude but if you can't appreciate the positive qualities of this album then you really need to lower your expectations. Personally I love Ghost Stories more and more with each listen and music is music-- I don't care whether it is made with a laptop or a guitar, if it makes me tap my foot and smile, then that's enough for me.

Criticisms with the album?
+1000000 The fact of a matter is that a guitar wouldn't have been considered a "real" instrument back a hundred years ago before the advent of rock and roll, but times changed as they always do.

Criticisms with the album?
Can this thread be renamed to "whining about ghost stories because it doesn't sound like old coldplay/ has simple lyrics" I mean I really respect all of your opinions but I'm starting to get bothered by all the hate talk. I feel confident that chris has the same ability to write lyrics just as he could in the first trilogy, but that he got tired of forcing the lyrics out trying to make them mean something and instead to just write the truth as it comes out. I can't hate him for that, honestly the exact words he says such as in Another's Arms or Ink don't even bother me because I can sympathize with them-- they aren't trying to be something they're not-- such as a cryptic "deep" poem or something that you might find on X&Y. Please don't lash out at me also, because I know this is the criticism thread but I just am starting to be bothered by some of it

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Why does it have to be a MX part two though? Why couldn't it be a AROBTTH part two that's as uptempo as MX?

Where do you want Coldplay's sound to go?
I honestly think that with the past three concept albums, Coldplay have really backed themselves into a corner (in a good way) as far as where they go next stylistically. Think about it this way-- they can't go big/bloated bombast because they covered that partially in viva but definitely in MX. They can't really go any poppier after MX and certain parts of GS. Also, they have pretty much hit a dead end with electronic music with ghost stories-- I really don't think they have anywhere left to go in that spectrum (another electronic infused album would be too similar to GS, and they never do the same thing twice). Because of these things, I think that Coldplay have finally set themselves up to create a proper follow up to AROBTTH (or at least an album with a similar sound/ instrunentation). Consider that this would make sense given Ghost Stories' parachutesesque vibe-- they will most likely follow up with LP7 in 2015 with an uptempo straight-up rock album with songs sounding similar to the bonus track "ghost story" on the Target edition (perhaps this was a preview of what to come?) What do you guys think?

Why do you love Ghost Stories?
Haha no hard feelings but that thread was created kinda early in the scheme of things-- regardless, I'd rather see some positives than negatives any day!:)

True Love - your review
I hope it does for you as well! :) And by the way I just finished reading all your other reviews for the other songs and I wanted to say that they are excellent reviews and I agree with each of them 100%! :D it's cool seeing someone with the exact same opinion as you, who is able to express in words exactly what I was thinking. I really hope that someday you will maybe like True Love as well :)

True Love - your review
Opinions are opinions, but with that said, there are a few things to clear up about your review. 1) Those are not "synth" staccato notes at the beginning of the song-- that is jonny plucking his guitar-- so the entire foundation of this song is NOT synth plucking but rather Jonny's guitar, therefore making the song "guitar driven" 2) The BASS drum audio sound used electronically by will was RECORDED and created with Timbaland, but the actual drum beat was composed by Will, and is played by him live using the drum pads-- it is not a backing track. 3) The sweeping orchestration is not "synthesized" in the least-- it is love strings arranged for the song as recorded by a real orchestra-- this is not another "cheap synth." This is stated in the liner notes as well as shown in this picture on Paul Epworth's (the song's producer) Instagram profile: In the end, I cannot argue with your opinion of the song, but please do not litter your review with accusatory inaccuracies based on the instrumentation which is not even true.

Ghost Stories, release date: 19 May 2014
In the end really it's all down to personal taste I guess haha
