LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
That's fair. I never said it was impossible it was fake. Just that if it were real, you would also expect certain things. The rumors also say this album is supposed to be "artsy" and "experimental." No artist defines words like that like Daft Punk does. Could also be the perfect artist to fit your tracklist to

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
I can understand the general skepticism around this supposed tracklist leak, like "how could they have gotten it?" etc but three things stand out that make me think this could be real. The first is, four songs on the tracklist start with the same letter- M. We know that every Coldplay album has had this occur. Secondly, when you add up the supposed length of each song, it comes out to ~42:30. Chris said that around 42 minutes is the sweet spot for an album release. We've seen that on each album since Viva la Vida.. Thirdly, Johnny's verse guitar on "Adventure of a Lifetime" sounds like Nile Roger's guitar on "Get Lucky." It wouldn't be surprising to see them collaborate with someone they take influence from. It's also conceivable that the leaker is a longtime fan and knew both factoids about Coldplay but I genuinely think this could be real for these several reasons.

Birds (Song and Video out now Jan 2) pg 17 for Vid
This is soooo amazing. I NEVER expected Birds to be a single! Who would've thought? I was convinced it would be HftW. This is the band I came to know and love. AoAL, Everglow and now Birds. Even though the album isn't my favorite, they've made a lot of the best songs their single choices. Couldn't say that the previous two eras.

Haha You're right! The accent times. Ah. I must've gotten their voices confused in the moment. :( I thought I knew the sounds of their voices well enough by now. Not like they ever get to sing on any of the songs. :| They'll try everything, even horrible things, but God-forbid another Death Will Never Conquer... Up in Flames is a great song. But it's definitely not the best on MX. It's Ghost Stories but with more talent and emotion imo. True. I do wish I could hear the violin better at the end and more clarity for Jonny's riffs on the chorus though. They sound a little distorted to me.

Guy said "Army of One" was in that interview. It seems like the guys are always changing their minds. haha

Birds (Song and Video out now Jan 2) pg 17 for Vid
You already know who has the best taste in the band when Will says Birds is his favorite song off the album! :D :D :D Thanks for the interview, Thalia. :) Confirming what I had suspected!

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I just can't help but keep wondering, what got left off of the album because of Stargate's ultimatum policy? Because I could sit here and listen to Moving to Mars and spend the rest of my life guessing as to why that, one of my favorite songs all-time, wasn't on MX. It blows my mind that they would throw away all of those songs ("eight or nine for every one they accepted") at the behest of someone completely outside of the band. Who knows what we lost in the process... it hurts to even think about it.

Birds (Song and Video out now Jan 2) pg 17 for Vid
"Come on and raise this noise for the million people who got not one voice." Considering what Chris said about them being two lovers like "from Israel and Palestine," I'm convinced he is talking about Palestine here. Their video supporting Palestinian freedom got taken down on FB because of how many reports it got and I looked up Palestine's pop. out of curiosity- 1.7 million. They certainly don't have a voice. I doubt it's a coincidence and it makes the song even more meaningful- to me at least.

Everglow
This, THIS EVERYWHERE. I regret so much hearing the live version. Because now I know what could've been and the studio version is soiled. Why Stargate. Whyyyyy do you deprave me of my Jonny guitar! :'(

[The Telegraph intv.] Coldplay: 'Rock music has nowhere left to go’
There was always something raw and powerful about Coldplay. They weren't the most unique band. But in a world of soulless music, they had heart. Feeling. Some depth. Jonny's lovely guitar riffs and Chris' little piano lines brought everything to life. Will's energizing drums and Guy's understated bass plodding along. Now they can stand around a computer and bury the guitar and piano at will. They can create percussion without any effort. They first started using drum machines on Lost! and it sounded great. They first used the vocoder on HLH and the effect illuminated the anxious part of the song. It gave it a cool, dystopian feel. But they're not using technology in a clever or compelling way anymore. The dark, stripped-back style plays well with drum machines on, say, Another's Arms (despite the lyrics). But on every single song on the album? On Amazing Day and Up&Up? Not at all. Too much of anything is a bad thing, especially when it plain doesn't fit. It's an overused trick that they're relying on and it's jarring at times. And when Chris pushes the band to work with people like Avicii and Stargate behind their backs, things change. Were they accepting of it afterwards? Sure. Pop music is infectious and all these effects sound cool at first. But they wear on you quickly. Why can't he respect other people's boundaries? Why is he exempt from the bands' rules? Why is he pushing his former/current/future lovers and musical idols on the albums? It's become less about Coldplay and more about Chris Martin and technology. The band's talent is still there. It's just taken a backseat to everything else. I know they can still be a great band going forward. But a few things need to change.

[The Telegraph intv.] Coldplay: 'Rock music has nowhere left to go’
This doesn't have to be a bad thing. I get it, they don't want to be like AC/DC, ZZ Top, Creed, Nickelback or The Fray and make the same album several times over. That's fine. But does it have to be pop? Does it REALLY? If they're going to go on this bender about the importance of evolution and contributing to music and then release another rather pop-laden record like GS and to a lesser extent AHFoD, than they're being flat-out hypocrites. I don't know who thinks Ghost Stories advances music. I'm not convinced AHFoD does much either. But if nothing else at least it's more talent-filled and diverse. I'm confused by how they started out as an alt-rock band with a sound popular at the time, they took a complete left turn at Viva where it was unlike anything you heard anywhere, and then they want steadily back to the sound popular at our more recent time. What was that? Can we please do that again! I need the jazz fusion

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
You haven't known Chris long, have you? haha He does that EVERY album. He once explained it as, if they didn't act like each album was their last one, they wouldn't put everything they had into it. And on some level that does make sense. When the end of something is impending, more effort tends to go on. But he does the same damn thing with what his favorite Coldplay song is! True Love was his favorite Coldplay song last album, which had me to the point of tears. Now he says his favorite moment is XMtS but his favorite song is AHFoD? I'm just relieved by the latter. But Chris is an odd guy. He always has been. I don't think he'll ever stop changing, in terms of music taste, outlook on life, etc. Chris is like white-water splashing everywhere (especially live). Incredibly unfocused but brilliant in it's madness. Deeper at some points (The Scientist, Clocks, Viva, UAtW, O, Birds) than others when it hits the rocks (PoC, Magic, True Love, ASFOS, XMtS). You just wish you could capture some of that energy and harness it for a beautiful and powerful end (ARoBttH, VlVoDaAHF) like electricity to power hospitals and schools as opposed to looking on helplessly as it all tumbles over the cliff and goes to waste (GS). :p Couldn't resist.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I'll definitely agree that it doesn't matter whether or not it's "respectable music." I listen to a lot of One Direction and Demi Lovato. I think What Do You Mean by JB is a pretty good song, first of his I've felt that way. I just can't find anything redeeming in the music of some artists and Miley Cyrus is absolutely one of them (for me) Never been to a concert or The Bakery either. :/ Sigh. I didn't mean you. I Ran Away makes a lot of strong criticisms of Coldplay. They're usually quite insightful. It just strikes me to hear IRA praise Wrecking Ball when it's way more pop and more specifically generic than anything Coldplay has done imo. But everyone's taste is different. Also I would LOVE A JAZZ ALBUM. Why is everyone so down on jazz? Will is such a talented musician I bet they could do so much with jazz! :) I've actually been hoping that's what the next album would be, even since Chris half-jokingly said they'd do jazz fusion next. Want so bad. *fingers crossed* :D

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
As much as everyone has a right to their own musical taste, this makes me wonder about your unfailing criticisms of most things Coldplay does ;) I don't think Coldplay's ever made a song that bad. I'd take Magic, True Love and even XMtS over that. On the other hand, I hold them to much higher standards than most other artists. Maybe you do as well. Absolutely! This would be incredible. The turned away from a lot of great producers and artists recently. It's a shame. I would love to hear Jon Hopkins produce it- he makes fantastic electronic music.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
HOW is AHFOD dance-pop? It fits into U2's discography like a glove. Just because there's a lot of bass and energy that doesn't make it a dance song. This is not ASFOS. The only song more alt-rock-sounding on the album than it is Birds. At least to me.

How the hell would they think those are the lyrics? Chris WROTE THE LYRICS on the album!

Birds (Song and Video out now Jan 2) pg 17 for Vid
Why the qt? But you finish it with fifteen seconds of Jonny guitar soloing and a heavy Will hit on the cymbals. Although you do raise a good point. It's such a driving song that it's a headache to come up with an ending to. But it does not transition into HftW well at all. Why do you put all of the bird sounds on a song about parting instead? Birds go with the birds go with the birds go with the birds. And I can hardly think of two songs back to back on a Coldplay album that are so utterly jarring. U.F.O. into PoC is another horrible transition. As is Oceans into ASFoS. You just don't. You plain. Do. Not. These are two different genres entirely. They're different dang universes. What happened to the band that said during Viva that their albums should be composed of the songs that fit together best? Put HftW after Army of One/X Marks the Spot where it makes sense at least! WHY? WHAT? WHY? I'm not sure if they've gotten so ''drunk and high" they've forgotten how to put together albums track by track in a concise/common sense manner or if they just don't give a damn anymore. Either way, the albums suffer for it.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
This says everything. More prominent pianos and guitars would've been amazing. But we can't have that. They're "not a rock band" anymore. Why that means they have to do a disservice to Jonny's talents, I can only guess. They probably think it would sound too close to past songs they've done. It's a new direction. Or something.
-
Birds (Song and Video out now Jan 2) pg 17 for Vid
Ah. The ending of the song definitely could be better. I think a little Jonny guitar solo fading out to close it would've been amazing. It's definitely my favorite song on the album, though. Just relieved to have it there after hearing some of the other ones.

Birds (Song and Video out now Jan 2) pg 17 for Vid
Maybe it could've been better. It's a little cheesy but it's simplicity gives a strong feeling of innocence. Sounds like Chris and also works well given the context. Also think about it. If one person speaks Arabic and the other Hebrew or English, how are they going to communicate? If they're willing to learn each other's languages, their emotional expressions in the new language will be simplistic and probably sound corny at first. I could imagine an Arabic speaker saying "I think you're so cool" as he/she is first learning English when talking to the other person. I also read some people in the Islamic world speak broken English so that would make sense too. Just something to think about. In any case, I'll take this over "this particular diamond is extra special" by miles.

Birds (Song and Video out now Jan 2) pg 17 for Vid
How are they random bird sounds when the whole song is about birds?? Amazing Day has space sounds but not bird sounds from what I hear. Colour Spectrum only has them because it's a conglomeration of everything. Bird sounds are beautiful and it'd be nice if they were on the one song where it actually makes sense to have them! How crazy would that be, Coldplay? Imagine!?
-
Birds (Song and Video out now Jan 2) pg 17 for Vid
Can anyone tell me why all the BIRD sounds are not on the track itself? What kind of bs logic is that? That's part of the track's beauty... they couldn't put the 5 seconds of bird noises that don't have Beyonce on it on this song and have the track become HFTW when Beyonce comes in? They really don't care about this song at all.
