Chris is so modest. I still love that about him.

[2015-11-26] Chris Martin Interview with Zane Lowe (Beats 1)
I like how they're playing this terrible music (imo) and Chris is like "let's play the new Adele song!" I knew he still had some taste in there ;)

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Let's hope you're right. :| Will's the anchor up in this mama.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
You said it all, right there. :disappointed: I'll be furious if they did. But as the chorus goes away, the guitar gets louder at the end. That's what gives me hope, friend. Everyone say whatever they want about MX; at least I can HEAR Jonny on that album.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
It's tolerable. It's not the worst thing they've ever made from what we've heard imo. WHO doesn't bother me. I've always said I thought Rihanna was the best part of PoC, as bad as it is. It's just not my style of music. I'm guessing it's not most peoples' here. It's not exactly the most original-sounding these days from the clip we've heard.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Thanks [: Our lists are similar. So far: Birds Fun Colour Spectrum Up&Up Amazing Day Army of One Kaleidoscope AHFOD AOAL Everglow HFTW I could see AHFOD climbing if I can hear the guitar more. Tis a shame what they do to Jonny but they're not a "rock band" anymore (as if they ever were); merely a rationalization to downplay their most talented member. :jonny:

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I cracked like an egg :shame: AHFOD: The one I'm most disappointed about. Why isn't Jonny's guitar more prominent? They always do that and it PISSES ME OFF mon. I do think the ooooh's sound better/less out of place here but then Guy's bouncy ball bass comes it and it sounds EDM-ish. Don't need that. Preferring the live version. Birds: The one that's the best. Has a GPaSuYF feel to me but quieter. The song with the best lyrics (knock on wood) I'm betting. Hymn for the Weekend: The one that's better than I expected. Far better than PoC that's for sure. Reminds me of Kanye West's first two albums (which I quite like for the most part). It's decent but the lyrics will be garbage I'm guessing. Everglow: The one I have no idea what to think about. Can't tell much but sounds a little generic to me. I imagine it getting better. AoAL: The one we've heard. Can't help those trash lyrics and woohoos but pretty good otherwise. Fun: The one with the X&Y-ish guitar. The beats sound interesting. I'd say this one is close behind Birds but can't tell too much from it. Hopefully no generic love lyrics- Chris has been infatuated with those. Kaleidescope: The one that's quite odd. The vocal sample reminds me of what Daft Punk did on Giorgio Moroder. Piano is lovely and it sounds experimental at the end. Army of One: The one with a great organ. Has an atmosphere about it. I like the vocals here. Amazing Day- The one we've heard live. Chris' voice is odd. Quite powerful bass. Color Spectrum- The one I wish wasn't an interlude. I love the little sounds- reminds me of LiT a little. Up there with Birds and Fun clip-wise. These are only clips of course. :P Up&Up- The one that still sounds great. I. Just. Wish. More. Guitar. Prominence. Is that so terrible? What I want for Christmas is a great guitar melody UP FRONT son. Doesn't suffer from this as bad as AHFOD though. The guitar solo sounds fantastic.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Is Chris' voice altered/vocoder on Amazing Day? I may be wrong but it sounds a little odd.
-
LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I can't bring myself to listen to any of these. I might for Amazing Day but I'm fearful of AoAL syndrome for the rest. Expect one thing and then get something completely different/ supreme disappointment even though the real thing is still pretty good. Dude, I thought you were resistinggggg. There were Plans, Death Cab, and this is not apart of it.

Up&Up
I've only heard this song once but the chorus still managed to take over my brain the entire day.

A Head Full Of Dreams (Title track)
It fits so well there and I believe twas the first time they did it. It doesn't bother me much on Amazing Day and AHFOD. I think those songs would be better without it though. They do it a tiny bit on Up&Up and it sounds great, actually.

A Head Full Of Dreams (Title track)
And give me woahs/ooohs over woohoos and whatever nonsense Chris does at the end of Magic and Miracles, every time.

[2015-11-21] TIDALXCOLDPLAY Presented by KROQ (Tonight 20:30 LA, 04:30 UK)
So who is the guy they're getting back at. :laugh3: I don't see it at all. I've heard every single from that album and the only thing that comes close is the first minute or so of percussion between this and Blank Spaces and even that's a stretch to me.
-
Up&Up
I'd say this is the best song we've heard from the new album. :) Hoping the studio version is as great, if not even better.

AHFOD Reviews by Music Critics
This is a really well done graphic. They're free to be positive (though they do sound just a little blind-to-anything-that's-not-incredible :P). More than anything, I wish the lyrics felt more substantial. Quality positive lyrics that come to my mind from MX "Bullets fly, split the sky; but that's alright, sometimes sunlight comes streaming through the holes." "The birds they sang, all a choir, "start again a little higher." It's a spark in a sea of gray." Granted, we haven't heard the whole album. There's still time yet (I hope)!

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I mean Low is one of the weakest songs on the album, both lyrically and musically imo. But the music behind the lyrics definitely shapes people's opinions of them. I can tolerate the bad lyrics of AoAL a lot more than similar quality lyrics on GS because I like the music in the former better.

[2015-11-24] Coldplay Exclusive In Q Magazine
I believe it was the Rolling Stone article that said "he spits verses through a vocoder over a drum loop" on hidden track X Marks the Spot. I just assume that to mean rapping but it's possible they mean more of an R&B-style thing.

[2015-11-24] Coldplay Exclusive In Q Magazine
I'm sorry. :( I don't think of it as the dark side, just the side with low expectations. The upside being, that always leaves the door open to pleasantly surprise. For reference, I think MX is great. I'm expecting okay/goodish for this album. Better than GS but not any other of the others (for me). :|

AHFOD Reviews by Music Critics
This article nails part of why GS was so disappointing. "Low-key without being intimate." It sounds like this could be a great album...except for the lyrics, that is. :worried: Since Viva, Coldplay have "tried" so many different things. Why can't they experiment with other band members writing the lyrics for some songs? It seems so obvious to me. But it's not like Chris isn't capable. Both of the songs left off GS, that we only heard as bonus tracks, were stronger lyrically than anything that made it except O. And I'd bet this is still happening. "For every one they [stargate] would accept, eight or nine were scrapped." We probably lost some great lyrics in this purge. Especially knowing the simplistic, pop songs they're used to.

[2015-11-24] Coldplay Exclusive In Q Magazine
Can't say I'm surprised. All signs point to this album being much weaker lyrically than MX. At least in my eyes.

[2015-11-19] Chris Martin interview Rolling Stone
Why is it usually just Chris' friends/lasses/kids/idols who end up on these features? Let him rap and hand out drinks if he wants. As long as I only have to hear it once. I guess I wasn't expecting much from the album to begin with. :disappointed: [video=youtube;A-LHqF8asIw]]

Hymn for the Weekend
Similar feeling, not quite as bad though. Even Avicii is capable of making better music than Flo Rida. I'm just relieved FR isn't rapping on the track, considering the way Chris has been going lately. "We recently got one of the most talented musicians we've ever heard to be on A Head Full of Dreams. I can't reveal much else but let's just say these birds on the album cover are flying high "In the Ayer." :laugh3: Imagine? :(

Coldplay and Chris Martin Open Up for New Album - WSJ Article
What does dancey mean? Because Charlie Brown, AoAL and ASfoS are all very "dancey" in completely different ways. I know we can only speculate but he didn't say it was EDM. Just because the lyrics might suck doesn't mean the music absolutely has to.

Coldplay and Chris Martin Open Up for New Album - WSJ Article
Much disappointing news. :/ More intrigued to hear AHFoD now since it lacks a chorus, though. Album title tracks have never let me down me before! It's so strange (to me) having at least two ballads and at least one dance track on the album. On Viva they stressed the importance of song flow.I can't listen to any Viva track alone, I always listen to the album in one sitting- that's how well it goes together. But judging by the past two albums, they tossed said idea.
