1. I definitely do that with a few songs... like Lost+ and Up In Flames. I love the original version of Lost! but I can't stand Jay-Z's verse. It feels like it was shoehorned in there and it doesn't sound good without a real hip hop beat. Plus, he raps over Jonny's solo! :annoyed: Without the rap, that's the best part of the song for me! As for Up In Flames, I've already said several times that I don't care too much for the song. :P I usually only listen to this version, because I think it sounds so much better with Will on real drums: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtPRuWeNcQA Oh, and I rarely listen to the album version of Don't Let It Break Your Heart. The bonus track live version from Live 2012 is so much better.
2. I had no idea! Though I did know that they played 1.36 once or twice:
3. I know I'm crashing your solo party here, @AMDB9 , but have fun tonight!!! :D I wish I could go too but hey, there's something magical about seeing Coldplay live for the first time and I hope it's as amazing of an experience for you as it was for me. :awesome:
4. What a funny coincidence... there has been some recent discussion in this thread about seeing people wearing Coldplay shirts, and I just saw someone this morning wearing a Global Citizen Festival shirt from last year! It looked like this: I tried not to be shy but they were walking into class so I didn't want to hold them up. I just gave them a smile and "I love that shirt" before going on my way. :)
5. I just had a very surreal and scary experience a little bit ago... I was crossing the street on my way back to my dorm and some idiot decided to run through a red light, nearly hitting me at high speed. :( I don't think I've ever been that scared before in my life. :worried: So all I can think of right now is this lyric: "Every step that you take Could be your biggest mistake It could bend or it could break That's the risk that you take"
6. Thank you so much!!! I will certainly be watching if you do make it happen. :D
7. I really like the Avicii mix, too. I think Avicii picked a better vocal track and even though I don't really listen to much EDM, his version does the intended sound and message more justice. Oh, and I like how the Oceans outro is used as the intro of the remix.
8. I don't care the slightest bit about the VMAs and most of what MTV has to offer nowadays, but that would be pretty cool. :) It's always nice to see the boys get some recognition. If Up&Up doesn't win... "I'm gonna buy a gun and start a war." ;)
9. No way... :P find me a video or that didn't happen. ;) Just kidding! It looks like they played Til Kingdom Come as well. :) Mobile Link: https://twitter.com/ColdplayAtlas/status/769754371689156608
10. I'm the same way. I only talked to the person with the MX shirt because I had a class with them so at least we were already acquaintances. I was too shy to approach the complete stranger at a theme park who was wearing a Ghost Stories shirt...
11. Right now I'm listening to all the songs that Coldplay played on the AROBTTH tour but never released. I kind of want to combine those with Moses and the X&Y b-sides to make a sort of "LP 2.5" album. That would be really cool... :surprised: Oh, and I thought I heard my roommate singing Princess Of China in the shower this morning. :D
12. Yes!! I already enjoy that show but a Coldplay version would be even better :laugh3:
13. That's awesome! :D I've only seen two people wearing Coldplay shirts in my everyday life. Last year I saw a Mylo Xyloto shirt at school and roughly a month ago I saw someone wearing a Ghost Stories shirt at a theme park.
14. In the past week after moving away to university, I've listened to AHFOD a ton of times. Probably even more than I did back in December after it came out and in June to hype myself for Glasto. I thought it was a solid album at first, but now it's starting to grow on me more and more. I still can't stand X Marks The Spot. :P But apart from that, I'm liking the album even more as I go through this big transition in my life. It helps reassure me and keep me optimistic. I still consider myself an "Oldplayer." I don't think AHFOD is Coldplay's best work. I don't particularly like some of the things Stargate did to the songs. But AHFOD is the album that is speaking to me the most in my current situation and that is really helping me appreciate it more. :)
15. Everglow That song was magical at my concert, too. Well, it became a solo piano performance by accident. ;) But honestIy think it was even better than the version on the album once it got restarted. The imperfections were outweighed by the passion and emotion. :dazzled:
16. Welcome to Coldplaying :D I'm so glad you joined us and I hope you have a totally awesome wonderful fantastic amazing fun time here. :) I didn't get to see Wembley Stadium when I traveled through London this summer. :( Lucky you, getting to see Coldplay there! :P
17. That's true, but it was a reminder that they can still throw in a random rare gem if they feel like it.
18. Happy birthday, AROBTTH! :D :arobtth:
19. Now I'm really starting to regret not getting tickets for the show in Denver this coming Monday. :( They played freaking Violet Hill last night! And they've been teasing One I Love for months, as well as apparently soundchecking a new song according to Roadie 42.
20. Here's another bit that connects with that part of Army Of One: "You use your heart as a weapon" - Hurts Like Heaven
21. YES they actually played Violet Hill!!! If they're willing to play that, then I'm starting to regret not getting tickets for Denver on Monday...
22. That little show is a jewel, indeed. I really like the acoustic versions of Hurts Like Heaven and Paradise. :)
23. At my concert, I think it was my favorite song of the night. It was truly spectacular and it's the one I remember the most vividly. :)
24. I kind of get that same feeling, like the MX era was filled with so much joy and color but under the surface Chris and Gwyneth's marriage began to fall apart... it makes me look at that part of the band's career differently now. It's kind of like it was masking the turmoil going on in their personal lives.
25. Birds. It has been stuck in my head since Tuesday. :D Atlas is only a few years old, but it would be a great choice for a request on the current tour. I hope they play it again, too.
