i fucking broke my bass string

Featured Replies

i just tuned it down to low D because its supposed to be that way for a song i wanted to play....then i find out the tab is wrong  so i start tuning it back to E and it fuckin breaks. i didn't tune it too high, it wasn't even up to the way its supposed to be yet. and those strings are only a month old.

AND i either have to get the people at the store to fix it for me, which means i dont get to watch so i can learn to do it myself, and it costs $35 because they do the whole "makeover" thing instead of just changing the fuckin string, or i can wait almost 2 weeks for my teacher to show me how

actually my bass is killer

its the string thats shitty or i would have broken my first set sooner than after six months

:idea2:

Even six months is a pretty short life for a bass string. Was it a clean snap or did it start unwinding at the bridge? Because if it's the latter, and if it was the same string both times, that could be a sign that it is your bass's fault. :P

no it started unwinding up at the head....and besides the other ones that only lasted six months were the ones that came with the bass when i got it, and it had been sitting in the store for a while anyways...i'm not sure how long :P

I change my strings every 4 months.

But I think bass strings can last for 8 or 9 months?

I tend to change my bass strings about once every two years.

But that's because whenever they're dirty I just boil them in some water and slap 'em back on. And also because I don't really play a whole lot of bass anymore. Piano is too much fun. :P

yeah i wish i could play piano

i used to take lessons but i quit

my teacher used to queef and she had hairy arms so i quit

and i heard boiling them works i just wouldnt want to take them off again can you just scrape the crap off with your pick or something?

I guess the best thing to do aside from boiling them would be to clean them off with some lemon oil on a rag or something.

i told you your bass was shitty

and it's not even hard to change a string

do you not know how to tie or something?

 How long do strings usually last?!?!

Mine havent even broke yet.. and their the originals... WooT!!

 Sounds painful

at my first show [well technically my second but the first one where there were bands i liked] i gave myself whiplash...which was actually very refreshing and it felt incredibly good. and i got to talk to the guitarist from Eighteen Visions, who was really nice to me, and when the bass player [the guy in my avatar] walked by, my hand accidentally [yes, it really was an accident] brushed against his ass :sneaky: . i couldn't talk to him though cause he was on his cell phone :(
