Am i the only one who thinks that SOTSOG is better than DM?

Featured Replies

talking about oasis albums, as you might have guessed.

Imho, Standing on the shoulder of giants has better lyrics, liam's vocals are great, and so are noel's, and andy's bass lines are just great. It's oasis at their best.

definitely maybe is fucking awesome, but liam's vocals weren't as good as they were in, let's say, 1998-1999, the bass lines are just stupid, and tony was a crappy drummer.

And oh, just thought i'd tell you: DON'T FORGET TO GET THE NEW OASIS DVD.

only 26 days left till it's out. woop.

sorry man but don't have any experiences neither of those albums so i can't really spout out my opinion :/

ha it's all good lotta. I'm glad you replied though.

how's everything in finland today?

it's sunny for a change  and i've slept like 3 and half hours last nite so i'm feeling kinda weird. but so fabulous. i'm just so happy, without a reason

plus i'm gonna buy a new skirt today.

how are you, thom?

Ah, a sunny day, eh? that's good, it's been freaking cold here. Stupid winter. And i used to like cold weather.. meh.

And whoa, only 3 hours? you're my hero lotta. I used to have nights like that in the good old school times though. Like, stay up till 4am and wake up at 7a,. ha that was so cool, even though i always had to sleep on classes.

And wooo, a new skirt, eh? don't forget to post a pic later :sneaky:

*UP WITH THE MINI-SKIRTS! *

And oh, i'm swell. It's 4am though, so i'm kinda sleepy.. but since i don't have anything good to do tomorrow, i might stay up for a few more minutes.

Yesh, I even have one mini skirt. but posting a pic of me wearing it might scare the hell out of people  maybe we shouldn't take that risk.

aaaah my school starts on tuesday, then it's goodbye for early mornings among other cooliewoolie coldplayers and stay up for the whole night-days. but this summer has left me some awesome memories.

hey thom, where are you located? here it's 10:03. should go get some breakfast soon.

haha Oh, i'm sure that a pic of you wearing a skirt wouldn't be scary.... unless you were a fat 50 years old lady with fat legs.. but since you're a fine teen from finland i don't think the pic would be scary. but oh well, if you don't wanna take that risk.. it's all good.

And oh, so you're still on vacations? that's cool, uni started two weeks ago here, and i'm freaking tired cos i have to read this boring book called "der prozess" by franz kafka and it's soo boring. Why can't we read harry potter instead?

and oh, i'm from brazil, and i'm writing -to reach you- from the shitty town of teresópolis, a ranch in the middle of nowhere

and oh, i think i'm going to bed now though. Enjoy your breakfast lotta, it was good to talk to you. take care, have a good day.

cheers!

i'll think bout the pic. if i get that new skirt... then perhaps ... :sneaky: :D

aah yeah, potter rocks! brazil? a ranch? whoa, that's so cool!

yeah, i'm going to have that breakfast and then go shopping and spend my last money on useless stuff

sweeeet dreams!

( hey i'll add you on msn, is that okay? )

well I like both albums but I preffered when Noel wrote all the songs although Liam has written some alright songs but Noel is the genius of oasis and that's how I think it should stay. I do love gas panic though, one of my fav oasis songs but when a band come out with such a strong debut it's hard to live up to. So IMO I think DM is alot better :)

Sunday Morning Call, that song makes me cringe a bit...the angel/choir voices from keyboards are awful (i think). Noel seems to have used up a lot of his ideas, and repeats a similar sounding chorus from previous albums. I do like the start of that song however. i think Who Feels Love is a good song and Gas Panic is the highlight. i think the album as a whole better than average (baring in mind, average is bands like The Vines [that's what i consider anyway, because that's what a lot of people, not so much on this board, listen too, and other nme bands]) but there's some bad bad songs on there...little james, Put Yer Money where Yer Mouth is [which is really, 'Roadhouse Blues - The Doors' anyway] and I Can See A Liar.

I used to be a big big fan of oasis, and i have every album and single by them, and seen them twice. But after Be Here Now, i think they're been going down hill. i haven't listened to their new album from start to finish yet. But i always hope they'll get good again, hopefully with the new drummer he can set a different style for them...but i'm a but doubtful of it.

aye 'tis true (in the accent of Willy from the Simpsons)

I prefer Definitely Maybe. But in my opinion, Masterplan is Oasis best album.

Definitely Maybe is the best Oasis album.

It most certainly is.

I do like most songs on SOTSOG. 'Little James', 'Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is' and 'I Can See A Liar' are fucking terrible, but even without them it's still a pretty average album. 'Fuckin' In The Bushes', 'Go Let It Out', 'Gas Panic!' and 'Roll It Over' are all fantastic songs, but the album as a whole really is way below par. Some of the B-sides were better than any of the tracks on the album; I don't see how they could put abominations like 'Little James' or 'Put Yer Money...' on the album and not 'Carry Us All' or 'Let's All Make Believe' (which is one of their very best songs).

Definitely Maybe is one of the best albums I've ever heard. Oasis have never surpassed it, and they never will. 'Live Forever', 'Rock & Roll Star', 'Supersonic', 'Bring It On Down', 'Cigarettes & Alcohol' - hell, EVERY song on this album is fucking fantastic.

I prefer Oasis' earlier stuff. Strangely enough, ever since they came off the drugs, Noel's songs have generally been nowhere near as good as his old stuff. Granted, the new stuff is still pretty good, and he can still churn out the odd classic, but it's not the same. Everything Noel does is "the best things he's ever done" at the time, and then a year later he turns his back on it tells everyone that he was being stupid - it happens all the time.

I would rather listen to any of Oasis' older albums (Definitely Maybe, Morning Glory, Be Here Now) than the last two. They used to be my favourite band, and they probably still would be if they'd finished after Be Here Now.

^^ yeah, anything i didn't say, you just said it...Lets All Make Believe, i still find it hard to believe Noel actually wrote that....it's nearly on another level for his song writing. i'd love to hear some similar songs to that...

I like Definitely Maybe, and What's The Story Morning Glory is good, but I think Be Here Now is the best Oasis album, at 71 minutes, it's filled with sweeping epic songs. The shortest song is 4 and a half minutes, and the longerst is 9 and a half, all these songs are awesome on Be Here Now. "It's Getting Better Man", "Don't Go Away", "Magic Pie", and "Stand By Me" are the best songs, but all of them are really good.

SOTSOG is a good cd, but yea, "Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is" rocks hard, but just repeats the lyrics from The Doors. "Little James" is a sweet song, I love the lyrics "Thank you for your smile, you make it all worthwhile to us." And yea, "I Can See A Liar" is pretty bad.

"Go Let It Out", "Where Did It ALl Go WRong", "Sunday Morning Call" are good. But the best song by far is "Roll It Over". The cd spends too much time mellowing out in my opinion.

  You feel strongly about it charlie, eh?  ;)

Hmmmmm....it took alot of analysing :idea2:

why thankyou :smug:
