time travel and existance

Featured Replies

That life after death thing inspired me to make this thread. okay, this is just something i happend to wonder about one day.

is time travel possible?

lets say, some person somehow managed to travel back or forward in time (ignoring all the scientific things that i know nothing about). and you could travel back in time, say, 5 years when you would still be alive. i was actually thinking of the movie "back to the future" when i decided on a weird little theory. let's say it's possible to run into your former self. so that would be 2 of the same person. but let's say you could travel forward in time, past the present. that would be 3 of the same person. but if you could travel forward in time and back in time at different points, then there could be more than 3 of the same person for the past present and future. one for every year perhaps. but that could still not be enough. could there be millions of the same person reliving and living seconds of difference in our lives?

don't make fun of me. :P

Nooo I getchya.

Theres so many different theories and claims to work against a paradox like the one you have just brought up. Like if I travelled 1 second into the future, would there be another version of me when I come out of the machine will there be another version of me, the exact same? Then I take him in the time machine and we travel another second forward, is their a 3rd me sitting there?

Well, I say no. If you travel into the future 5 years you wont be able to see what your life is like, because you travelled into the future 5 years ago, and where you stand is what exists of your being. You can only be of one entity, within one Time Space Continuom.

Now, that is unless other places exist, like other universes. We travel to these other places, which is a different life, with different reprecussions for what has happened when you travelled there.

Ugh, this honestly wrecks my brain and destroys my brain cell everytime I go into it, so I'll save that for another time.

well theoreticly is possible but you would need to travel at the speed of light and the bunch of other things,so it's impossible

But i'v heard that peaople outside the earths orbit or something like that actualy travleld a few tiny pieces of seconds to the future or something...

Nooo I getchya.

i agree, if you go into a machine, your there, your in your future

  • 2 years later...

and when its described so well as in "The Time Traveller's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger, you could believe it could happen.

with all the evolution going on, who's to say that a time-travelling gene won't pop up
