^Yeah, that first trailer would probably look a lot more impressive in 3D. :smug2:

As for Matt yeah I think he'll always look weird, but about halfway through the first of the new trailers I was like, yeah he's the Doctor. He may not be my Doctor, but that was definitely THE Doctor speaking. Good writing, Mr. Moffat.

One week

Lots of new clips out here and there. I watched a bunch of them and then all of a sudden Matt was the Doctor. And that was it. He reminds me of the second Doctor for some reason, almost as if DT's doctor was trying to do an impression of the second. It's interesting.

The new Doctor Who looks like such a goober!

Has Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen been at the Tardis?:stunned:

Maybe he's being considered as the next Doctor!

^He really does. (Have you seen the clip with the vampires?)

No, gimme. His face pisses me off and makes me laugh at the same time.

Goober.

Hahaha! He's absolutely horrible.

Question Cadet: How did you find out about Dr. Who? I thought it was just in Britain land.

PS. Mark edited his post above but it still doesn't make sense

^The first 3 series of the new show were co-produced by the CBC. I heard that it was going to be shown here and was still so confused about what the show was about that I started watching just to find out.

I first heard about Doctor Who when I was about 19 and had just started reading Douglas Adams. It said in his bio that he used to write for the show. I asked my Dad what Doctor Who was about and his answer was "Oh, that show. That was weird." "But what is it about?" "I don't remember, it was just really weird." And I had been confused ever since.

Shouldn't vampires have had the ability to move fast and stop him instead of wandering towards him in a daze, plus the teeth look freaky, Dr Who and vampires don't really work because Dr Who is traditionally alien/extraterestrial and vampires are supernatural and I don't like them being explained as extraterestrial instead, much the same with the werewolf episode with David Tennant.

good gawd! i so want to give Matt Smith a chance first, but after watching that i really want DT back already! or even Chris Ecclestone!

& shouldn't he have figured out that they're vampires much much sooner? took him a while... :inquisitive:

Aha! But the good thing about fiction is that "traditions" can be challenged, meaning that the Dr Who writers could say vampires are actually extra-terrestrials!:D

Saying vampires and werewolves are extra terestrials ruins it for me, Dr Who should stick with alien monsters not supernatural ones.

Dr. Who is like Lost, the writers can basically do whatever the fuck they want without reason or logic, which is why I hate shows like that.

I don't mind Dr Who, although it's not a must see show for me, Torchwood is awful though, mainly due to John Barrowman who I find incredibly irritating.

Have you watched any of FlashForward yet?, it's done by the same people who did Lost and seemed a similarly odd concept.

Torchwood is awful though

I agree. I never got into that. I found it far too farcical.;)

However, I don't think that was necessarily down to John Barrowman. I blame the writers.:dozey:

John Barrowman and his character in Dr Who/Torchwood are some of the most annoying things on TV to me.

I must admit that many of the Dr Who episodes which featured "Captain Jack" were also farcical, as were the ones featuring "Donna", which I have mentioned before.

I think the series became far too comedic during this time. Thankfully it appears to have become more "serious" again of late.;)

yeah, i've watched it...& i somehow get the feeling it's already starting to run out of steam midway. but i figure i'll just stick it out & see how the series plays out til the end.

& Mark, i think they went all comical with the Donna arc since Catherine Tate's strength is comedy. guess the writers thought it'd be great to have some humour after all the moping around he was doing after he "lost" Rose & then the wrong signals with Martha (now that was one companion i didn't really like cos she was always all fawny over the doctor).

Of course there's always a certain amount of humour in the series, which is fine. I just felt it reached "overdose" levels when Catherine Tate was in it, which spoilt it for me somewhat.:dozey:

I agree with you, what was also irritating about Torchwood was the need to have mindless sex scenes all the time, but I think this might have partly down to Barrowman needing to tell the world he's gay every 2 minutes as if his life depends on it.

well, they did make his character out to be some kinda intergalactic Casanova...kinda like one Capt. James T. Kirk.

Except Captain Kirk wasn't bisexual as far as we know!:P
