I fucking love my U2 by U2 book. Seriously, sometimes I just sit in bed and stare at it...... and stare and stare and stare. It's just so perfect.... :wideeyed:

The chance of me getting Bono's autograph is not very likely at all!! I know people wait after the concert for the chance they will come out, and I'm thinking I shoulg give it a go....but I have no idea how often that works...

beckhamcrosses do you have any idea how this stuff usually works out??

I'm only going to my first ever U2 concert in Hawaii in December, so I don't have any personal experience, but I remember reading somewhere that they leave the concerts immediately after and don't hang around to see fans afterwards. What I read said your best chance is to hang around in the afternoon - when they arrive for soundcheck they often stop to meet and greet fans. I'm going to try, although I have to be in line with the general admission ticket, so not sure it will work! Good luck though, if you do try it!!

They get to the venue around 4:30-6:30 the night of the show. I know this cuz I waited three times for them ;) Unless it's pouring rain, or there's only 2 people out there, or like 75, OR around 6:15-7pm then they won't stop. Other than those really random and unlikely circumstances, they will come out and give you an autograph and take as much time as they can :D I mean, obviously there is a chance that they might not. But don't take a car driving by as a final "no". I know that Edge and Larry arrived to the venue around 4 and Edge came out at 4:45 to sign autographs (I met him :D ) Bono also stopped and got out of his car, as did Adam. We assumed Larry didn't come out because of his back problems and he probably needs to relax before the show (although there was a rumor of him having come out righta fter 4 and signing the very few people's autographs that were there, it's no secret he's not much of a crowd person heh).

As for after, yeah, they do come out. I know people who met them around midnight to 1am after the show. This was always when they had another date in the same city, though, so I'm not totally sure. Suppose it depends on where they're going after.

It's always a gamble, but it is DEFINATELY not impossible. In fact, U2 is one of the most touchable bands I have ever met, definately more so than Coldplay. They will always make time for you, if they can, and they're just the biggest sweethearts... So humble and sweet :nice: I got Adam's and Edge's autographs, but I was too terrified to ask Bono for his lmfao

Good luck, sorry for that long winded blah blah blah. I have Bono-itis... :laugh4:

That is cool Miss D. . . maybe I might do the sound check thing too, but then you risk losing the best seats up front, or at least a chance of getting close. . . . ..... going to buy the new book tomorrow. . . I think!, having just spent two grand repairing my car and this morning I have forked out for an ipod . . I spent all afternoon trying to set this thing up with my favorite songs, next time I am downloading whole albums onto it and not stuffing around!! with one from here, and one from there. . . (ohh. . . Travis . . cool)

You can always get someone to hold your place in the GA line while you go find the back entrance ;) See, I've only seen them GA here in Boston, where they don't require you to line up all day (instead you get numbered wristbands and you only have to return at 5:30, I met the band around 4:30 so... yeah).

Wow, I can't believe it's been over a year since that concert date (when I had GA).... I miss them!

Wow great story Danielle ....You are so lucky, but you put in the work so you deserve it......I cant believe you got Edge's and Adam's autograph, brilliant! What did you get them to sign?

That really is a great idea with the numbered wrist band!!! Instead of waiting around all day you could actually go home then come back! I wish they could do that here, but they wont!!!

Yeah, the Boston Garden is pretty amazing. They started doing it during their May '05 shows, when it was utterly HORRIBLE weather here (it was literally the most rain we've ever gotten in like... YEARS here, and it rains a fair amount lmfao). So instead of leaving everyone in the rain, or making them come inside, they just told everybody to sod off with their wristbands :laugh4: It was really helpful, even though my mom and I didn't go home, we slept in the car, then got to eat and all that. But hey, hanging out in a GA line can be fun too. U2 fans are crazy, I love 'em  Or at least they are HERE.

Here are all my souveneirs from that day, which I'm still convinced is one of the best days of my life. :nice: Don't laugh at my stuffed animals! LMFAO Yes, I am an adult, I hang onto these things haha. The stuffs in the frame behind my clock, fyi ;)

I've got confetti that falls during COBL, my U2 postcard that I got in Barcelona, signed by Edge and Adam, my two tickets, my wristband that glowed in the dark omg so cool and a printed picture I took, this one:

:nice: lmfao, sorry I don't mean to blab about myself or own this thread or anything, I just can't stop talking about that day sometimes...! haha I really hope everyone who goes to see them in the future enjoys their gigs as much as I did. I met a kid at a Strokes gig who went to see them twice (May and December) and he said he was really disapointed because they just did the same exact setlist. I found that really hard to believe, since I saw them in May, October, and December twice... I never ONCE had the same setlist. Be it a song rotated out (Running To Stand Still, I only heard once) or a surprise third encore (All Because of You and Fast Cars in Boston, that was INCREDIBLE) or a Zoo TV vs. Acoustic encore, it's always different. Ah well.

Great pics!!!!!!! My god you must have had the time of your life being that close to Bono (btw my sister walked past and was like omg!! how lucky is she!!) Really love what you did with your souveneirs as well, it looks really cool.......(btw I love the Jim Morrison pic on your wall lol)

Thanks! I uploaded the rest to my FLICKR here: http://flickr.com/photos/rocknserve/sets/72157594287243089/

It really was incredible, especially when Bono smiled down at me and omggg just the best thing ever! Honestly, I know that lining up can be a total pain in the ass, and it doesn't SEEM worth it at the time (fuck, I was on the pavement at 5am, and even THEN I was 30th in line)... but believe me, it pays off. Big big BIG time. :D

haha, cheers. Love the Doors!

Why oh why things work like this only in the USA...it would have been impossible to meet them outside in the afternoon in Milan, and also after the concert as they stayed to watch how the recording of the concert was :( plus if you leave your place in line there's no way you will find it back cause there's too many people waiting.

I believe what Danielle experienced is more for the USA "small" venue than with stadiums, but then in the end my 18 hours waiting were definately worth while

I know a few people who will go to see them in Honolulu...U2+Pearl Jam, it'll be incredible, so Kaycee I think you'll have an amazing time there :nice:

Yeah, see I truly do only speak from my own experience. I've never been to one of their "stadium" gigs. And actually, you're right Denise, the venues I saw them in were VERY tiny in comparison (what, only 18,000 in Hartford in December). I mean, I'm used to even SMALLER venues now (lmfao, 100 people in a club watching a band, that's my thing lately), so to me the Boston Garden is massive. But I've seen the clips from the European gigs and they just blow my mind :stunned: I've also read the reports and just wow, kudos to you guys. We're pussies out here in comparison :laugh4: Well... haha you know what I mean ;)

I don't know, I always tend to make friends with people in the GA lines, so I can leave and come back whenever I want, but yeah.... I suppose if there are like 500 people in line and they see you leave, then come back, it could be a bit scary. For me there was probably only about.... 100 after first, then up to 200 ish (that was yanno, lining up EARLY for the rail ;) )

Oh man, I have totally refined my GA line techniques, I need U2 to come baaaack! :laugh4:

Hey, I wonder if they'll play anything new on the tour...! I just thought of that, I can't wait to read these reports!

today I saw the movie "The Devil Wears Prada" had U2 song " City Of Blinding Lights"...so cool!!!

Danielle we should make an exchange for the next tour: American arenas for me, European stadiums for you :laugh3:

Hey' date=' I wonder if they'll play anything new on the tour...! I just thought of that, I can't wait to read these reports![/quote']

I really hope they will play something new..The Saints and hopefully Windows on the sky too, can't wait to hear how it will sound like :wacky:

@brazzo: I've seen it too...and I almost had an heart attack...it suits so well to Paris' lights

Has the tracklisting for the new shameless U2 greatest hits been announced yet?

Which it will get beaten in the charts by the 'almighty' westlife with the love album

No tracklist yet...I think it will be revealed on monday as on that day an internet competition linked to it will start

actually I couldn't care less about the tracklist, I already have their "most known songs", unless they put A Celebration :wideeyed: (I'm sort of obsessed with that song lately)..I just want the 10 video tracks from Milan

Yeah i have no idea how it would work out here....coz the stadium here holds 50,000 I think....thats a lot of people that would want to meet them lol!!! So what time did you start lining up?

Haha, Denise have you seen the previews for that movie coming out in November? I have no idea what it's called, but Kate Winslet and Cameran Diaz are in it. They get sick of men in their area so they swap lives and houses etc etc. We should sooo do that, just for U2 :laugh4: :P I'm hoping that next time they come around I can save up quite a bit of money and catch them in Ireland. That would be the ULTIMATE.

I loooove the Devil Wears Prada, great film! The part with the U2 song is so amazing, I sort of flipped in the theater and danced in my seat when it came on :laugh4:

Lol I haven't seen any trailer for that film but I think I can do it for U2..and it's my ultimate dream too to see them in Ireland  I so wished they ended this tour in Dublin just like the Elevation tour, maybe next time

Yeah i have no idea how it would work out here....coz the stadium here holds 50' date='000 I think....thats a lot of people that would want to meet them lol!!! So what time did you start lining up?[/quote']

I arrived at the stadium by almost 11pm of the day before and there were around a hundred people ahead of us at both GA entrances...but I think this is only for insane U2 fans :laugh3: :laugh3: it was my first concert so I had to be on the front rows

Oh shit....... 11pm the day before?

*loves the USA right now!! :stunned: * See, security around the venues doesn't allow people to line up the night before, and if you did decide to sleep on the Bostonian pavement well uh..... haha........ NOT SMART. :uhoh: So people really only start lining up here on the East Coast around 1am-3am the morning of the show.

But wow...... That's just...... whoo. Kudos to you, once again... :stunned:

OMG!! the only time ive lined up like that is to get tickets for robbie williams...not even for the concert lol....wow...at our concert it says we're not allowed on the premises before 9am, so do we line up near the stadium, its very weird...I'm so stressing about this U2 concert!!!

Oh yeah, all venues say that. It's not listened to, though. There'll be line leaders who know how it works who will start the line somewhere "off" venue premises. Then probably at 9am or 10am, the line will move onto the venue area. U2 fans are really good, or at least they are here. Very organized, giving out numbers to people and making sure NO ONE cuts. I aspire to be one of those line leaders one day :smug: :laugh4:

Thanks for the info Danielle.....last time I did GA for stadium concert was 3 years ago and I rocked up at 1pm and still got one person behind the barrier (the grpund was split in half, Gold GA, and Silver GA)......this is going to be waaaayy harder since the whole ground is Gold GA!

Oh well that has just been my experience here in Italy, I know in Spain or Portugal it's the same, but for example in Dublin people got numbers so they didn't have to stay in line, and no one had to sleep outside..but in Milan we had so much space and police never told us anything, they were there just because they had to, but at the end it was all quite and the weather was warm...I think I would do it again, cause I met many people from the italian board I'm writing in :nice:

So Carole try to understand which situation is more likely to be there, I knew I had to sleep outside, maybe it will not be like this in Australia ;)

I fly from Perth to Melbourne the day of the concert. We dont arrive till 1230.
