Does it not annoy anyone else that up and coming bands like keane and thirteen senses are struck down for being like coldplay just because they use keyboards? I hate it how every new indie/brit rock band is now labelled the "new coldplay"! Didn't ANYONE notice that McFly are the biggest rip off of Busted EVER?! No one in the media slammed them as the next busted insead they got showered with awards! For what?

It annoys me that it doesnt happen enough

Every new indie or brit rock band is being labelled the new Coldplay?

Razorlight

The Ordinary Boys

Bloc Party

The Futureheads

Kasabian

Franz Ferdinand

Babyshambles

The Kaiser Chiefs

Precisely none of these new indie bands have been (or can be) compared to Coldplay.

Mediocre bands that do get compared to Coldplay (like Keane or Embrace) are quite deserving of it. Granted, comparing Keane, Thirteen Senses or Embrace to Coldplay is like comparing piss to champagne... But there's no doubt they are trying (and failing) to imitate them.

So no, it doesn't annoy me.

I dont know who Thirteen Sense are, but Keane are certainly dry pale mellow dramatic drivel like Coldplay.

Snow Patrol too.

I think a few misunderstand what i mean! There should be more bands allowed to come through like coldplay without them all being slammed as copy cats just for using pianos! I mean feeder used a piano in a song on their last album and all the media went crazy saying they were copying coldplay - even though (unfortunately) feeder started out way before them! I say get off the backs of musicians and let them make the music that comes to them!

The media went crazy over it? Y'know instead of just SAYING something you could try and back it up with a link or story of some kind.

I also didnt believe you when you said in the topic post that EVERY new indie band is being compared to Coldplay, that simply isnt true. Sometimes it happens on the main front but if you watch MTV2 or listen to some rock radio channel you'll find the media hardly ever mentions Coldplay there.

I don't remember reading or hearing anything saying Feeder were copying Coldplay.

yes that annoys me, all the other bands fans think their band is the best, and all the bands are cool 'cause we like them, and depends how we feel that we like one more like the other band during some time and time later we change it.. that's life so noone is better than other, that's what i think.

anyways each band try to get their own style, and every band influences each other. :)

it annoys me more that they label them as 'sounding like an early U2'

I have to accept that the band I once loved is now nothing more than a distant memory. Songs such as 'Tangerine' and 'Crash' have long been replaced by the new sound which owes much more to Keane and Coldplay in their melancholic approach. You can say that I hark back to the past and you would be right' date=' because I am, but I do so for a reason. Feeder used to mean something to me! Now they are just another band muddling through, and that makes me sadder than you can imagine.[/quote']

Personally, I think that this is possibly their best album to date, love the songs Morning Life and Feeling A Moment in particular.
