X & Y is amazing. It's my favorite Coldplay album, ever. I'm listening to the album the second time through now, and I love it even more. I'm going to like it even more the third time around. This album is definitely awesome from the get-go, but it's a grower at the same time. I'm so happy right now.

 

But how much does Speed of Sound suck after you've heard the whole album?

 

Answer: A whole lot.

 

This new album goes in an entirely new direction. Speed of Sound, while a good song on its own, just sits in the middle of the album like a 'Clocks Redux.' All the other songs have similar threads, but Speed of Sound doesn't fit with the rest, in my opinion. Maybe I'll grow to like it more, but as of right now, it is completely jarring and I don't like it at all. The rest of the album is so much better than this song I can't bring myself to listen to it. I skip it while listening.

 

What are your guys' thoughts? What do you think of the song now that it's in the context of the album? Do you like it more? Like it less? Feel the same?

tis why Chris called it a transtion track.. but I have to agree.. there are far more better single worthy songs on the album... but I suppose this was the most 'radio friendly' track to get the ball 'rolling' so to speak. Explains why it wasnt released here in the states....

First coldplay album 'Parachutes' the track that gives title name to the album is the 7th and is 0:48; AROBTTH, the second album, the track that gives name to the album is the 10th song.

Every band put the song that gives name the album where they want, it's their album.

 

And honestly better songs use to be not the hits songs of the album.

 

I like the whole albums Parachutes and AROBTTH, but from 'Parachutes' my fave's are Spies, Trouble, High Speed and Everything's not lost; from AROBTTH my fave's are Green Eyes, Warning Sing, and Amsterdam.

 

But this don't mean you'll hate the album or that the album is bad, they write different songs with different styles as they did in their old works, so probably the fans that likes sweet balads as Green eyes and warning sign will like the slow new songs and the other way round with other songs of the album.

 

So in my opinion that's what makes the album a good one, because they have different styles on each song and also keep their own style.

I wish I could answer this question now. But I haven't heard the new album yet. I'm still abstinent with it. 5 days left till I'll buy it.... :rolleyes:

it's actually better coz you won't be stuck with a really short clip. It's a mega cliff-hanger :)
