A bit of a brash title, but brash because its honest... Life is hard yes?

 

I got like 4 emails from Busybeeurns and I decided to take a peak aboutthe place again, and look what I come to find: Coldplay better than Oasis and Radiohead.

 

Good my golly, I dont really give a fuck about Oasis (But theyre still better than Coldplay) but what is it that makes Coldplay good? Parachutes was mildly interesting and that was only because they stuck to being ANOTHER band making mainstream music, and they are a (Shrieks) DECENT band. But on Rush of Blood I guess they just tried to be the band that they simply arent; an interesting, melodic un-formulated band. The music is simply a toned down, tamer version of latter day Radiohead. To the guy who said in that fateful Coldplay vs Radiohead and Oasis topic, the reason Coldplays first two albums "Show more potential than Radioheads or Oasis's first 2" is because they simply took what Radiohead were perfecting after 10 years on the music circuit and licked off that, spat it into something called 'Parachutes'.

 

Of course Radiohead's first album wasnt going to be their best (But for the record, I really enjoyed it, a lot) but they were forming, and the Bends shoots anything that Coldplay could ever do straight into the water. I thought Pablo Honey was good for its rawness, it was a record no-one predicted would do well because it lacked the grunginess MTV audiences seeked at the time, but when they released Creep (After 'Stop Whispering') people began to buy Pablo Honey, and some were disapointed that there was not as much head banging and mosh pittin' as they wanted, but most were turned onto a new direction. Sure, some of it was simply 80's punk and brit pop but many songs off that album (Such as, Blow Out, Splurgee, Thinking About You, I Cant, Vegetable, Ripcord) ran along a distinct line of originality. Parachutes was stale.

 

And now what the hell are Coldplay going to do, they are totally screwed. They havent changed much at all since Parachutes, and if you look at the progression lines of Radiohead, from Pablo Honey, to an excellent Bends, to a mind blowing unbelievable album like OK Computer, and onto the dark and very original Amnesiac and Kid A. I cant wait to see the direction Coldplay run into, it'll be funny. They'll probably keep doing the same things over and over again for like 4 albums and no doubt some of you idiots out there will buy every one of them. Shucka.

What he failed to say that since OK Computer, total scaled sales for each radiohead album has been down on the last.

 

Sounds like the 4th album will have a different sound to X&Y
