Arrggh - the last thing I would want is cheesy stuff! And I am a 'pessimist' myself - certainly a realist! Just that I'm not really into such despairing lyrics as a lot of Radiohead's are. But I admit they are a brilliant band, and certainly had a big influence on both Travis and Coldplay, though I don't really understand why Travis were always labelled the 'new Radiohead.' Very different IMO.

Yes, I agree that a lot of their stuff is similar. I don't mind though - Fran Healy's gorgeous voice and acoustic guitar playing just puts me in a better mood!

I think Travis and Coldplay are similar in that they reached a sort of 'watershed' after three albums. I don't think Travis really knew which way to go - I think Coldplay will do better, despite that scary comment Chris made at the Brits about us not seeing them again for a long time!

haha those comments, well it was a "game with media" i think,he said it for being in the newspapers next day...not symphatic, but very clever move

in my opinion Coldplay can reach more than Travis because they handle better with media, especially Chris...and media has a big power nowadays...unfortunately

Thats maybe the worst thing about Coldplay-too much gossip,Chris always says smth scandal and everybody discuss it....It makes some ppl think that its the only reason why Coldplay are so popular

To be honest Lera, I don't think Chris can always help it. The media are onto him all the time like tarantulas. I also think he often comes out with stuff because he doesn't know what to say. Despite what some people think, he doesn't have a massive ego, and you can tell when you hear him talk sometimes that he is really quite shy. He just wants 'somebody listening to what he says!' I think he feels deeply the things he writes and is speaking personally when he says, 'Is there anybody out there who is lost and hurt and lonely too?'

I saw it just today and for me it was a (nice) surprise to see the guy who started this has a good 21,644 posts down here... I quit reading on page 4.

^^Did you forget your password?

Never mind..I thought you were an old member cos the name seemed familiar, but then i saw you joined up in Feb 2007..

Yeah, I heard of guy whos nickname was Steppenwolf, eventually his nickname is Faust now (as far as I know).

Oh yeah that was it....:wink2:

Oh it's been a year already... I don't even remember writing those things lol. Hard to believe there were times when I didn't listen to Radiohead and Nik thought that X&Y is good

:laugh4:

that was the first thing that I noticed as well when I saw your conversation.....

Is this the thread that began Reilly?

Woow.

:laugh3: :laugh3: :laugh3: Such a classic thread...

But I do appreciate that you tried to make a point, thanks, and now I'll defend my Radiohead...

Wow... Reilly standing up for Radiohead... he must have gotten over that phase by the time I got here- I just can't see it. (Well except for the part where I am already, but...)

So...

...who bumped the old thread?

I think Ian did.
