Well I liked Trouble when it came out,but I never bothered to even memorize the name of the band,I was totally captured when someone online recomended t The Scientist, the lyrics fit incredibly with a situation I was having with my bestfriend and so I fell in love with the song, and I checked more of their songs and thought yeah they're good,I think I became a fan officially when I got Parachutes and thought it was the best thing, that was I think back in late 2002/early 2003.

I had heard Yellow before but I didn't know who it was and I didn't bother to check cause I wasn't much into rock at the time. But then a beautiful day I rented "Wicked Park", heard the scientist :idea2: and I've been a fan ever since.

ME TOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! So good to hear there were others like me!

It's a long story, mine...I remember a friend told me that the song and video were really boring, so i didnt pay attention to it. Yeah, i was always doing whatever my friend told me to...then when i watched trouble video, it made me cry!!!! i dont know, its so depressing...so i didnt like it (well i was 11 and dumb), it made me feel like, i dont know how...it was kinda freaky. :embarrased:

2 years later 'in my place' was used in an advert, and i had to hear to it at 6:30 in the morning!!!!!!! before going to school, so i hated the fucking riff so much! (i'm hurting myself while typing this, ok?). And then i fell in love with Clocks! but I never could catch the part of the video/radio when they say who they are. And then i watched the 'god put a smile upon your face' video, which is great, and at the same time i found out coldplay were the ones who played clocks, so i ran to the stores and bought the CD 'A ruch of blood to the head'. 2 weeks later, when i saw Yellow video again, i went to buy Parachutes. THE END!!! (Are you bored now! well, you shouldnt have read it, i told you it was long! :P )

The first time I heard Coldplay was back when Yellow was first released. I was up late watching Mtv and the video came on. At the time I was into Ricky Martin (I know, I know  ) lol anyway, I heard Chris' voice and instantly was drawn to it. I sat there and couldnt beleive my ears. "Who was that?" I thought. I was so taken in that I didnt even pay attention to the name of the band or song. So, I stayed up late the next nite to see if I could catch it again and I had a tape in the vcr ready to record it. (I still have the tape) hehe anyway, I was thinking he was a solo artist and surprised to see it was a band named Coldplay. I went to the shop the next morning and bought Parachutes. I have been hooked ever since. I remeber going on and on about the cd to everyone I knew and always got the same response, "What is coldplay?" Now I cant find a single person who hasnt at least heard of them.

Well, I heard Yellow when it first came out, but being young then, I didn't realize the greatness that was Coldplay.

Anyway, around when A Rush of Blood to the Head was released, I was looking around in Target and saw it for $7.99. I had heard good things about it, and figured it was worth the risk. Well, I listened to it for a bit, but it didn't do too much for me. Two months later, I was sick, stuck at home, and bored...and I saw the CD and decided to give it another chance. :idea2: I was hooked. And I've been a Coldplay fan ever since!

I saw the video for Yellow back in college-I liked the song, but thought Chris was really dorking-looking! I really liked Trouble as well, but not enough to buy the album. (it takes alot of convincing for me to buy an album-if i do, it means i really, really, really, really love the band/singer)

When AROBTTH came out, everybody was saying such great things about it, but i wasn't convinced enough to buy the album. One late night, i was watching Conan O'Brien and Coldplay was the musical guest...Conan said Coldplay was his favorite band and to get their cd. So I bought it and was completely blown away! It's been love ever since! :D

Thanks Conan-you have great taste in music!

Loved reading everyone's story!

Isn't it strange how a first impression is overlooked and a second chance is the best thing that ever happened?

Well, my aunt had asked me to burn a CD and Trouble was one of the songs. I had known about Coldplay since they debuted, but was more a blossoming teeny bopper type at that time . So back to april 2003, as I was downloading, I decided, hmm let's see what this band has to offer and downloaded the whole lot. Fortunately, The Scientist was released as a single at that time and I happened to catch it late that night. I was blown away. Here was this handsome man, against a bright aqua background and a beautiful song playing in the back. :o

So naturally I bought AROBTH and the next week Parachutes. and when I like something I go all out get crazy. So it was Coldplay everything. And I discovered more about them, appreciated their music and wouldn't stop talking about Jonny, Guy, Chris and Will.

UNFORTUNATELY, I was not thinking clearly and didn't even check tour dates!

They had been to my town and gone ( march 3, 2003) before I realized to check the tour dates.

:x but oh well. I sulked and looked forward to the next time around. too bad it was 2 years later. I would died if they didn't release LIVE 2003 but I can't be mad now. That's why for the Twisted Logic Tour I was like " yeah I am making up for last year too!"

The first time I heard a Coldplay song was when Trouble was played on an episode of Roswell, much like Fix You showed up on an episode of the O.C. recently. Normally I didn’t care about the music on Roswell, they were always playing crap from the radio, but that one song haunted me like no other. I didn’t have a clue who the song was by, though, and never bothered to find out.

The second time I heard of Coldplay was from a friend who was obsessed with Yellow. She would sing it, very loudly and a bit out of tune. All. The. Time. It’s still my least favorite of Coldplay’s big songs, though I do finally like it now.

What I consider to be the first real time I heard Coldplay was January of 2003. I was working in a Walmart type store and had been listening to the same loop of about 20 cheesy Christmas songs playing for the last month and a half. Finally, something different was being pumped over the store radio. One afternoon, they played Clocks. I couldn’t even hear it very well, because the in-store speakers were so distorted, but I was completely transfixed. It was so beautiful. I think one of the customers had to wake me up out of the funny little trance the song put me into. I heard it over the radio a couple of times after that with the same result. It became my happy song- the song that would get me out of the worst moods. I had to find out who the song was by now, but I couldn’t. I would always miss it on the radio. Meanwhile, the girl who was so obsessed with Yellow, along with a couple of other influences had convinced me to look into these Coldplay guys a little more. So I tried one more song – Clocks – and it was the song- my happy song; the one I couldn’t find. I was flabbergasted. I listened to a second song. It was Trouble- that song I still remembered from Roswell a couple of years earlier. It was like a Twilight Zone moment, where all these random songs I had heard snippets of and loved all came from those guys I had ignored because they only played that song Yellow.

Elo, it sucks doesn't it? I mean this show was at a the Fox Theater which is a very very nice theater. It is perfect. It is intimate and it is just downtown about 15 miles away. I have read some of the reviews and it sounded amazing. I guess Will broke his drumstick during Politik and they played some new songs ( for the time being).

So I assume you will be seeing them this time around?

here is an article that shows a beautiful picture and gives a nice summary about it http://info.detnews.com/history/story/index.cfm?id=63&category=locations
