I've been listening to the recent live versions of Politik since X&Y was released e.g. Glastonbury 2005, Much Music 2005, VH1 etc., and I've to say the live performances of this song really stands out! In particular, the Much Music performance comes to mind.

 

I've never quite taken to the album version of the track from AROTTH but their new takes on the song have really made me fall for it... I think it's miles better now. Anybody agree with me? :D

Politik is one of the best Coldplay live tracks for sure.

The Grammy performance is by far the best live version IMO :)

live version is better than arobtth version but hearing it live in concert its just unbelievably amazing :P

I love Politik on the album, and witnessing it live is just...indescribable. First time in my live I've ever let go like that.

No, it was at the Toronto buzz gig.

live best parts: chris screams to start off the song, then goes "aahhhh yyyeeeeahhh" when the first guitars are building up...then of course the added piano at the end. live wins

i'm partial to the album version - but the live versions I have heard are incredible no doubt - the 2nd half of the song is incredibly stirring to the soul

I love the album version but the live version blows me away every time. Especially the end piano he did on the last tour... I hope he keeps doing that :)

I've onyl heard the version from the Live 2003 DVD, and based on that one, I feel the studio version is superior. It just doesn't feel so flawless and swelling on the DVD; it feels like it derails.

 

"A Rush of Blood to the Head", however, is vastly superior in concert. A dangerous, almost folksy vibe emanates from that one...

 

(That last sentence reads as though 'folksy' is a sinister or ominous word...)

It's better live, it's the perfect way to start a concert. :D

I love, LOVE the version that's on the Live 2003 CD. It's amazing. Especially how Chris uses his voice at the end. *Shivers* Wonderful. :)
