No the sex pistols most certainly are not EMO. I just used a well known punk band (Sex Pistols) and a well known EMO band (Dashboard) for the sole purpose of genre comparison.

Dashboard is NOT emo, its not even close, its as emo as coldplay. nothing emo about it. please learn your music.....

people generalize music too much, alot of people who dont understand indie call indie music like dashboard emo.... when they are 2 different types of music.

Well then insert your favorite EMO band then in place of the non-emo, "indie" (this is funny), Dashboard Confessional. Who the hell cares? I was just comparing the bands. The purpose of my original message was to simply state that fashion trends have no place in music, and to tell whoever said that EMO was like Punk to compare both genres. I couldn't care less about EMO, I dont even listen to it. I have no desire to.

 

Dont tell me to learn my music. I know plenty of music. This is coming from someone who asked if the Sex Pistols were EMO. :lol: YOU learn YOUR music.

You learn your music about learning music and ill learn about learning music and ill learn.....

some emo is close to punk, jimmy eat world being an example... but i really dont know alot about punk... i listen to more indie/hardcore/emo stuff...

Jimmy Eat World is in no way true punk, nor close to being true punk music.

Jimmy eat world is emo, but it sounds close to punk to me.. but im not a big fan of punk so.... well jimmy eat world is modern emo.

Why do you people care so much about clasifying music, just listen what you like regardless of the way someone else or media clasifies it(I'm sure i misspelled this).
