first I wanna say that i am and always will be a coldplayfan...but I do find chris'sings way to high in the new album !! it really bothers me cause I find it hard to sing along !!! I do think they can't make that mistake again with the fourth album !!!

This is what I recognised first when I listened to the album for the first time...when I heard fix you I thought:"Oh no why is he singing so high?!"

But then at the end of the song he sings with the deep voice that sounds much better...

I got familiar with it now!

I hope they change it in the next album!

I can sing along it;'s not that hard  but if you say so...okay

I don't care... love it. :D

Um... so if you can't sing along with it, that automatically makes it a mistake that should never be done again?

I'm really quite confused.

No that's not the point we don't like it if chris sings so high.I like it more when he sings deeper....

I like when he sings high because it seperates Coldplay from the other bands who's lead singer can only sing in one range.

Plus, I cannot sing low at all, so I love being able to scream along SLIGHTLY in tune with Chris! :P

(But I find the low singing very sexy as well.... Hm. Just as long as it never gets Jim Morrison low, we'll be fine! Oh god, I'm rambling again  )

i don't like the 'oooooh!' that X&Y has on every song...i mean, for example, i love What if, til the point he starts singing 'ooooh that's riiiight!'...It's too much of it, in my opinion :/

I prefere the low range, but i have to agree that the high is one of the things that makes the band different from other ones.

I agree the end of Fix You is the best vocal bit.

I can sing along fine with the high notes, but not low. And I think Chris sounds great both ways.

i like it both ways....

Don't we all... :wink3:

..........Sorry. I couldn't resist...... :o

:toilet:

I'm a potty mouth, what can I say?

:smartass2: :smash:

I think Shiver from Parachutes is one of the best examples of Martin using his excellent vocal range high to get the best balance. He hits good low notes and good high notes, really makes me enjoy the song more.

By the way, personally it's not a big deal if I can sing along perfectly to the artist's voice - in a way, if I could, I should be singing with a band too, right? ;)

I love the "Oooooh's" and "Aaaaaah's" in What If, much like Fix you, it goes from this slower part to a huge grandiose finale. Although it's in reverse, from bass to falsetto in What If with the opposite (sorta) in Fix You.

I agree. I don't like the "oohs" too much. The part that I love most about X&Y (the song) is the beginning.

I love it! He has such a wide range (for a guy. :P). And I love the "Ohh"'s, they're fun to sing a long to... er, well, if you can. :) Especially that "Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-ohhhh" in White Shadows. :D

Low, high, it really doesn't matter, IMO. He sounds great all the time...

I love his high singing it shows he has talent..it must be harder for a guy to sing high than to sing low, but i guess that depends. His low singing is great too tho :D
