Just... wow. I can't help, really, because I'm not experienced enough...

But wow.

I'm with you. No experience here either. I guess that gives me some very unbiased advice or possibly bad advice, but we can just try.

yeah, KM, that is kinda how i feel too -- WOW :o it is overwhelming

If you start him at the academy is there any reason you can't take him out if you change your mind? I don't think that would happen, but that's not to say I feel it would be unlikely.

i don't know - i think it might be better to delay going than to get there and have them invest in him, then take him out - hell, i don't know... i wish kentucky was a more artistic minded place. it is hard finding resources here.

I may just be a 13 yr old kid but i think you should talk to him about it, see if he likes the idea and like 'thebestyoucan'(eric is it?) said you could take him out if he doesnt like it. And by the way wouldnt he be starting school soon anyway?

oh, you live in ky... have you done a search in kentucky?

(but kentucky is the bluegrass state ;)... actually my cousin went to some sort of art school in ky I think, of course it was a college... maybe I'm wrong...)

i am going to talk to him, just wanted to get all the facts and get myself straight with it first. i guess the biggest problem i have with it right NOW, is that they want him to start in january, and there is no way i can arrange things here financially, work-wise, sell the house, etc. by then... so he would have to be up there without me - and i don't like it... he may be gifted, but he is just a tiny kid.

there is centre college in danville, kentucky... and i live in lexington where UK is. but other than private lessons, which he already has, there is not a performing arts school around here.

oh I see..... that is a bugger of a problem

As long as you don't have to make the decision this week. Making quick decisions is very very hard. What kind of place would he be living in when he's not learning?

:(

as for living arrangements, the lady on the phone said that boarding students usually live with the families of teachers or other students who live in the area. which is just a weird prospect for me.

you'll definitely want to know who he's living with. I wouldn't trust anyone...

well.. my name is Loreto.. hehe.. not loreta.. but that's ok...

and.. well.. I have a lot of things to do.. I have to study.. hehe.. so..

have a good night you all...

bye

cya, i think christiana, that you should maybe take a little holiday just to see your son get settled in, but then that is probably too much of a problem for you.
