Wanna help me with math?

Featured Replies

you all are older and smarter than me, so... you wanna help me with my math? I'm a hopeless student... lol

I listen to the lecture, take notes, but by the time class is over, I forget *everything*, and I stare at my notes like I'm looking at a foreign language (which it is right now...)

I don't even get the first problems of my assignment--or the whole chapter we're in for that matter...

for instance... 3 ln x = ln 4 + ln 2

whhaaaa...?

god... this is pathetic. :(

I want to help but is difficult,cause I dont have a pencil and paper.

In what language are you reading the book?

  • Author

^^yesh.

^english, lol. I was joking around with the 'foreign language' thing... haha

3(ln)(x) = ln(4) + ln(2)

3lnx = 4ln + 2ln

3lnx = 6ln

-------------

3ln

x = 2

i'm not certain, but i think this is how it is solved....

I..... I think you're right. :)

I'm assuming that you meant the ln's cancel out and then it's 3x = 6.... and... x=2.

w00t, it's right. yay! :) thanks. :D

^if i remember maths correctly, yes. :lol: :lol:

you're welcome, Alyssa.

:huh: :huh: :huh:

God I hated maths. Glad that's behind me. :stunned:

i like math very much and tomorrow i have an examn, stressy!!

cant you simplify that further to lnx=2ln?

dont believe me though :embarrased:

Actually, I don't understand Gail's calculation ^^

This is, how I'd do it:

3 * ln(x) = ln(4) + ln(2)

ln(x * x * x) = ln(4 * 2)

ln(x³) = ln(8) | now you can clear the ln()

x³ = 8

x = 2

Kinda weird, but it's clear, though :-)

:lol: good boys and girls they are studying even on here!! btw isnt it a bit early for solving ln questions in the age 14??

Lol, yeah.... by the way winnie got it right. ;)

Yes maybe you're right!

okay, okay maybe we can start some classes in here! how exciting it would be! :book2: :smart:

Okay I was kidding, no reason to be scared people... :rolleyes:

im doing a degree in maths,and i cant even remember how to work it out,jesus. :lol:

^ here (in spain) we call to neperian log to this symbol and the calculators have the key of the "ln"!! :lol:

hehe, thanks. that's right. I just figured this out today during class. 0_o

Kinda funny because both ways get the same answer... :P

but.. yeah... hehe

ln = natural log

shouldn't it be nl??

ln = logarithmus naturalis...

stupid latin language *g*

@allyssa:

yeah, it appears very often in maths, that wrong calculations lead to the right result, though... that's one of the many oddities of maths :-)
