Wow, I am amazed at this track. This is wayyyy up there with I Ran Away as best B-Side ever. I think it's actually better than Talk. ^_^

I feel like this track was produced by someone different - - this IS the direction I'd hoped to see Coldplay go - - lo-fi like Parachutes - - pump up the rythms and make that production complex but keep the trademark simple beauty that is Coldplay -= - how is this not on the album?!?!?!

it wouldnt have fit well on x&y...hence why they decided to make kingdom come a "hidden track." Revert back to parachutes type stuff

I just heard it, and I'm flabbergasted. It's so beautiful. I was grinning ear to ear all the way through. Definatly my favorite X&Y b-side.

A lot of people have been saying that this should have been on the album, but I don't think it was part of the X&Y Sessions ....

I believe it was recorded after. During their American tour they worked on a few new songs. I remember reading that one was soft and the other loud (something like that) in the tour diary. This is probably the "soft" one!

It's a good song, but no masterpiece... and defenitley not good enough for the album... it's a good B-Side, nothing more :)

All bands must evolve musically to survive.

The music industry is a mirror world of our own, only it evolves much quicker. Things change and you must evolve to survive or you will parish as your world evolves leaving you behind. Just imagine if no one broke away from earlier music… we would all be listening to classical, folk or disco. We NEED evolution in music, those bands that do not evolve die! Coldplay is still Coldplay. Sleeping sun, (if it is their new direction) is a fantastic song with a great new sound. It is reminiscent of their first two albums being acoustic guitar dominated yet has the complexity of X&Y. We can’t live in the past, just sit back and enjoy the beauty of the evolution of music through this incredible band for years to come.

I agree that the song wouldn't fit into X&Y very easily, and I do think it was written afterwards. But it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if they had saved it, recorded it a little more carefully, and then built an album around it. I think it would have ended up alot closer to parachutes. On the other hand they might have ended up going country. *shudders* But that's all just hypothetically speaking.

Let's hope this bodes well for the future, anyway.

Oh yeah, I too knew when I started listening to it that it was gonna be another new favorite song. I love it, its perfect. Describing feelings in me, in all of us, I could never do myself.

 

Love that song.....and I love all the b-sides, some more than others, but I think all of them are gorgeous and have something to them....I dont know where they all rate yet but what a wonderful addition this one is.

I think it's "alright". The reason I say so is because it sounds like something Dave Mathews Band would make and I hate them, lol. Other than that, it's alright.

Because X&Y are explosive songs (a new style for them), every album is different, and putting sleeping sun or gravity in it would be repetetive.

Sleeping sun would go well with parachutes and Gravity with AROBTTH but not X&Y
