Porcupine Tree

I love how the CD's supposed to come out the day after your concert. XD I don't know, I find that cool in a way. I think they should start selling it early right after the concert ends.

You know what'd be a challenge? Play the first disc of The Incident. Then play Anesthetize. God, I can't imagine how they do it. Their hands must cramp up incredibly.

I think you can rest well assured that IF Anesthetize appears this tour, it WON'T be regularly, or if it does, then odds are, The Incident isn't played in it's entirety that specific show. The setlist would be too cramped to include too many other things.

It is kind of cool in a way that the album doesn't hit stores until after the concert, meaning I could stop by some obscure record store on the way home and buy it, hehe.

But knowing Steven, not all of us on this end of the pond who will be going before the 22nd will be in the dark when the first notes are played!

Hmmm.

Hmmmmmmm.

'Sup guys?

I've been a fan of PT since late last summer. Of course, I ended up getting pulled in by Lazarus, hehe. Surprisingly, it took me a considerably longer length of time to warm up to them than I typically do to bands but it was well worth it as they've pretty well essentially changed and broadened my musical horizons for the better. I couldn't stand heavier music yet before PT came along.

My favourite song is Pure Narcotic (see user title) and my favourite album is Deadwing, by far. Absolutely love it as an album and the cover is gorgeous - I love Lasse Hoile's work. I'd say the only song I DON'T care for, on that album at least, is Glass Arm Shattering.

I can't wait for The Incident. I have tickets to see them in September.

Deadwing IS by far there best album :D

Keep us up to date on what they play in september for you, I want to now what to expect when I see them :D

Truth!

There is no better album with a better tracklisting. I wish they would've used Half Light instead of Glass Arm Shattering, but I can understand why they did it, I think!

I suspect we are in for quite a treat this tour. I really can't wait.

Have you ever seen them before? Oct will be my first time :)

Nope, I got into them when they were just wrapping up over the UK. I was a little pissed at myself when I found out that I hadn't missed seeing them by much more than a year!

I hear they put on a hell of a show. Between the lighting rigs and projections, I'm sure it's a feast for the eyes as much as it is for the ears!

I'm seeing this band later in the year :)

Which is the best album to start from?

Well, if you are into metal, I'd say In Absentia or Deadwing, if you like the poppy stuff, I'd go with Stupid Dream. Most of their albums are quite solid, but those are ace starting points.

'The Incident' arrives in stores September 22, and features a ton of epic guitar solos. The songs shift from hard-driving riffs to acoustic interludes to the kind of ambient noise that could only be described as the sound you'd imagine a robot's stomach might make if he were hungry - assuming robots have stomachs.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh yeahhhh!

That reminds me of Bass Communion.

I need to listen to some of that, the only other stuff ive heard from wilson was insugergents and a bit of blackfield.

His other stuff is mostly good. I haven't found much I don't like. Bass Communion is by far the favourite for me, though No-Man is also really good. Neither of them are any Porcupine Tree to most fans, but they definitely have an appeal their own. I love how his projects all show different aspects of his musical personality.

Reccomend me a bass communion track, thats most PT.

Ahahaha, none of it's like PT really. Bass Communion is ambient/drone/noise for the most part.

Though, some of the stuff WAS recycled for PT, like, the background music.

So I guess I'll have to go with 43553E99.01, which can be found on Bass Communion III. You might find a striking resemblance to a certain IA era song. ;)

I must admit, I was a little hesitant to even click the play button for the preview. These things usually make me nervous and terribly distort my impending expectations for the worst. But I am so glad I listened to it. It sounds amazing. I'm really looking forward to it!

I'd like to sleep through August, thanks. :D

I've been in such a PT mood recently. And only recently have those videos of the interviews and such from Roadrunner Records worked for me. Favourite part was with that cat during the behind the scenes video. XD

How's everyone doing? Excited as I am for the new album?

I love Porcupine Tree's style. :wacky:
