Wow. What a year. And the fact that I'm seeing them again THIS year (and possibly more than once!!!!!!!!!!!) is just bliss!

 

Hmmm. What things stood out to me...

 

1)Rediscovering the band. I sort of had a falling out with them back in '04 because I honestly thought they had broken up, I kept waiting for the album!! :cry: Those were dark days indeed. Then they announced X&Y's release date and I fell in love all over again!!

 

2) August 6th! My first time ever seeing them (4 years in the making, sheesh), and boy did it live up to my expectations.

 

Oh damn, I've got to go right now to my piano lessons. I didn't get to finish! Well, I'll add more later!

 

(AndTexasluvsjonny, I want to hear more about you talkin to Will when I get back, THAT'S SO AWESOME!!!! Wow!)

When it was over I was like, did that just happen. Replayed it over and over! :lol: That was so fucking HOT!

oooh Nettie what a great thread...where do I start???

 

1. At the beginning of the year I worked in Italy for a few months and I was feeling quite lonely and homesick. I had a TV and would watch MTV all the time. One night they had a Coldplay night with interviews and then the gig they did for MTV to showcase X&Y. It was like one of the few things that was just subtitled and not dubbed so I could watch and understand it! It made me so happy - like a little piece of home. :D (And I was LOVING the new album!! :cool: )

2. The actual release of X&Y. It's been a long wait, but definately well worth it.

3. [watching] Live 8 [on tv] :lol: . FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC! :lol: Took them to a whole other level in my opinion. Unfortunately I missed out on seeing them in Glasgow because I had just gotten back from Italy. :cry:

4. Finding this place and meeting all you guys. You all make me laugh, there's always someone here to chat to and it's absolutely the best forum I have ever seen for downloads, b-sides, photos, bootlegs, videos.....you guys RAWK!!! :D

5. Finally going to see them live!!!!!!!!!!! Although I now wish I had gone on thursday night (! :angry: !) it was the best gig I've ever been to :cool: I was on such a high after it I couldn't sleep :lol: (wish you were there Nettie so I could have talked to you about it. Tasha just fell asleep! :lol: )

6. Young Mr Champion!!! Until I saw him in the Italy interview I had always been a Chris fan. So I would say that Will is my 'best bit' from 2005 :lol: And specifically.........

Highlights of the year:

-Getting X&Y just days before I had a 7 week trip to New Zealand, thus making the 25 Coldplay songs I had at the time the soundtrack for the experience

-Going to a music store in Taupo, NZ and asking for a tattered Coldplay poster sitting outside but instead getting three brand new ones

-Australian Rolling Stone and a NZ music magainze becoming my only reading material :D

-Buying Coldplay Live 2003 and the SoS single while there

-Begging my mom to buy concert tickets [while I was still in NZ] the best Christmas present EVER

-Having to buy CP live 2003 AGAIN because the one from NZ doesn't work here :D

-Finding this message board.

-Finding Jonny. God, what would I do without him

When my extreme Coldplay phase was launched on August 19. First CP concert... first concert ever. I was in a daze for like a week. And Coldplaying.com just added fuel to the fire. :lol:

Seeing Coldplay live at Earl's Court on 16th Dec - my very first Coldplay concert and they completely blew me away, they totally rocked! Best concert i've ever been to, i'm now desperate to see them again! :D

Must add in 2 things.

I always make bail arrangements before I go to shows, just in case. :lol: Before I went to ACL taping I called my friend and told her I was going and asked if she was off that night. She was off and had the money if needed. My friends all know I'm crazy. lol

What a year finding this forum.Going to my first ever proper concert when i saw Coldplay in Marlay Park and i went with my mate a few words.Thank God i went woth him because he is the jammiest person i know and because of that somehow we got passes for the pit.It was a scorching day the warm up acts superb and the main act electrifying easily the best day of my life! this just days after i got my hands on x & y.MY three other reflections of the year are in the form of their songs.Speed of sound at the VMA's,Fix You at Live 8 (s much emotion in Chris' voice especially bit where he says "I promise you I will learn from my mistakes" and lastly Talk at the EMA's just because this performance kicked some serious ass! :wink3:

Bohs Man.

1) Picking up X&Y on the release date and getting a small poster of the guys with it. Putting it up on my wall right over the gigantic one I had there already as soon as I got home. And of course, listening to the album for the first time, and reading over the lyrics to try to drill them into my head better.

2) Watching Storytellers on MuchMoreMusic. Particularly Chris telling the story of how Yellow almost could've been called Playboy. :P And when he was talking about the band and how one person's like this and another's like that and on and on, and then saying that altogether it made them the 17th best band in the world. (I don't actually remember the number he'd said :/ Gah.)

3) Listening to Coldplay when I was feeling ridiculously down and out. It gives me something to hold on to...

 

And by far the best one of all:

 

4) Unwrapping a calendar as one of my last Christmas presents, being told to mark off a certain day, wondering why. Asked my mom when she was marking the day off, "Okay, why the hell are we marking off some random day on my calendar?" Off she went into her bedroom, opened a drawer, rooted around for a bit, closed it, came back out, and presented four Coldplay tickets for the March 17 show in Ottawa. :o I was in shock for 20 minutes or so. I was seriously just sitting down in a chair staring around the living room. I was like this: :stunned: By far the most amazing moment of the year...*le sigh* :heart:
