Coldplay, Kaiser Chiefs and James Blunt are among the artists announced to play at the Brit Awards.

Paul Weller will also perform on the night and will receive a lifetime achievement award.

Other artists confirmed for the event include KT Tunstall, Kelly Clarkson and Kanye West.

The Brit Awards will be held at London's Earl's Court on 15 February and will be broadcast on ITV1 the following evening.

DJ and TV presenter Chris Evans will be hosting the awards for the second year running.

The nominations will be announced on Tuesday.

Last year's big winners were the Scissor Sisters, Franz Ferdinand, Keane and Joss Stone.

Weller's lifetime achievement award covers his solo career and his time in The Style Council and The Jam, when he scored four number one singles.

Brit organisers said: "The outstanding contribution award is the highest honour the UK record industry can bestow.

"It is reserved for those whose influence, longevity and creativity put them in the very top ranks of UK artists.

"Paul Weller is an artist who scores on every measure and typifies the range and quality of British music at its best."

Don't worry...when I was in Paris for a college art trip...one of the nights was when Coldplay where there (29th Nov)...I had a crazy idea of finding the arena and its back entrances etc and trying to catch a glimpse of them lol! My friends told me its too cold...plus we wanna get drunk lol! I was looking out for them around Paris but it was pointless lol!!
