why do you wanna learn danish

It's been a dream of mine to learn Danish and visit Denmark. I find all of Scandinavia to be pretty fascinating. I listen to a LOT of Scandinavian bands but most of the ones I listen to do their songs in English. My favorite band in the world is Mew, I also like Raveonettes, Superheroes, Swan Lee, Efterklang, Junior Senior and Under Byen.

 

All of those artists are Danish. I also like a lot of Norwegian and Swedish artists. I don't listen to any Finnish ones... I guess if it weren't for Mew I wouldn't listen to any of the bands I've named or any Scandinavian artists, probably.

You should really check out Mando Diao, a swedish band who is one of my favorites band.

They are the second best band who come from Sweden. (the best is Kent). :)

Mew are the shit..they are so underrated back here and dont get the credit they deserve...The band superheroes is from my town (skive. they are cool and thomas troelsen is amazing. Swan lee are really good..do you know the lead singer from Swan lee is married with a former guitarist from mew. They have their own band now wich is pretty cool...My former teacher´s two kids are the founders of under byen... Cant bellive an american are into those bands..respect ;)

And it's Mews former bassist, Johan Wohlert, isnt it? :confused: Pernille Rosendahl is so beautiful and telented. I haven't listened to the Storm but a few times but I will try to listen to more of their music. I hope they have great success.

 

I have loved Mew for only a few years since I first heard of them, but I have learned just about every thing about them. I read their journal religiously and follow their projects outside Mew.

 

And I never have thought Mew was underrated there! They are so good. What would be most overrated music in Denmark? Hopefully not our American imported pop garbage. If so, I am very sorry. :shame:

Yeah it is Johan & Pernille who formed The storm..We hardly never hear anything to the mew back in denmark..maybe they are working on getting more succes internationally wich they should be able to get. Actually when I think of the small population we have here I must say that we have some very talented bands...And thank god you know some danish bands. I just got back from 4 month in Fort Worth,tx and all they new from denmark was the 90´s band Aqua...:( if you remember them

I remember them and thats a shame! aqua is not good. they beat mew out of a best new artist DMA in 1997. How sad. :(

 

Mew is getting more popular outside of denmark, but i think they deserve at home as well. :)
