I am amazed at how little a response this has gotten, maybe I should have put it in

the International thread. Oh well. I thought it was huge, and I am not even from

Chile or anything. But it is the first female president of Chile and many

conservatives were against her because she has divorved and had a child out of

wedlock (and that affects the scores and all). Plus her rival, Sebastian Pinera...is

a sucessful businessman. It is like, a giant revolution that she has been voted for.

:/

Oh yes....openly agnositc

many things that kept conservatives from voting for her....but so much contreversy with Sebastian Pinera....that most would rather vote for her

it doesn't seem that she's a traditional politician which is good...maybe her leadership will bring reforms to Chile, if the country ever needs one.

If this had happened in 1990, I would've been all for it (If I had have been older then 3 :P haha)

But in today's Chile, main issues such as tackling inequality do not seem at the forefront, and I'm surprised she got in. A socialist looking to change relations with the military? Hmm...

Yeah, she has a tough run ahead of her. I don't know if she will be able to handle it, but she will give it her damn hardest...like new positions and really different methods. You know?

Well, on the other hand, she is definately suited for Chile right now over someone like Pinera.

Best of luck to her.

I dunno. I thought since he has successfully managed businesses before, that maybe he could better the economy?

Hmm.. some think that the president of Chile is quite similar than ours(though the new elections take part on next sunday), Tarja Halonen.. both are women, I heard their hair is similar :D, the elections were about the same time (well it's not sure if Halonen will be our next president as she has a tough competitor) and they even got about the same percentage of votes (well, Halonen got that in the first round though..)..

Well, just ignore me, I've got nothing better to do.. and I'm not tired at all although it's midnight and I should be in school tomorrow... :P
