Coldplay Fume Over Ticket 'Scalpers'

Coldplay have been left fuming after learning tickets for their shows in Las Vegas has been selling for a whopping £700 ($1,260) online.

Ticket prices for the February 3 concert at Sin City's MGM Grand started at £28 ($50), but some internet sites have been selling seats for up to 25 times their face value.

A source said: "Coldplay never charge much for gig tickets because they want them to go to genuine fans. They are very strict about it. They could charge loads more for them, like many other acts do. But the last thing they want is for fans to be priced out of going to their gigs. Unfortunately there is very little the band can do to stop greedy scalpers from buying loads of tickets then flogging them on the net. The sites that offer these expensive tickets are not part of the official Coldplay site."

Tickets for the gig at the 17,000 capacity venue sold out in just seven minutes.

This is what pisses me off! Im worried about the next time of going to a CP concert (if I have the chance) that I'll miss out on tickets cos of these bastards. Id like to see bands and their management make a bit more of an effort to make sure real true fans get their tickets. I know this could be hard but theres gotta be some way to do it.

^ :stunned: Woah, i only just noticed that part. Thats pretty fuckin cool

£700, thats just totally nuts. I cant actually believe that. Ca-raaaazy! :dizzy:

The sad thing is, is that the guys went to great lengths the ensure that scalpers didn't get their hands on any of the tickets, but I imagine that it's nearly impossible to eliminate it completly.

And, if you think about it, a Coldplay show if probably a scalper's wet dream. They're the biggetst band in the world and they seel floor seats to their shows at a very reasonable price for a band their size. So they buy a 2nd row seat for what... 60 dollars or so after charges and then sell if for about 500 dollars (Or more). That's a 440 dollar profit for just ONE TICKET.

And I got my 5th row seats to the Orlando show on the official auction and I got two tickets for alittle under 400 dollars (With a portion of that to charity). And then I look on a ticket broker's web site and the same seats are going for 915 a pop.

Man. People suck.

I apperciate Coldplay keepng their ticket prices down though. :)

That's just so fucking EVIL!

oh yeah....those people are just so effing nuts, ripping off cp fans!!!

they should be destroyed!!

I mean, is there EVER going to be a way to stop this from happening? It really pisses me off! Maybe they should just hand out the tickets themselves.... :smug:

Craptastic.

that's just... crazy.

I read that there might be limited tickets in the future, that means for example that only 2 tickets can be ordered from one person. I think I would support this idea. it's already the concept for robbie williams tickets.

bruce springsteen had something about the persons name had to be on your ticket so you had to bring your id which i thought was good.. they should all do like that

ughhh those damn scalpers!

I don't really know how they can get rid of them, but it is so unfair for the tickets to be that expensive. But if I had that much money and needed a ticket I would gladly pay that much, and I think that's why the scalpers keep getting business. but sadly I can't just pay 600 for floor seats.

But on the other hand I think if you do want really good seats, you have to put forth the effort! check the website, stay up to date with emails, know when presales are, or get to ticket offices early. it is sometimes annoying to hear ppl complain that they missed the presale or didn;t know they were coming to their town.

On that note I do have an extra ticket to the 2/22 show. Because I want a fan to have the ticket. and I won't turn scalper on you guys. :P

where is your extra ticket for?

I have a crappy ticket..

and Im going alone.. :/

hey mandy, its section 102, row r.

I just PMed you about it..

my seat is for section 219, row2 seat 11..
