when i was little i was a bit more outgoing, but since i was 10 i've sucked at public speaking. I get all red and my heart beats really really fast, i feel like something's going up and down my throat and it seems i'm choking. Also my voice comes out in a low volume, and people start saying 'LOUDER'...it really sucks.Oral lessons are the worst.

Ahhh Maiu, I hate when they say "LOUDER!". Makes it even worse.

yep

One time the biggest asshole in my class said 'can you put in the middle?? i can't hear you.

The same guy during a biology oral lesson about STDs asked to my group 'Do you know where is our country placed at the international public health ranking??

-No,sorry.

-Oh,ok,I was just asking (mother fucker)

Yeah...cuz my voice is like, >>>> . <<<<that loud ...

And it just messes me up...get mics or something you know?

I wouldn't dare to speak with a mic...teachers should cut oral lessons off completely

Yeah, it depends in my case too.

If you randomly pick me to speak about something I don't know much about.. I stumble, mumble and laugh a lot ('cause I know I'm making a fool out of myself and it makes me laugh) but if you again pick me randomly and I have to speak about something I might know a litle bit of.. I never finish! and always end up going off topic then back to the topic and off topic again and back to topic again.. it's like that. :smug: :embarrased: But if I already knew I was gonna be doing a public speaking..I do just fine unless there's a cute guy then it's moving on to plan C which is: "Look at the celling...look at the wall..look at the celling... look at the celling!!! " :smug:

Dont be that afraid!

As much as you hate it, you have to stand back and realise that it is just another challenge. Even when I used to hate the idea of speaking infront of lots of people, I realised that there are lots of ways that it could get me further in life.

It's just another one of life's difficult little challenges, so try and embrace it ;)

nah...some aspects they help..like good tips for relaxing i learned in speech class and they have really helped me feel like i have more control when speaking.

but it is real nerve wrecking

I don't have problems with public speking if I have a strong opinion on the subject, like on a good debate, but with lessons it's different because I have to remember stuff and say it in order, and I get really nervious

Yeah, it depends in my case too.

:nice: CUTE!!!

I love it when people laugh during thier speeches...it's hot. :serious:

today is election day in Portugal and i didn't even make a winning speach yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking in front of people?

Well..................in school.....I sometimes make a funny thing of it.........I don't know why.I think I want to be cool and make it a bit more easy going for my mates......but if it is a really important speach then I sometimes pronounce words in the wrong way or stumble...but in general I don't have a big problem with it!

Oh... as long as it's a small amount of people watching my speech it's okay... but mor than 20 people (especially when I don't know 'em really) is the hell for me :-)

I always start to do funny and crappy things during my speeches... For example in a physics presentation while I was holding the chalk in my hand I swung my arm kinda fast (don't know why today)... too fast to keep the chalk in my hand... it flew about a distance of 20 feet directly in a trashcan... the audience was laughing and clapping, 'cause they thought I did that wilfully... I was a little bit confused but I could rescue myself with smiling and saying "Physics, Ladies and Gentelemen!" ;)

I know things like that Felix! :P

But you didn't do it in purpose right?

I can mention one example when we made or presentation for our Barcelona class trip:

I only had to show things at the overhaed projector with a pen..........I don't know why but I stood there ,was smiling all the time..and awlays forgot to change the pen to the right place..........I don't know why I do these things.maybe I don't want the others to think that I don't take things too serious or something like that

:P the headmaster was also there.............

I'm the complete opposite to you Winnie

I used to have to do it loads in school. I honestly don't know how I got into it and I can't remember the first time, but I'm sure it was awful. There's nothing worse than speaking to a somewhat small group of about 30 people who you know because it feels like they're all judging you and their opinions matter to you

Thank god I don't have to anymore because I don't think I could keep my head off the floor and stop my face from going purple!

I love to speak in front of lots of people, next month I have to speak for about 150 people :D I like it when all these persons are paying attention to you and to what you're saying as if it really is imporant :P (this time its gonna be important :) )

Many people have said that I have a good voice, it's loud and clear and sounds good too. But I'm really nervous if I have to speak to lots of people, especially if I don't know them. So, with good friend I'm vety talky :D:D but in crowd I get so... speechless :D and I get out of breath 'cos I'm so nervous that I forget to breathe... :P :D

I hate speaking in general. :K

I can't even talk on the phone. :( :( :(

I'm good when it come to speak in front of people. I have a fluent and clear way to do it.

the problem is that I don't like it, I get really nervous, but if I have to do it, I do

I hate speaking in general. :K

I can't even talk on the phone.

I can't talk on the phone either!! I suck at it, i often get those weird blanks and then'.....so...yep...ok....bye'

i used to be afraid of speaking in front of large groups back in elementary school ... :D

i don't have a problem with that ... dunno why ... though i am kinda shy ;)

I'm terrified of speaking in front of people. All those people staring at you...
