White Shadows Next Single!!! (CNN Latin America)

Featured Replies

I REALLY HOPE THIS IS TRUE!!! It's my favorite Coldplay song EVER. In fact, it's my favorite SONG ever! Not releasing it would be terrible! I'm PRAYING that this is true! The concensus seems to like WS ALOT (ALOT ALOT ALOT ALOT ALOT ALOT) more than The Hardest Part! Really excited for an official confirmation!

:stunned: I wouldn't say this...we were all jumping and singing like crazy during this song...I think it would be perfect :smug:

Runs back to the midi drawing board to rework my old White Shadows midi *RIP*

why don't I watch CNN??!!! i was really surprised about the hardest part I thought that would be the last song in the album to make it as a single.. and I think white shadows would make a much better video

Guys, what does it matter is WS is not the fourth single? You can still listen to it whenever you want on the CD if it isn't. And regardless of what the 4th single will be, it won't change other people's opinions about Coldplay......

Absolutely true. BUT...singles really make an artist. Album sales are important, but an artist NEEDS hit songs (if they want to be mainstream). I'm sure you wouldn't say the same thing about Clocks or Yellow if they were left on the album. Can you imagine that! It's also important that Coldplay choose their singles wisely because they want as many people to buy the album as possible...and that's what singles do: promote the album. Releasing a bunch of boring songs surely won't boost album sales! It all works together. PLUS...being a single is sort of like a special recognition for a song. By an artist/group releasing a single, they're saying that the song is special and above all. Of course Coldplay have VERY good album tracks, but few people outside of the fanbase know them. White Shadows is a song that deserves to be heard by the public. The Hardest Part is not. If I weren't a Coldplay fan...I would LAUGH at it if I heard it on the radio. Because I am Coldplay fan, however, I do like it because I know about the band and their personalities. White Shadows is still better.

LOL wow I didn't know this will be this huge, but I really hear the host of Escenario telling that, she was presenting new videos from new singles, and when she said 'here's Coldplay and their new single White Shadows' I was like :o OMG and they show them in a concert singing White Shadows. So, now I really hope is true because you are gonna kill me if it isn't, even if I inocent :/ hahaha. I gotta said I love white shadows since the day I heard it from the first time, and If WS is not a single, it would be like not letting Clocks be a single. So now I REALLY CROSSING MY FINGERS FOR WHITE SHADOWS!!!

Paul

You've good a good point, but think about it: they ruined X&Y's popularity right from the beginning by choosing Speed Of Sound as their first single. Why Clocks part 2 when they could have started off with Square One? And then on top of that they released Fix You next, which was supposed to be their grand finale, or at least saved for the holidays. The truth is it's too late to promote X&Y, and besides, Coldplay are not much of a singles band anyway, their an albums band as somebody in the THP thread said (forgot who). I would rather have WS as the single too, but if it isn't, then so what? The fact that Amsterdam wasn't made a single doesn't change our opinion of the son does it? If anything, we love the song even more because it isn't.

Anyway, I'm not trying to argue over this. So I'll stop.

Why can't you just wait and see what they end up releasing? You guys seem to be stressing out on what the next single is going to be! Calm down!

I'll be so happy if "White Shadows" really is the next single.

I think both White Shadows and the Hardest Part will be good. Maybe White Shadows wil be North America and South America sort of like what U2 did with All Because of You (N.A. single) and Sometime You Can't Make It On Your Own ( European)

Interesting that in the e-mail from Coldplay there was no mention of the next single.

SYCMIOYO was a single is North America too, wasn't it? There was a video....

Yes but they switched them: ABOY was first single in America while SYCMIOYO was in Europe, then City of blinding lights for both, and finally ABOY in Europe and SYCMIOYO in America ;)

I will never understand that

btw..I like the possible fact that White Shadows will be next.

It better be. I just finally realized how great of a song this is. It must be my favorite on X&Y now... that and the fact that it's 5:28 seconds long... which is my birthday! yay

Really hope it is White Shadows and not Hardest Part...it just doesn't fit in with previous singles and their positions on albums. 'MON THE SHADOWS!!! :D

i just really hope they make an official announcement soon! it's driving me nuts! the single SHOULD be coming out soon, ya know. the last one was in Dec. and April (rumored THP release) is WAY too long after that! I'm thinking early March! But just as long as it's White Shadows...I don't care when it is :)

Dave

it is possible that south america will get white shadows as the 4th single only.

examples:

- While the rest of the world got The Scientist as the 2nd single from A Rush of Blood to the Head, the US got Clocks.

- God Put A Smile Upon Your Face was released everywhere but the UK.

- Like someone mentioned earlier, U2 had released All Because of You in the US while Something You Cant Make it on Your Own everywhere else. To further confuse everyone, they then released SYCMIOYO to the US and City of Blinding Lights to everyone else. They then release City of Blinding Lights to the US and All Because of You to the rest of the world....and then after that, theres the current single Origin of the Species...and its in the US, not sure if its anywhere else. :-D

you're 1st example is a little bit flawwed, as Clocks was released in the UK, as well. Also, I BELIEVE (not 100% positive) that In My Place was released later in the US than in the UK...so they just skipped over The Scientist and went right to Clocks (to coincide with the rest of the world). Also, I do believe that The Scientist was later released in the US, but after Clocks. However, no song is ever truely "released" in the US, they have no physical formats over there. A single is just a song, nothing really physical. CD singles ARE released (Clocks was) but it's rare for an artist to do that. It's really all about radio airplay and what song the artist wants to be on the radio at the time.

If they make White Shadows an American only single (hopefully not just South American), I'd be happy! Just as long as there's some sorta CD single released for it!

Dave

Yessss I hope this is true! The Hardest Part would be a good choice as well, as long as bloody Swallowed In The Sea ain't released as a single I'm well happy

I really hope it is White Shadows and not The Hardest Part. The Hardest Part is not a bad song but i prefer White Shadows.'MON THE SHADOWS!!! :D
