January 19, 201115 yr The show was so good! The band was really tight and it was so awesome to get so close! I have to still look through my pictures and edit them, so I won't be posting photos until tomorrow, but... I did get a setlist! Also after the broadcast ended they did a Sam Cooke cover with the opening band, and then the last song was Stars and Sons.
January 19, 201115 yr that show was awesome... when my adobe flash plug in wasn't crashing :wtf: anyway, you went to the show?? that's awesome!
January 20, 201115 yr Glad the show was awesome! Full webcast is now up BTW. Good for folks like me who missed it: http://www.youtube.com/bowerypresents
January 22, 201115 yr really really love your pictures actually. You were so close and they actually came out pretty well. very nice! also you were so close which is awesome in itself. ALSO yes. Lisa is beautiful. <3
February 28, 201115 yr I live in the small beach town of Ventura that features a small theater of 1000-person capacity which occasionally hosts concerts. The catch? The artists they book usually hit their prime in 1975 or earlier, or are merely otherwise local bands trying to gain exposure. Long story short, I almost never have a reason to go. Imagine my surprise just now when I found out they booked BSS in April. It's three days after their Coachella set, of course, but even though I'm going to Coachella, this makes me feel a lot better since I know that the day they're playing the festival will be full of the most schedule conflicts for me.
June 30, 201114 yr Gonna go ahead and bump this thread with a few links. :) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Di2X3KMDmoQ]YouTube - Broken Social Scene It's Cruel Outside[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gelq3KxDaz0]YouTube - Broken Social Scene 'This House is On Fire' Hollywood Forever 4.18.2011[/ame] I smell a new Kevin Drew solo album.
September 4, 201114 yr Saw BSS last night at FYF Fest. Kevin made repeated remarks throughout the show about how this would be their last show in California "for a very very long time". It was unclear whether he was merely referring to the fact that their tour is ending, or if they're hinting at an extended hiatus so they can work on all their various side projects. Hmm... Also, talk about a bonkers random setlist for a festival: Cause = Time Late Nineties Bedroom Rock for the Missionaries Shampoo Suicide Texico Bitches 7/4 Shoreline Water in Hell Meet Me in the Basement The World at Large It's All Gonna Break I actually laughed when all the impatient DFA 1979 fans thought BSS's set was over and then they launched into 10 minutes of "It's All Gonna Break".
September 4, 201114 yr KD's been talking like that a lot lately, it's starting to trouble me... I think it just means the side projects. KD and BC are gonna put out more solo work; Stars is busy, Torq is busy with Memphis and DCS, Amy is busy solo; Metric is busy, Emily might start working on more solo material; Feist is obviously busy; Lisa Lobsinger is doing backup vocals and touring for some band whose name eludes me; Charles Spearin and Ohad Benchetrit are busy with Do Make Say Think (praying that they've got something outstanding to put out by the end of the year); Jason Collett is probably just as busy; Andrew Whiteman and his wife are busy with their new experimental folk outfit AroarA, in addition to Apostle Of Hustle. They're extremely busy people, and with accounting in breaks I think that BSS will indeed be gone for a while. Oh MAN! I didn't see your setlist for the festival, you got Fuzz! That must have been extra special. :awesome:
