February 7, 200620 yr today i was walking past a supermarket, at the door was a dog, aparently abandoned or forgotten... one lady was saying he was there for about 2 hours already... 3 or 4 persons were around the dog worried... It's the first time i see a situation like this in Switzerland in 9 years... in my home town in Portugal you find abandoned dogs everywhere... nobody even notice them anymore, and i find this very sad...
February 7, 200620 yr Well.......I can't tell you how I think about that.....because I don't really care about dogs.........but I can say that in Bulgaria there were so many abandoned dogs.........
February 7, 200620 yr that is sad... :( but here there really aren't any abondoned dogs, only cats cats cats EVERYWHERE!!!!
February 7, 200620 yr here they are a lot of abandonated dogs.. it's sad.... you can find them everywhere there's people that gives them food and care about them.. but no of all of them
February 7, 200620 yr that's so weird to hear... i wasn't really aware of that, i can't imagine dogs with no owners just wandering around. I just feel sorry for all the cats here, they're always run over by cars, i almost run over a cat once... it was scary
February 7, 200620 yr the cat's aren't abondand, they're just here like there are birds in the skies! if i'm not mistaken, they took care of the cat problem once some years back, but then the mice population grew so they had to bring more cats...there are soooo many cats here
February 7, 200620 yr cats can be nice... like when i was in poland i finally met some nice cats cause i bet the ppl there treat'em nicely. There was cute little cat!!! But here there are so many cats that no one gives a shit about them and kids aren't very nice to them.... i once saw a kid throwing stones at a cat  ! and i already mentioned the ppl running over them all the time problem.
February 7, 200620 yr actually i didn't have any pets nver...but this situation is very sad...everywhere in Russsia there are thousands of abandoned dogs...but as i said maybe i can't feel the same as somebody who has/had pet,for them it's more painful i'm sure
February 7, 200620 yr Author i don't like dogs either, but i just hate the fact that in Portugal people get or buy dogs for some reason i don't even care and then they get tired of them or they leave on holidays and simply abandon dogs on the street...
February 7, 200620 yr Ohhh no, Miguel! That is sad :( why would you post that!? I don't normally like dogs, but that was sad! anyway..on a lighter note...i had this cat named Jicama (pronounced heecahmah) and it ran away in september...then CAME BACK last night! it was a miracle..he just showed up and started meowing at my window like old times! Like it had never been gone! and i was so happy that it came back to me all fat! :D :D :D :D
February 7, 200620 yr Author my best friend's cat ran away too once... i always made fun of her saying that the cat was afraid of her, otherwise wouldn't run away... :D same thing happened with you!!?? :P
February 7, 200620 yr No no..it ran away during hurricane Rita! really :stunned: then did not come back till now..he was treated like a KING! it just got scared..is all
March 21, 200620 yr Author last sunday we were driving on the highway and suddently we notice a huge sad dog on the side of the road... I think that's sad...
March 21, 200620 yr This thread is making me really sad. I love animals. They don't deserve to be left all alone to wander the streets.
March 21, 200620 yr When I was maybe 10 years old we went to Greece and there was just cats and cats everywhere! Most of them lived near the restaurants and walked around between the tables looking for food. They knew that they weren't welcome though, and as soon as the waiter's feet were is sight they ran away as fast as they could followed by the waiters kicking feet and angry voice. Many of the guests at the restaursnts gave the cats food anyway though, including us ;) . We found this homeless dog there too. She lived near our hotel and we met her one day when we were out on a walk. She was really skinny and had louses too, poor dog :( . We named her Lusi because "lus" in swedish means "louse" haha :P and she followed us closely everywhere we went. She even tried to come with us in to the hotel when we got back. Everytime I would see a cat, dog or even a donkey I begged and begged my mum and dad to bring it home whit us, but of course they said no everytime :P Some people buy a little kitten in the summer when they move out to their summer cottages because they think kittens are so cute and they like cats so why not buy a kitten? Then when the summer is over and the people move back to the city they just leave the poor cat all alone by the summer cottage with some food on a plate and a bowl of water. do they really think that the cat will survive very long with that?! stupid people......... oh my..I wrote a lot haha

March 22, 200620 yr This is serious problems here in Italy, every here in the summer there are thousands dogs abandoned cause people go on holiday, don't know where to leave them and they cannot take them...a law has also been made against these people, so you're found abandoning any kind of animal you can go to jail (can't remember now for how long). But I think the only solution is to make them think a lot before buying a puppet, cause it's like a child, you cannot leave it alone as you want.
March 22, 200620 yr It's really awful when people just leave thier dogs and cats (or even horses), if you buy an animal it comes a big amount of responsibility with it and if you're not ready for that then dont buy an animal!
