LONDON CALLING - THE CLASH

London calling to the faraway towns

Now that war is declared-and battle come down

London calling to the underworld

Come out of the cupboard, all you boys and girls

London calling, now don't look at us

All that phoney Beatlemania has bitten the dust

London calling, see we ain't got no swing

'Cept for the ring of that truncheon thing

CHORUS

The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in

Engines stop running and the wheat is growing thin

A nuclear error, but I have no fear

London is drowning-and I live by the river

London calling to the imitation zone

Forget it, brother, an' go it alone

London calling upon the zombies of death

Quit holding out-and draw another breath

London calling-and I don't wanna shout

But when we were talking-I saw you nodding out

London calling, see we ain't got no highs

Except for that one with the yellowy eyes

CHORUS

Now get this

London calling, yeah, I was there, too

An' you know what they said? Well, some of it was true!

London calling at the top of the dial

After all this, won't you give me a smile?

I never felt so much a' like

Take On Me a-ha

talking away i don't know what what to say -

i'll say it anyway today's another day to find you shying away

i'll be coming for your love take on me, take me on

i'll be gone in a day so needless to say i'm odds

and ends and you see me stumbling away slowly learning that life is ok.

say after me it's no better to be safe than sorry take on me,

take me on i'll be gone in a day oh the things that you say is it life

or just to play my worries away all the things i've got to remember shying

away i'll be coming for you anyway take on me,

take me on i'll be gone in a day

1979- smashing pumpkins

shakedown 1979, cool kids never have the time

on a live wire right up off the street

you and i should meet

junebug skipping like a stone

with the headlights pointed at the dawn

we were sure we'd never see an end to it all

and i don't even care to shake these zipper blues

and we don't know

just where our bones will rest

to dust i guess

forgotten and absorbed into the earth below

double cross the vacant and the bored

they're not sure just what we have in the store

morphine city slippin dues down to see

that we don't even care as restless as we are

we feel the pull in the land of a thousand guilts

and poured cement, lamented and assured

to the lights and towns below

faster than the speed of sound

faster than we thought we'd go, beneath the sound of hope

justine never knew the rules,

hung down with the freaks and the ghouls

no apologies ever need be made, i know you better than you fake it

to see that we don't care to shake these zipper blues

and we don't know just where our bones will rest

to dust i guess

forgotten and absorbed into the earth below

the street heats the urgency of sound

as you can see there's no one around

Interference - Cain & Able

Naked men in the desert are feeding the peasants

And watch out for Cain he comes down like the rain

Ables not able to eat from the table cause hiss throat got caught when Cain was using the razor.

Cain is now a barber heavy into fashion

And the neolithic style is really all the rage.

Watch out for the bible cried the man inside the tower

But his mind was choked when the devil swung the rope.

Why can't you see

It's not what I really wanted.

Just you and me and what we believe.

The feeling was growing like the flowers only faster

When the flies took a trip on a ship to disaster.

By the time they came back the polotition had the answer

So the problem unsolved soon led to disaster

Somebody blamed someone said we were responsible

I couldn't take it said I broke the handle

They came down really fast said hey its all over

But I was only joking and the handles still broken.

Why can't you see

It's not what I really wanted.

Just you and me and what we believe.

goo goo dools - iris

And I'd give up forever to touch you

'Cause I know that you feel me somehow

You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be

And I don't want to go home right now

And all I can taste is this moment

And all I can breathe is your life

'Cause sooner or later it's over

I just don't want to miss you tonight

And I don't want the world to see me

'Cause I don't think that they'd understand

When everything's made to be broken

I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming

Or the moment of truth in your lies

When everything feels like the movies

Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive

And I don't want the world to see me

'Cause I don't think that they'd understand

When everything's made to be broken

I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me

'Cause I don't think that they'd understand

When everything's made to be broken

I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me

'Cause I don't think that they'd understand

When everything's made to be broken

I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am

"old brown shoe" by the beatles

I want a love that’s right but right is only half of what’s wrong.

I want a short haired girl who sometimes wears it twice as long.

Now I’m stepping out this old brown shoe, baby, I’m in love with you.

I’m so glad you came here, it won’t be the same now, I’m telling you.

You know you pick me up from where some try to drag me down

And when I see your smile replace every thoughtless frown.

Got me escaping from this zoo, baby, I’m in love with you.

I’m so glad you came here, it won’t be the same now when I’m with you.

If I grow up I’ll be a singer wearing rings on every finger.

Not worrying what they or you say I’ll live and love and maybe someday

Who knows, baby, you may comfort me.

I may appear to be imperfect, my love is something you can’t reject.

I’m changing faster than the weather if you and me should get together

Who knows, baby, you may comfort me.

That love of your, to miss that love is something I’d hate.

I’ll make an early start, I’m making sure that I’m not late.

For you sweet top lip I’m in the queue, baby, I’m in love with you.

I’m so glad you came here, it won’t be the same now when I’m with you.

I’m so glad you came here, it won’t be the same now when I’m with you.

"gulf winds" by joan baez

It's only when the high winds blow that I wish my hair was long

Sailing through the autumn leaves singing an ancient song

Or falling in love in the streets at night at the edge of a local square

It's only that I'm here tonight thinking I was there

There are high winds on the pier tonight, my soul departs from me

Striding like Thalia's ghost south on the murky sea

And into midnight's tapestry she fades, ragged and wild

Searching down her ancestry in the costume of a Persian child

And gulf winds bring me flying fish that shine in the crescent moon

Show me the horizon where the dawn will break anew

And cool me here on this lonely pier where the heron are flying low

Echo the songs my father knew in the towns of Mexico

When I was young my eyes were wise, my father was good to me

Instead of having a flock of sons he had two other girls and me

And if we had used our Spanish names, here's the way they'd run

Thalia, Margarita and Juanita, I'm the middle one.

The screen door kept the demons in as we moved from town to town

It's hard to be a princess in the States when your skin is brown

And mama smoothed my worried brow as I leaned on the kitchen door

Why do you carry the weight, she said, of the world and maybe more?

And gulf winds bring me flying fish that shine in the crescent moon

Show me the horizon where the dawn will break anew

And cool me here on this lonely pier where the heron are flying low

Echo the songs my father knew in the towns of Mexico

My grandfathers were ministers and it came on down the line

My father preached in his parents' church when he was ten years and nine

And mama dressed in parishoners' clothes and didn't believe in hell

Her daddy fought the DAR, if he'd lived I'd have known him well

They said go find a Sunday School, we must have tried them all

I never stole from the silver plate, my sisters had more gall

One preacher said sing out loud and clear, it's the only life you've got

And the next one said be good on earth, you've another life at the feet of God

And gulf winds bring me flying fish that shine in the crescent moon

Show me the horizon where the dawn will break anew

And cool me here on this lonely pier where the heron are flying low

Echo the songs my father knew in the towns of Mexico

My father turned down many a job just to give us something real

It's hard to be a scientist in the States when you've got ideals

And mama kept the budget book, she kept the garden, too

Bought fish from the man on Thursday, fed all of us and strangers, too

But time will pass and so, alas, will most of what we know

Though tonight my memory's eye is clear as the story's being told

And I'll play ball with the underdog and sit with the child who's wrong

Be still when the earth is silent and sing when my strength is gone

And gulf winds bring me flying fish that shine in the crescent moon

Show me the horizon where the dawn will break anew

And cool me here on this lonely pier where the heron are flying low

Echo the songs my father knew in the towns of Mexico

Now father's going to India sometime in the fall

They tried to stay together but you just can't do it all

I'll think about him if he goes, there's a little grey in his hair

Though not much because he's Mexican, they don't age, they just prepare

And if he goes to India I'll miss him most of all

He'll see me in the mudlarks' face, hear me in the beggar's call

And mama will stay home, I guess, and worry if she did wrong

And I'll say a prayer for both of them and sing them both my song

And gulf winds bring me flying fish that shine in the crescent moon

Show me the horizon where the dawn will break anew

And cool me here on this lonely pier where the heron are flying low

Echo the songs my father knew in the towns of Mexico

"to bobby" by joan baez

I'll put flowers at your feet and I will sing to you so sweet

And hope my words will carry home to your heart

You left us marching on the road and said how heavy was the load

The years were young, the struggle barely had its start

Do you hear the voices in the night, Bobby?

They're crying for you

See the children in the morning light, Bobby

They're dying

No one could say it like you said it, we'd only try and just forget it

You stood alone upon the mountain till it was sinking

And in a frenzy we tried to reach you

With looks and letters we would beseech you

Never knowing what, where or how you were thinking

Do you hear the voices in the night, Bobby?

They're crying for you

See the children in the morning light, Bobby

They're dying

Perhaps the pictures in the Times could no longer be put in rhymes

When all the eyes of starving children are wide open

You cast aside the cursed crown and put your magic into a sound

That made me think your heart was aching or even broken

But if God hears my complaint He will forgive you

And so will I, with all respect, I'll just relive you

And likewise, you must understand these things we give you

Like these flowers at your door and scribbled notes about the war

We're only saying the time is short and there is work to do

And we're still marching in the streets with little victories and big defeats

But there is joy and there is hope and there's a place for you

And you have heard the voices in the night, Bobby

They're crying for you

See the children in the morning light, Bobby

They're dying

Train - Drops of Jupiter

Now that she's back in the atmosphere

With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey, hey

She acts like summer and walks like rain

Reminds me that there's time to change, hey, hey

Since the return from her stay on the moon

She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey

Tell me did you sail across the sun

Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded

And that heaven is overrated

Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star

One without a permanent scar

And did you miss me while you were looking at yourself out there

Now that she's back from that soul vacation

Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey

She checks out Mozart while she does tae-bo

Reminds me that there's time to grow, hey, hey

Now that she's back in the atmosphere

I'm afraid that she might think of me as plain ol' Jane

Told a story about a man who is too afraid to fly so he never did land

Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet

Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day

And head back to the Milky Way

And tell me, did Venus blow your mind

Was it everything you wanted to find

And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there

Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken

Your best friend always sticking up for you even when I know you're wrong

Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance five-hour phone conversation

The best soy latte that you ever had . . . and me

Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet

Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day

And head back toward the Milky Way

(Repeat 1st Chorus)

Beck - Girl

I saw her, yea I saw her

With a black tongue tied round the roses

A fist pounding on a vending machine

Toy diamond ring stuck on her finger

With a noose she could hang from the sun

And PUT it out with the dark sunglasses

Walking crooked down the beach

She spits in the sand

Where their bones are bleaching

And I know I'm gonna steal her eye

She doesn't even know it's wrong

And you know I'm gonna make her die

Take her where her soul belongs

Know I'm gonna steal her eye

Nothing that I wouldn't try

Hey, my sun-eyed girl

Hey, my sun-eyed girl

My sun-eyed girl

Hey, my sun-eyed girl

I saw her, yea I saw her

With her hands tied back

Her black suburban

Calling out from a landfilled life

Scrawling her name up on the ceiling

Throw a coin in the fountain of dust

White noise, her ears are ringing

Got a ticket for my midnight hanging

Throw a bullet from a freight train leaving

And I know I'm gonna steal her eye

She doesn't even know it's wrong

And you know I'm gonna make her die

Take her where her soul belongs

Know I'm gonna steal her eye

Nothing that I wouldn't try

Hey, my sun-eyed girl

Hey, my sun-eyed girl

My sun-eyed girl

Hey, my sun-eyed girl

Hey, my sun-eyed girl

Hey, my sun-eyed girl

My sun-eyed girl

Hey, my sun-eyed girl

Hey, my sun-eyed girl

Hey, my sun-eyed girl

My sun-eyed girl

Hey, my sun-eyed girl

Die Ärzte - Wie es geht

Ich schau Dich an,

und Du bist unbeschreiblich schön.

Ich könnte ewig hier sitzen,

und Dich einfach nur ansehen.

Doch plötzlich stehst Du auf,

und Du willst gehen.

Bitte, geh noch nicht.

Ich weiß, es ist schon spät.

Ich will Dir noch was sagen.

Ich weiß nur nicht wie es geht.

Bleib noch ein bisschen hier,

und schau mich nicht so an,

weil ich sonst ganz bestimmt,

überhaupt gar nichts sagen kann.

Ich weiß selber nicht, was los ist,

meine Knie werden weich.

Im Film sieht es so einfach aus.

Jetzt bin ich kreidebleich.

Ich weiß nicht, was ich sagen soll,

mein Gott, jetzt gehst Du gleich.

Bitte, geh noch nicht.

Bleib noch ein bisschen hier.

Ich muss Dir noch was sagen,

nur die Worte fehlen mir.

Bitte, geh noch nicht.

Ich weiß, es ist schon spät

Ich will Dir noch was sagen.

in meiner Phantasie.

Bleib noch ein bisschen hier.

Bitte, geh noch nicht.

Was ich versuche, Dir zu sagen, ist

Ich liebe Dich!

Ich weiß nicht, wie es geht,

wie es geht, wie es geht

* Muse - Falling Down *

I'm falling down

And 15 thousand people scream

They were all begging for your dream

I'm falling down

Five thousand houses burning down, yeah

No one is gonna save this town

Too late, I already found what I was looking for

You know it wasn't here

No, it wasn't here

I was calling your name

But you would never hear me sing

You wouldn't let me begin

So I'm crawling away

'Cause you broke my heart in two, yeah

No I will not forget you

Too late, I already found what I was looking for

You know it wasn't you

No, it wasn't you, no

Falling away

You don't ever see me free,

No, I could not forget you

Falling down

Five thousand houses burning down, yeah

No one is gonna save this town, yeah

Too late, I already found what I was looking for

You know it wasn't you

No, it wasn’t you, no

Falling down

Now my world is upside-down, yeah

I'm heading straight for the clouds

Riki tiki tavi mongoose is gone

Won't be coming around for to kill your snakes no more my love

Riki tiki tavi mongoose is gone

Everybody who read the Jungle Book knows that Riki tiki tavi's a

mongoose who kills snakes

Well when I was a young man I was led to believe there were organisations

to kill my snakes for me

ie the church ie the government ie the school

but when I got a little older I learned I had to kill them myself

I said Riki tiki tavi mongoose is gone

Riki tiki tavi mongoose is gone

Won't be coming around for to kill your snakes no more my love

Riki tiki tavi mongoose is gone

People walk around they don't know what they're doing

They bin lost so long they don't know what they've been looking for

Well, I know what I'm a looking for but I just can't find it

I guess I gotta look inside of myself some more

oh oh oh inside of myself some more

oh oh oh inside of myself some more

Riki tiki tavi mongoose is gone

"draft dodger rag" by phil ochs

Oh, I'm just a typical American boy from a typical American town

I believe in God and Senator Dodd and a-keepin' old Castro down

And when it came my time to serve I knew "better dead than red"

But when I got to my old draft board, buddy, this is what I said:

Sarge, I'm only eighteen, I got a ruptured spleen

And I always carry a purse

I got eyes like a bat, and my feet are flat, and my asthma's getting worse

Yes, think of my career, my sweetheart dear, and my poor old invalid aunt

Besides, I ain't no fool, I'm a-goin' to school

And I'm working in a DEE-fense plant

I've got a dislocated disc and a wracked up back

I'm allergic to flowers and bugs

And when the bombshell hits, I get epileptic fits

And I'm addicted to a thousand drugs

I got the weakness woes, I can't touch my toes

I can hardly reach my knees

And if the enemy came close to me

I'd probably start to sneeze

I'm only eighteen, I got a ruptured spleen

And I always carry a purse

I got eyes like a bat, and my feet are flat, and my asthma's getting worse

Yes, think of my career, my sweetheart dear, and my poor old invalid aunt

Besides, I ain't no fool, I'm a-goin' to school

And I'm working in a DEE-fense plant

Ooh, I hate Chou En Lai, and I hope he dies,

Onething you gotta see

That someone's gotta go over there

And that someone isn't me

So I wish you well, Sarge, give 'em Hell!

Kill me a thousand or so

And if you ever get a war without blood and gore

I'll be the first to go

Yes, I'm only eighteen, I got a ruptured spleen

And I always carry a purse

I got eyes like a bat, and my feet are flat, and my asthma's getting worse

Yes, think of my career, my sweetheart dear, and my poor old invalid aunt

Besides, I ain't no fool, I'm a-goin' to school

And I'm working in a DEE-fense plant

"i ain't marching anymore" by phil ochs

Oh I marched to the battle of New Orleans

At the end of the early British war

The young land started growing

The young blood started flowing

But I ain't marchin' anymore

For I've killed my share of Indians

In a thousand different fights

I was there at the Little Big Horn

I heard many men lying I saw many more dying

But I ain't marchin' anymore

It's always the old to lead us to the war

It's always the young to fall

Now look at all we've won with the saber and the gun

Tell me is it worth it all

For I stole California from the Mexican land

Fought in the bloody Civil War

Yes I even killed my brothers

And so many others But I ain't marchin' anymore

For I marched to the battles of the German trench

In a war that was bound to end all wars

Oh I must have killed a million men

And now they want me back again

But I ain't marchin' anymore

It's always the old to lead us to the war

It's always the young to fall

Now look at all we've won with the saber and the gun

Tell me is it worth it all

For I flew the final mission in the Japanese sky

Set off the mighty mushroom roar

When I saw the cities burning I knew that I was learning

That I ain't marchin' anymore

Now the labor leader's screamin'

when they close the missile plants,

United Fruit screams at the Cuban shore,

Call it "Peace" or call it "Treason,"

Call it "Love" or call it "Reason,"

But I ain't marchin' any more,

No I ain't marchin' any more

Pilate's Alright ~ Such a pretty song....

Tonight I lack the strength to even move,

When you walked, now watch me die

For I know this is harder for you,

For love has let you down

The road ahead is lined with broken dreams,

So walk, walk on by

And I failed to give you everything you need,

For the fears, behind your eyes

When I can’t feel you,

I’m not alright, I’m not alright,

When I can’t heal you,

I’m not alright, I’m not alright

When I can’t feel you,

I’m not alright, I’m not alright,

When I can’t heal you,

I’m not alright, I’m not alright

Jesus as you throw me on the rocks,

For love I left your side

For I believed in love and beauty’s whiles,

Where heaven shone from her eyes

Tell me that it wasn’t all for naught,

It’s such a waste now, It’s such a waste now c’mon

I know your scared but baby don’t you hide,

It’s such a waste,

You’ll stand alone now, you’ll make it somehow

"Judge me? Fuck you!

Stop playing God!"

"save the whales!" by country joe mcdonald

When my grandpa was a boy, he went down to the general store.

Saw a picture book of whales, shootin' his spout and flashin' his tail.

Then he go, a sailor's dream, cruisin' around on the salty sea.

Joinin' up with a fishin' crew go out and get him a whale or two.

Tell me what kind of men are these that sail upon the salty seas.

Lovin' and drinkin' in the afternoon, swabbin' the deck and sharpnin' harpoons.

Hooray, up she rises. Hooray, up she rises. Hooray, up she rises.

So early in the morning.

Lots of whales in the deep blue sea, we kill them for the industry.

Drag 'em alongside and chop 'em in two, melt them down and sail it to you.

There hardly is a sailor alive who can keep a tear from his eye.

Cause he remembers the good old days when there were no whales to save.

Now we can thank the industry for scouring the deep, blue sea.

Lookin' for ivory and perfume, and oil to light your licing room.

Hooray, up she rises. Hooray, up she rises. Hooray, up she rises.

So early in the morning.

Shanghi by the light of the moon, put out from Boston in the middle of June.

Thirty-six months out at sea is nothing but death and misery.

Set off on a three year cruise, Union ship and a Union crew.

And after six months he began to see, whalin' not what it used to be.

A modern ship and a modern crew, occalascopes and explodin' harpoons.

A mechanical boat made of steel,

A floatin' machine just to kill all the whales.

Hooray, up she rises. Hooray, up she rises. Hooray, up she rises.

So early in the mornin'.

"do re mi" by woody guthrie

Lots of folks back East they say, leaving home every day

Beating the hot old dusty way to the California line

Cross the desert sands they roll, getting out of the old dust bowl

Think they're going to a sugar bowl, but here's what they find

Now police at the port of entry say,

"you're number fourteen thousand for today

Oh, if you ain't got the do re mi, folks, you ain't got the do re mi

Why you better get back to beautiful Texas, Kansas, Georgia, Tennessee

California is a garden of Eden, a paradise to live in or see

But believe it or not, you won't find it so hot

If you ain't got the do re mi

You want to buy a house or a farm, that can't do nobody harm

Or take your vacation by the mountain or sea

Don't swap your old cow for a car, you'd better stay right where you are

Better take this little tip from me:

Cause I look through the want ads every day

And the headlines in the papers always say

Oh, if you ain't got the do re mi, folks, you ain't got the do re mi

Why you better get back to beautiful Texas, Kansas, Georgia, Tennessee

California is a garden of Eden, a paradise to live in or see

But believe it or not, you won't find it so hot

If you ain't got the do re mi

"hello birmingham" by ani difranco

hold me down

i am floating away

into the overcast skies

over my home town

on election day

what is it about birmingham?

what is it about buffalo?

did the hate filled want to build bunkers

in your beautiful red earth

they want to build them in our shiny white snow

and now i've drawn closed the curtains

in this little booth

where the truth has no place to stand

and i am feeling oh so powerless

in this stupid booth

with this useless little lever in my hand

and outside

my city is bracing

for the next killing thing

standing by the bridge

and praying for the next doctor martin luther king

it was just one shot

through the kitchen window

just one or two miles from here

if you fly like a crow

a bullet came to visit a doctor

in his one safe place

a bullet ensuring the right to life

whizzed past his kid and his wife

and knocked his glasses right off of his face

and the blood poured off the pulpit

yeah the blood poured down the picket lines

and the hatred was immediate, yeah

and the vengence was divine

so they went and stuffed god down the barrel of a gun

and after him they stuffed his only son

hello birmingham; it's buffalo

i heard you had some trouble down there again

just calling to let to know

that somebody understands

i was once escorted

through the doors

of a clinic

by a man

in a bulletproof vest

and no bombs

went off that day

so i am still here to say

birmingham

i'm wishing you all of my best

oh birmingham

i'm wishing you all of my best

oh birmingham

i'm wishing you all of my best

on this election day

"back back back" by ani difranco

back back back in the back of your mind

are you learning an angry language

tell me boy boy boy are you tending to your joy

or are you just letting it vanquish

back back back in the dark of your mind

where the eyes of your demons are gleaming

are you mad mad mad

about the life you never had

even when you are dreaming

who are these old old old people

in these nursing homes

scowling away at nothing

like big rag dolls just cursing at the walls

and pulling out all of their stuffing

ever day is a door leading back to the core

yes, old age will distill you

and if you're this this this full of bitterness now

some day it will just fill you

when you sit right down in the middle of yourself

you're gonna wanna have a comfortable chair

so renovate your soul before you get too old

cuz you're gonna be housebound there

when you're old you fold up like an envelope

and you mail yourself right inside

and there's nowhere to go

except out real slow

are you ready, boy, for that ride?

your arrogance is gaining on you

and so is eternity

you better practice happiness

you better practice humility

you took the air, you took the time

you were fed and you were free

now you'd better put some beauty back

while you got the energy

you'd better put some beauty back, boy

while you got the energy

Hard To Explain by The Strokes

Was an honest man

Asked me for the phone

Tried to take control

Oh, I don't see it that way

I don't see it that way

Oh, we shared some ideas

All obsessed with fame

Says we're all the same

Oh, I don't see it that way

I don't see it that way

Raised in Carolina

"I'm not like that"

Trying to remind her

When we go back

I missed the last bus, I'll take the next train

I try but you see, it's hard to explain

I say the right things, but act the wrong way

I like it right here, but I cannot stay

I watch the TV; forget what I'm told

Well, I am too young, and they are too old

The joke is on you, this place is a zoo

"You're right it's true"

Says he can't decide

I shake my head to say

Everything's just great

Oh, I just can't remember

I just can't remember

Raised in Carolina, she says:

" I'm not like that"

Trying to remind her

When we go back

I say the right things but act the wrong way

I like it right here but I cannot stay

I watch the TV; forget what I'm told

Well, I am too young, and they are too old

Oh, man, can't you see I'm nervous, so please

Pretend to be nice, so I can be mean

I miss the last bus, we take the next train

I try but you see, it's hard to explain

"find the river" by r.e.m.

Hey now, little speedyhead,

the read on the speedmeter says

you have to go to task in the city

where people drown and people serve.

Don't be shy. Your just deserve

is only just light years to go.

Me, my thoughts are flower strewn

ocean storm, bayberry moon.

I have got to leave to find my way.

Watch the road and memorize

this life that pass before my eyes.

Nothing is going my way.

The ocean is the river's goal,

a need to leave the water knows

We're closer now than light years to go.

I have got to find the river,

bergamot and vetiver

run through my head and fall away.

Leave the road and memorize

this life that pass before my eyes.

Nothing is going my way.

There's no one left to take the lead,

but I tell you and you can see

we're closer now than light years to go.

Pick up here and chase the ride.

The river empties to the tide.

Fall into the ocean.

The river to the ocean goes,

a fortune for the undertow.

None of this is going my way.

There is nothing left to throw

of Ginger, lemon, indigo,

coriander stem and rose of hay.

Strength and courage overrides

the privileged and weary eyes

of river poet search naivete.

Pick up here and chase the ride.

The river empties to the tide.

All of this is coming your way
