I really like The Hardest Part, it's not an usual commercial song (in my opinion)

When you first listened to X&Y, you could easily tell which songs were designed to be the hit singles: Fix You, Talk, and Speed of Sound. Hardest Part is a good song, but it doesn't give off that impression. Not to mention the fact that if many of us diehards don't think it should be a single, then how do you think the casual fans who make up these charts will react to the song? It probably won't do very good, quite honestly. White Shadows or Swallowed in the Sea would have been the better gamble.

noo.. i wish it wasnt going to be. i was leaning towards white shadows.. but now kinda want it to be twisted logic. it doesnt seem like it would be a good single song, but, uhm i LOVE that song :)

The hardest part is a good choise beacuse it is very melodic song...but I wanted that will be swallowed in the sea to be the next single because this song is my favorite from x&y.... :rolleyes: :o :idea2: :kiss: :blush: :snore:

i think i would have preferred any other track on X&Y .. its not that i don't like it, just that every other song is better ;)

I would like Swallowed In The Sea to be it, that or White Shadows...but I think The Hardest Part will do good as a single.

It's not bad, I'm glad they picked a slower song. But I'm hoping there last single will be Twisted Logic. :D It seem's like the perfect single to end with, and the video for it will be awesome... if it will be a single. The Hardest Part seem's good but it woudn't have been my pick. :/

Don't get me wrong, "The Hardest Part" is a good song, but it's not single-worthy. Singles are supposed to be the best of the best. And as we see on this thread, there are many songs that many of us diehard fans consider much better (i.e. White Shadows, Low, A Message).

 

A previous poster said it best--if us Coldplay uber-fans aren't infatuated with "The Hardest Part" how will the average radio listener respond to it? My guess would be...not very well.

Of course, I am psyched to hear the b-sides off the next single. I'm hoping they'll do a studio version of "Ladder to the Sun".

Oh I wish they would do Twisted Logic...Its so different and heavy it would really turn heads!! :) :D I don't mind White Shadows either as a single ;)

Debs said that they first have chosen for What If, but they had it changed into The Hardest Part... :/

i suppose they couldn't realease a 2nd slower song after fix you, tho what if would have been good. i wanted square one or low, they're preformance on the brits proves how good square one would have been.

The Best Song is "White Shadows" but it's near to TALK tempo maybe this is the reason to prefer The Hardest Part

I like it but i think it's a strange choice for a single...

I don't know the songs they play now during they concerts but when I saw them they didn't play The Hardest Part ! So that's partly why i think it's a strange choice.

But I'm happy with this choice, I love this song !!

I think the point is that Coldplay likes variety in their singles. The Hardest Part is a very brave and wise decision as a fourth single. I mean White Shadows, Swallowed in the Sea, What If, Square One, etc are all great songs, but The Hardest Part is pretty unique in the album. I love it :-D.

Can´t wait to watch The hardest part video, yet I don´t even know who´s the woman that will be in it... :huh:

Twisted Logic... if that was the next single, I might skeet my pants.
