learning languages

there's definitely not so many non-Finnish people who speak it... good when going abroad, because no one understands what you're talking about  Have you ever heard anyone speaking Finnish, Nic?

actually ... i don't think so ... perhaps on the news once but i don't think i realized that it was Finnish :P

Hearing Finnish might not be so cool... Finnish is spoken on a very monotone voice... that annoys me sometimes...

but u still think its a beautiful language ... in what way then ?

the words are very beautiful, especially in old fashioned poetic language... :P

yeah well ... same with Dutch, i don't really like the language now ... especially my dialect ... but i like the old fashioned poetic words too :)

Young people in Finland speak terribly nowadays... they're spoiling the language and it makes me angry...

Finnish is a beautiful language :)

And Nic, ask Ella one day! ;) I'm sure she will speak to you:D

I want to learn french, italian, german and dutch... i think i can learn french and italian no prob... german is waaaaay too hard, i tried it, but maybe ill try again some day, and dutch i think i cant pronouce half of the words!!

:laugh4:

And nic... u already know 2 some things in portuguese!!! :)

I dropped french at school in year 9, so I didn't do a french gcse (nor german gcse). I can speak a little Cornish :P, but mainly I speak english, the business language of the world :)

i'm gonna apply for university soon and i have to take two language courses. i never liked learning languages at school and i have no idea which one to take. i'm gonna take english as my first language course, because it's the only foreign language i have learnt that i can use actually, plus i'm gonna spend three months in england before i go to uni.

but i have no idea about the other language. i can take french, spanish, italian, russian or japanese. i've been learning french and spanish at school, but i never understood its grammar.

so can anyone speak russian or japanese? is it very hard to learn? because i think i'd have a problem with any latin language.

i just have to take those courses, i won't actually need them for my studies.

which languages can you speak and which one would you like to learn?

i know turkish, english and a bit german and a very very very little japanese.and japanese is the hardest one because it is totally a different language (by means of characters).but the grammer is very simple:only past and present tense :) but they use about 2000 kanjis(which is characters inspired from chinese) and about 100 other their own characters. i heard that japanese children are able to learn all japanese characters in approximately 9 years :S but still japanese is funny to learn :) that site is useful btw...
