ALL EYES ON HER

A gushing Gwyneth Paltrow – who's defending her lifestyle Web site Goop.com – enjoys a moment in the spotlight Wednesday as she hosts a benefit for Bent On Learning, a non-profit that sets up yoga and meditation classes in public schools, at the Stephan Weiss Studio in New York City.

Gwyneth Paltrow showed off the positive effects of yoga in a figure-hugging Jasmine di Milo dress when she helped host the 2009 Bent on Learning benefit at the Stephan Weiss Studio in New York City. The affair, hosted by fashion label Alice + Olivia, raised funds to provide yoga and meditation classes in the city's public schools.

Her "GO" newsletters are always nice to look at, but somehow i don't see people that can actually afford those places seeking for a Gwenny newsletter for travel advise..... stupid welthy people :inquisitive:

The next one i'm looking forward though... recipes are nice :nice:

UGH! That dress looks like it's from the mid-90's! One-shoulder, weird seams, metallic fabric. C'mon, girl!

That little jacket is to die for, though.

Ja! I liked the dress and hated the jacket :P

I visit a lot of sites that give her a lot of shit about her GOOP website. I don't really care either way. If she enjoys writing about her favorite over priced places to shop, eat, or visit than so be it, if it makes her happy. Gwyneth Paltrow is not likely to ever be on my list of people who are out to watch the world burn.

Gwyneth continues to defend GOOP

Gwyneth Paltrow is taking on critics of her lifestyle Web site, Goop.com, just days after The New York Times published an article questioning the site's relevance in light of a barrage of published swipes against its cardio-workout and pizza-recipe content. Also under attack: the site's perceived omniscient tone.

"I think the people who are criticizing it or criticizing the idea of it, don't really get it, because if they did, they would like it," Paltrow, 36, told PEOPLE Wednesday night at a New York City benefit she hosted for Bent On Learning, a non-profit organization which arranges yoga and meditation classes in the city's public schools.

Yet as The Times noted, "many critics find the enterprise fatuous and a bit puzzling." Typical is a query from Toronto's The Globe and Mail: "Why is it called Goop?" its writer asked. "Perhaps 'Any Old Load of Rubbish' and 'Learn From Me, Ungrateful Peasant' were both taken."

Paltrow said she believes some of the barbs simply stem from the fact that she's doing something new and different. "I think that people like people to stay in their 'box' – they like people to stay how they are comfortable seeing them."

The Shakespeare in Love Oscar winner told PEOPLE of Goop.com, "There's nothing incendiary about it. I find it really interesting because it's a harmless [news]letter that goes out each week."

With The New York Times asking "why is she suddenly on TV giving dieting and fitness tips, backing a gym, writing a cookbook and an online newsletter full of shopping advice, kabbalistic musings and discussion of the Master Cleanse?," Paltrow says she decided to launch the Web site, which carries the tagline, "Nourish The Inner Aspect," "because I felt like I had a lot of really useful information that I was privileged enough to get, because I have this amazing, super, fortunate life."

In addition, she said, "My friends call me all the time to say, 'Where should I go?' or 'What should I do?' And I thought, you know maybe some other people would be interested in it as well, so I started it, and it's doing great."

Hello!

I think she has many good ideas and I'm sure that she has a kind of team behind her and she discusses things which she writes down, but yes there are many not really clear or sometimes wrong things which she promote.I never tried the methods/recipes which are on her website but if I read them with my professional eye I could correct almost all the facts/ideas which she tells.I'm sure that she believes in them - and she thinks they work - that's why she wants to share it with others. But there are things which are not really explained so if someone follows these little parts of the whole they can be harmful.I'm sure she has more knowledge about these things, but not enough, and most of the people have even less.So you'd better look up her advices before use them, especially if you're a bit sceptic about them.

But her fashion tips are cool!I think she'd better write more about fashion and less about nutrition.I could correct some things in them too but her entire style is brilliant.

(I study dietetics at college at the moment)

Bye

Gwyneth responds to critics

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. -- Gwyneth Paltrow is responding to critics who are attacking her lifestyle Web site, Goop.com.

The New York Times published an article earlier this week that questioned the site's relevance and asked, "why is she suddenly on TV giving dieting and fitness tips, backing a gym, writing a cookbook and an online newsletter full of shopping advice, kabbalistic musings and discussion of the Master Cleanse?"

"I think the people who are criticizing it or criticizing the idea of it, don't really get it, because if they did, they would like it," Gwyneth told People Wednesday night at a New York City benefit for Bent On Learning, a non-profit organization that provides yoga and meditation classes in NYC public schools.

The 36-year-old actress feels that her naysayers are simply afraid of something new.

"I think that people like people to stay in their 'box' - they like people to stay how they are comfortable seeing them," she continued.

"There's nothing incendiary about it. I find it really interesting because it's a harmless [news]letter that goes out each week," she told the mag.

The actresses said she was inspired to become a Web lifestyle author "because I felt like I had a lot of really useful information that I was privileged enough to get, because I have this amazing, super, fortunate life."

Adding, "My friends call me all the time to say, 'Where should I go?' or 'What should I do?' And I thought, you know maybe some other people would be interested in it as well, so I started it, and it's doing great."

You know despite disagreeing with some of the advice she gave about losing weight I think it's a nice idea! Yes it's up scale, but surely her recommending budget places to eat/drink/stay would be perceived as contrived and patronising, she can't win either way.

I admire her for sticking with it despite what the press say about it/her.

She's really getting a bashing in the press today. People are so vile for no reason at all.

People are stupid. If she wants to do something like Goop it's her choice and her right to do it.I don't get these people. It's not like she is telling everyone what is right or wrong. She is just giving advice and that's a nice thing to do.People are so scared of looking at their own lives that they prefer criticizing other people's lives, although they've done nothing wrong.I hope Gwyneth doesn't give up.

Agreed. She isn't harming anyone with what she is writing its really nice to see a different side of her. Everyone can have an opinion, but shouldn't bash it, she isn't cutting anyone down with her website.

Sometimes I really think this world is going crazy...so, they critizing her for this newsletter/website, which if you don't like it don't read it. She doesn't harm anybody, she just wants to do this and good on her.

On the other side you have people like Amy Winehouse who are just junkies and people and the media find them "cool".

I know who I would prefer as a role model to my children!!

Calling the Big Apple home for the time being, Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted out in the financial district of New York City on Thursday afternoon (February 26).

After stopping in to meet with three businessmen, the Academy Award-winning actress headed over to an awaiting SUV and jumped into the passenger seat before being driven away.

Meanwhile, Gwyneth, 36, spoke up last night at a New York City benefit she hosted called Bent On Learning, taking on a growing number of critics taking swipes at her lifestyle Web site, Goop.com.

“I think the people who are criticizing it or criticizing the idea of it, don’t really get it, because if they did, they would like it,” Paltrow told People magazine.

Gwyn adds, “I think that people like people to stay in their ‘box’ — they like people to stay how they are comfortable seeing them.”

I agree with most of it, she's very strong and enthusiastic(probably more than me).And don't forget that this site is not a scientific publication it is about how she lives.

But if people visits her website they might think that if I want to look/live/feel like GP or at least better than now I have to do this and this...and she should be more responsible for them. Everyone has the rights to do whatever they want but if you tell it to the others you have to be more responsible.

But I'm so young, I have no children, I don't know anything about life so maybe she knows it better or the truth is somewhere between you know "common" science and this other science.Which I believe so.
