:laugh3: Exactly!

poor john. it must really suck to have millions of people admiring your music and talents.

As you know I'm a huge fan of his work and he seems to be a very humble nice guy but even I find him strange.

I'm glad I've seen him solo once in my life though, I have a strange feeling we won't be hearing much from him again.

^ hard to tell. I know the guy is always writing or working on some musical project. I don't know if that has changed since he left the band. He used to do solo shows in small clubs on occasion, which I would have originally expected him to do again in his post Chili Pepper days. However, I live in Los Angeles and follow the local music scene very closely, and I haven't heard a thing out of John.

He's an amazing performer, some of the sounds that man gets out of a Stratocaster make me jelous, hes always seemed to be very uncomfortable about being a rock star though and over the last few years I've fallen in love with his solo music and would go as far as to say I prefer some of it to RHCPs work,as he's a prolific musician I can't understand why if he left the band to concentrate on his own music he hasn't actually made any unless he has other issues of some sort(which I hope he doesn't).

poor john. it must really suck to have millions of people admiring your music and talents.

ROFL!

Chad Smith on new Bombastic Meatbats, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chickenfoot

How are things with the Peppers?

"Things are good. Very good. We've cut a bunch of songs, so we're probably halfway through the record. I think we've tracked about 20 songs already, and there's a few more left to do. Then we'll whittle them down to make the best record. We always cut a lot of songs and see which ones rise and which ones fall - that's just how we like to work. But the new one won't be a double album like Stadium Arcadium, I can tell you that."

Do things feel any different with Josh Klinghoffer? How's he working out?

"Things are a bit different. You know, he's a different guy. But he's doing great. He's got a terrific sound, he's very musical, he's full of idea - we're enjoying working with him. Things are coming along pretty easily, so that's always a good sign. I've been playing with him for over a year now, so it's feeling very natural.

"What I'm really liking about Josh is how multi-talented he is. He plays guitar, bass, piano, drums, he sings…We've been very fortunate to have him come into our fold and help inspire us to try some new things."

Is his guitar sound radically different from John Frusciante's?

"I wouldn't say it's radically different. Josh is just Josh. He has his own thing, and that's why we love him. The sounds he comes up with are very pleasing to my ears, and I'm pretty sure they will be to everybody else once they hear him on this record."

If the Chili Peppers have dates booked for next summer, I would assume that you'd want the album out by then.

"That would be nice. We probably have three to four more weeks left for cutting basic tracks. Then we'll start doing overdubs - guitars, vocals, all the other things that go on a record. After that, there might be a couple of things to do in January. Or we could start mixing - and as you know, that can take some time. I'm just projecting and guessing, but I would say we'd like to try to deliver the album in March. We're definitely hoping to have it out by next summer. It's been a long time in coming."

On page four, Chad also says the following...

"The Peppers have festival dates booked for the summer of 2011 already , so I can't play in both bands next year."

Red Hot Chili Peppers to Sue Diana Vickers over My Wicked Heart

In a surprising turn of events, there is a pending musical plagiarism lawsuit that doesn’t involve Coldplay. This time, it’s Red Hot Chili Peppers who may be suing Diana Vickers, as her song “My Wicked Heart” is said to bear too much of a resemblance to the RHCP classic “Under the Bridge.” Are the songs too similar? You can check them out in the videos below.

The music in question comes in the chorus of Diana Vickers’ “My Wicked Heart,” a song that propelled the singer to stardom on the UK’s The X Factor, Simon Cowell’s talent search show.

To make matters worse, Vickers admitted that she had listened to “Under the Bridge” when writing her song, as this issue has come up previously. It has been suggested that it is the executives at Warner Bros. records who are most incensed about the issue.

Dunno who that girl is. The chorus of course is really similar but I sense that the boys are suing to get some cash... v.v

obvious rip off. i wonder what she was expecting? no one is going to notice that?

if im not confusing her with someone else, she the one that Gary Lightbody wrote "just say yes" to, but then changed his mind and took it back.

No, gL wrote Just say yes first for Gwen Stefani who rejects it, then it was handed to Nicole Scherzinger (Pussicat dolls) who recorded it, produced by Gary, but she sang it so badly that they took it back  (good for them!)

oh well..then she's the one that keeps covering it

EDIT: Diana took a detour from her debut to deliver a rendition of Snow Patrol song "Just Say Yes", telling the crowd that Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody originally gave the song to her but stole it back when he realised how good it was http://www.themusicfix.co.uk/content/gig-review/10377/diana-vickers.html

I knew I wasnt crazy

I guess GL suggested that song to a lot of people :)

Or she's just a delusional thinking gL wrote it to her  (just make a little google research too, apparently she covered the song on Radio Lounge..if you want to loose hear abilities, it's here

 but nothing on gL writing it for her... And on all ITVs I've seen, the boys always talked about the pussicat dolls story...

might be

yeah, i heard her covering it couple of times....:dead:

ALSO:

"The legal wrangle was pretty much inevitable. Diana confessed in a recent interview she'd been listening to Under The Bridge the day before writing the chorus for her own song. She said "Sod it," when asked about the similarities.

She added: "Yeah, that happened without even knowing.

"We wrote the song in an hour. We had the song and it didn't have the My Wicked Heart bit in it and then we put the vocal in and we were like, 'Why does it sound so familiar?'

"Then we realised it was because we were listening to Under The Bridge the day before. We were saying, 'Should we change it? Should we not? What should we do? Sod it, no, we're just gonna keep it, it works'."

Now it's all getting a bit messy. Legal action has been sanctioned by ANTHONY KIEDIS and his bandmates because she never asked permission. A source said: "She has done herself no favours by revealing she listened to the track while writing My Wicked Heart."

A Warner/Chappell spokesperson refused to comment. Diana will be re-enacting her new video on tonight's X Factor, dressing as a circus ringmaster and a clown.

She might be feeling like that again when the lawyers' bills come in. "

not nice, not nice.

on the other hand, "Dani california" was called a rip off of tom petty's song, Frusciante once said that Under the bridge was a rip off david bowie's song, so sueing her would be a weird action of rhcp side...

Dunno who that girl is. The chorus of course is really similar but I sense that the boys are suing to get some cash... v.v

I agree with this, sure it does sound similar but really who cares?, I'm not sure it's about money though, I think they key point is she didn't ask permission, but they did the same thing with the TV series Californication, seems Anthony Kiedis can't take flattery well which is surprising with his huge ego.

I think I'm also one of the few RHCP fans who don't actualy like Under the Bridge much at all.

^ I'm with you on Under The Bridge. Nice song but nothing special. Maybe I've just grown tired of it because it was played to death.

I don't know why but I've never liked it much, if were talking BSSM give me Breaking the Girl or Could have Lied as the better softer songs off the album any day.

I agree. I much prefer both those songs. I think the reason Under The Bridge became so huge is because it came at a transition time for music. It was safe enough to get radio airplay (and it got tons of it), but it also had an alternative feel to it. I remember really liking the song at the time, but as I look back, I don't see it as being that great.

I can't remember it much in 1992 as I was only 4:laugh3:, but I just don't think it's the great 'Anthem' it's made out to be, I admit I love their more guitar driven and funky songs but they've done some beautiful softer ones, Under the Bridge is shadowed by nearly all of their other work in my opinion, yet it's still the one people think of instantly (along with Californication which I do like alot) when you mention the band.

Since we're on the 'under the bridge' topic, dunno if you have seen the 'literal' music video made as a parody...It's.... :laugh3:

I nod at this guy so he won't mug me..... and the ending with the atomic bom and the slo mo pecs... *still cracks me up XD*

If Diana Vickers gets sued to the hilt it will be a big FU to all the useless talent that X-Factor produces - and to the production teams who manufacture them. On this basis, I hope she gets shafted in court!

Just putting this news in here too...

I guess Flea, Damon Albarn and Tony Allen are all 2/3rds of the way done with an album of their own. So the 3 of them have formed a little band along with some other African musicians.

I'm SUPER exited... Flea from the Peppers AND Damon together... dream come true :wacky::wacky:

Man, I am missing out on the book release and signing tomorrow. Those idiots scheduled it at noon on a Thursday, which prevents anyone with a job or life from attending. Also, you had to pick up wristbands today, and that essentially makes it a two day commitment. I still want to get the book though.
