April 13, 200620 yr Noel Gallagher: Radiohead more important than Oasis This quote from Britain's Maxim magazine was a bit of a surprise. Turns out Noel Gallagher thinks Radiohead are now more important than Oasis. The Oasis guitarist has conceded the albums released by Radiohead have surpassed anything his group have released. Noel also believes Coldplay could yet match the achievements of him and brother Liam. Noel Gallagher said: "I think I could have said, without any argument, till the year 2000 Oasis were the most important British band since The Beatles. But I think Radiohead have been important and I think Coldplay may yet turn out to be important but not so much now." The acclaimed songwriter, and self-confessed Beatles obsessive, insists the best band since the Fab Four are legendary punk group the Sex Pistols. He added to Britain’s Maxim magazine: "The most important band since The Beatles, really, was the Sex Pistols. Oasis are the most important band since the Pistols!" source: http://www.oa515.com/
April 14, 200620 yr Noel Gallagher: Radiohead More Important That Oasis - Coldplay To Follow My post editted.
April 14, 200620 yr Author lol http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29349 i found it interesting but not many people agreed with me O_o ... haha 1 reply i think Noel says some clever things sometimes (this was one of those), his brother should try to do that too
April 14, 200620 yr It's true.. I think Radiohead surpassed anything Oasis brought to the table and doubled it with their first album alone. Oasis does not compare to them. As for the "..and I think Coldplay may yet turn out to be important but not so much now" and "Noel also believes Coldplay could yet match the achievements of him and brother Liam." .. I don't get it. Coldplay has more relevance than Oasis right now, not to mention that they've achieved much more than Oasis in just a span of 3 albums. Makes no sense. Get off the booze, Noel!
April 14, 200620 yr and here's me doing searches like a good boy before creating a new thread  Interesting article nevertheless :)
April 14, 200620 yr interesting yes i read this on the main page...i knew he liked coldplay but hmm nice comment coming from him
April 14, 200620 yr Author actually Noel is right that Coldplay are not that important at the moment, they've made "only" 3 albums and they're famous for 5 years. but they have a big potential though and i believe in 5 years Coldplay will be the most important band. i think RH turned to be an important (*whispering* the most important) band in the middle of 90s so that comment that Oasis were the most important till '00 made me laugh
April 14, 200620 yr Hmm....Noel is not too modest  Oasis-the best after Beatles?....Don't know, don't know......

I guess that's up in the air and depends on the person, but I'm pretty sure they're way more important than Oasis are right now. DBTT did absolutely nothing for Oasis.. the way he goes on about Coldplay not having matched their achivements.. I think Oasis haven't even won a Grammy yet. Pfftt. So is 3 albums in 5 years considered bad?.. I've seen a lot worse.

Oasis' last album doesn't even needs to be discussed here... it was a fu**ed attempt to come back...in my opinion i think awards aren't that important or at least in my eyes. the fact that Radiohead have won 0 (!!!!!) Brits says a lot... yes, Coldplay are the most important band for the growing-up generation and i'm sure in 5-10 years we'll hear critics who will compare the brand new bands to Coldplay. i think all those new bands (like Keane, A.Monkeys or F.Ferdinand) have more Oasis and RH influences, they're like crops of 90s music. so i'd agree in that point with Noel and i think atm RH and Oasis more important. but i'm sure Coldplay will become maybe even bigger than Radiohead in some years. i really hope the quick success that they did reach won't stop them and they'll continue to progress ;)
April 14, 200620 yr Ian, jeeez. There's a search button here for a REASON.:dozey: :veryangry: lmfao, just kidding;)
April 14, 200620 yr Noel is the shit! He knows Oasis isn't as good as it used to be (although I did like 'Don't believe the truth'),he's aware of Radiohead's recent buzz around their new album....and the best part of the inteview, he realises Coldplay could match Oasis' fame in a couple of years and not now,I mean,I'm a fan,but there's no way Coldplay has already made their mark in music history...the best is yet to come (I hope)
April 14, 200620 yr Author nice try Ian but who knows what MAXIM magazine is , has to be a bit scary before reading the article :O some peeps are not 18 here :O me either 18 :O
