Well.....I lurked around a bit...through the old threads in the lounge here...I saw some of them...and sometimes i wonder if this place has been not as serious as it is now before....I mean there are more serious threads to think about now than before...at the beginning...is it just me who thinks so?

 

 

and......nowadays many people are complaining about spam....was it the same at the beginning?

Nah...ok...maybe not spam threads....that would be exaggerated....let's say threads thta were not that serious...which are not worth to be bumped for example...

Of course there are threads bumped that are not worth to be bumped......but I mean...I didn#t find any thread that was about general things...everybody can talk about....

i do ... i think the lounge is doing better nowadays than before ... less spam threads ... more topics to think about ... i don't post many opinions in those topics but i like to read them.

don't forget that years ago there wasn't many members here. so i bet those people were like a family. and they just discussed their lives or whatever.

i do ... i think the lounge is doing better nowadays than before ... less spam threads ... more topics to think about ... i don't post many opinions in those topics but i like to read them.

Maybe people make more political or philosophical threads (if that's what you mean) just because they're a bit bored.You know, it was fine just to chat about nothing in the begining of this board, but it's impossible to talk like that forever.People make smart threads just to make this board breath, to have anything to discuss, cause not everybody want to talk without topic.

 

But, in my opinion, there're still many "spam" threads where you can write whatever you want and noone will judge you :nice:

I'm sorry to be a broken record, yet again, but I agree with Nik, it just sucks here now.

 

The problem we have is that the threads are either way too spammy, or way too serious.

 

The threads either consist of a running 3 page dialogue between two people about how they are doing and how SWEET they think eachother are and how much they LOVE eachother, OR- we have serious-serious-serious-debate-thinking time, in which people are so frightened of giving their opinion because they are foolish enough to think others (Like me) will get personally offended by them.

 

It was casual before, there was a lighthearted feel to the forum. One thread could have it all, debates and opinions, humour, spam about our lives, it was like a Bollywood film.

I disagree, we may be able to find plenty of spam threads, but they were at least humorous.

 

There were plenty of debate threads back in the day, it was a very fine balance. I dont think it should be assumed that the early days of the forum were spam days until we got bored of it, seeing as there's far more spam now.

 

I dont consider the original 'spam' as spam, because we never referred to it as that because it didnt matter at the time, we didnt even think about it. It at least had a point, making us all laugh and bringing that casual vibe to the forum that is solely missed.

Hey I've never said that "spam" threads are bad for board.Just sometimes there're threads which are really pointless.I don't wanna offence anybody now, I know many people love this thread though, but honestly, What are you thinking right now or How was your day or What are you doing right now....People just leave their messages, nobody quotes anybody, nobody cares what did you post, no argue, no spam, nothing.

Sometimes its like people are just scared to open up, I just dont understand it. If someone gets offended, its their fault, not yours.

 

Anyway, Im not sure what you are talking about. I was just saying that the forum had plenty of discussion threads before, as well as spam, whereas you gave the impression that we started off spamming until we got bored, which just isnt true.

 

Yeah you are right about the threads now, in fact I'll quote my favourite part which sums up why the spam is all so bad right now:

Exactly, its as if the posts were never even made in the first place. People may as well be writing this crap into Notepad and not saving it.

I don't mind spam threads. I mean... by my own definition of Spam as threads that are useless to me. Cause I have a choice to not read them.

 

What I don't like spam wise is the conversations that go through threads that other people MIGHT JUST WANT TO READ.

 

I mean, if the conversation is about the topic then fair enough but a lot of the time it's all about how everyone is.

 

I don't mean to sound aggresive... but THE PM SERVICE IS THERE FOR A REASON.

 

If I go into a thread about "Hot Girls" for example, I expect to see some hot girls, not a conversation between Bob and Flo about how they got on with their date with Andrew last night.

 

It's like, someone will be reading a thread and see a friend of theirs, then feel the need to say "HI FLO :D:D:D:D". Can't you PM someone?

 

These are the type of posts that shouldn't NEED to appear. Even if someone made a thread saying "Hi Flo" and had a conversation with Flo I wouldn't mind.
