actually it has come about that the phone companies actually were illegaly GIVING them the records

apparently in Nick's world itd perfectly legal to steal phone records from corperations.....

What bush did with the phone records was legal.

I made a phone call to your mom asking her for sex last night.

Bush's mom showed up instead.

What a big disapointment.

So let's blame the whole phone record thing completely on Bush.

He's the leader of our country...so let's blame everything on him!

Even stuff he hasn't done!

I wouldn't blame this on Bush at all. His administration, some of the people he works with, yeah I'd blame them. But I don't know, I blame a lot of other people too. And things like this have happened in the past with other administrations. I'm sure if you did research on government surveillance you'd find a lot of things that would suprise you, it's something I think I might start doing.

I want to know who's reading my AIM conversations, that's all! :uhoh:

Deep, Nick. Real deep.

I don't like your sarcasm, I wasn't saying anything anti-Bush, was I? I think it's just a series of unfortunate events that's led us to this debate, it's not anything new.

How boring these debates have become. :snore:

Just going to tell you, that made no sense what so ever?

He'd be a bad president to be doing it... Well he's doing it. Does that make him a bad president?

Well I guess as long as you're on your knees in front of the government, you're ok. But for those of us who feel that the only way to be a human with free thought is to question all that affects us, well. We're probably having not-so-private phone conversations.

Good thing I never answer the phone. You know, you can say this is good, but you have to wonder if the stakes that we're playing at are worth it to "fight terrorism". It just seems so... WRONG to me. Deny us our freedoms that we're fighting to defend?? In the name of defending it? Is this what the terrorists want, to scare us into such a state where we start to lose our democracy that they "hate" so very much? It seems to me that the terrorists have succeeded then.

Bush is doing the right thing with the phone call list. He would be a bad president to be doing it.

obtaining the records without the companies consent?? Thats legal?? Where does it end?? Where's the democracy in that? Sound more like a dictatorship to me if the government is allowed to take any type of intel and information from its OWN citizens whenever the hell they want. So much for the Constitution... lol

Yes, for a country that preaches so much about freedom and democracy, it looks like you have none.

:(

sorry i forgot to add the word "not" He'd be a bad president for not doing it.

First of all it was legall and a good move by our goverment. Were not being denyed freedoms because of the war on terror. Our goverment is not turning into a facsist goverment or police state.

It is actually, the West always goes on about democracy, but to be honest we don't have a real say in anything, we're just made to think we are. The government don't give a monkeys about what the average person thinks!

Yeah, we dont have any.... go do some research please.

We our one of the most free countries on this planet. Colbert just showed the world that, he bashed our president for 24 minutes straight at his own dinner on national TV. and got away with it, guess we dont have any freedom of speech, i guess all the hundreds of thousands of protesters that call bush a facist and rally agaisnt him are another sign of no freedoms, how bout electiong our leaders, guess thats not freedom, how about our newspapers being able to print lots of things against our nation...hmm sounds like we have no freedoms.

they do, because that "average person" elects them.

 this is gold right here.......

Hey I'm old enough to know that essentially, you do not have as much of a say in how the country is run as you think you do. It's all ideological, and you're buying into it, and because of that, these governments will continue to pull the wool over people's eyes, but I understand it makes people feel better about their lives if they feel like they have some control over it.

thats bull shit....

if that were true... we would have never accepted all those refugees from Cuba in the 80's... nice try.

Not really. out of most the nations on this planet we have the most say in our goverment. we dont have all the say but its a hell of alot better then none. a little is better then none. but its obvious you dont even know what you're talking about with the freedoms.
