well, what makes a person ugly?

are we all that shallow?

what does an ugly person look like?

a person is ugly in my eyes ... when their character is just horrible.

so ... i might know loadsa ugly people that may look beautiful, but on the inside .... they're not pretty at all

who gives us the right to judge other people by their looks though?

a person is ugly when it's hard to like them or be close with them.

we can't judge someone's worth by what they were born with but still it's better to be with someone you're attracted to in some ways... it's the same reason babies are usually cute because we feel compassion for them.

when you say ugly the first thing which I think about is the physical appearence... 'cause I relate that word with it. Anyway, like you said, it's personality plays an important role, much more than the physical one.

Someone can be 'beautiful' on the outside but if they're horrible inside it makes them ugly. That's what I think anyway.

i think its who you like and who you dont like.....you wouldnt go around calling your friends ugly. whereas people who you dont get along with are mean and nasty and therefore you could say that they are ugly.

You are right with the personality thing....I mean I know people who could be seen as ugly but I experienced that their personality makes them pretty in some way...and this is cool.....I hate this superficial judgement!

i know that when I start getting closer to ppl, that aren't especially pretty or anything like that, they start looking better and better to me as i like'em more... like I think almost anyone would say his/her friends are relatively good looking.

 

and many ppl are good looking, but their personality is so horrible, it's not that they look ugly all of a sudden, they just dont look as good as they potentially can.

 

i would only say someone is physically ugly when i dont know them or dont like them, and there are certain facial features that divides ugly from none ugly, that's a fact. Like semitry is considered a good qaulity...

judge people by their looks is unfair, i think. i cant say what is ugly.. but i have this not really good looking friend, when i first see her i thought, well she's not beautiful, but when i started to get really close to her, i saw her reaaaaaaaaaally pretty indeed, cause she's kind, funny, down to earth, and smart. maybe it's cliche but it's true. now i only saw her as a really gorgeous girl.

I'd be lieing if I said that. I mean... I don't say "wow. you're not pretty i dont like you" but I judge people on how they carry themselves. Like, if someone who's not too beautiful looks like they make an effort to present themselves and take care of themselves, then that's not ugly. Ugly in my opinion is when someone doesn't take care of themselves and how they look. I mean. I've met people who have been walking around in tshirts with food stains all over them and jeans with grass all over them and shoes with holes in and I think "Wow... At least present yourself."

 

You may all deny it but I think if you organised to meet me irl. And I turned up dressed all like that I reckon about 90% of you would judge me on it. Not consciously, but without noticing. This is the same as me.

 

Sorry if this has offended anyone who wears dirty clothes :P I am aware some people look scruffy deliberately as a kind of fashion. I know myself that there is a difference between that and what I'm describing.

Well I guess I'll be the only honest one here. EVERYBODY judges people on their looks. It's human nature and it has and always will happen. We don't want to call people ugly or pretty based on their looks alone, but it happens. It is true that personality plays a role but let's face it people, you know the next time you see some greasy-haired, toothless, porn-stache, zit-faced, toothpick of a guy wearing a wife beater and a trucker hat that says "Howdy ya'll"........you might think to yourself "DAMN, now he's an ugly feller"

 

And I can make "ya'll" statements because I live in Arkansas.

well, i try not to judge anyone be their looks ...

i've got that girl in my form and she's repeating class for the second time and she's not very average (which means that she's not skinny and blonde and all perfect) ...

but she is such a nice girl and soooo sweet :) i really like her and all the people in her old form called her 'the monster' ... knobheads. she's so pretty inside in comparision to those people ...

I think there's a difference between ugly people on the outside and on the inside. Ugly people on the outside...well...it's subjective, though there are some that can't be clasified as good looking seen through any eyes, but it doesn't affect my opinions and my choices when it comes to friends. Ugly people inside are impossible to be around of IMO, and to me it's not just mean people,some obnoxious guys and boys are pretty ugly too

Its pretty simple, someone is not "ugly" if they have a horrible personality, there are a million words to describe a bad person and ugly is simply not one of them.

 

Being Ugly is a superficial word, thats the definition of it. A horrible person is 'horrible' or 'awful', they are not just bad to look at, but they are bad through and through. An Ugly person just looks wrong, end of.

I mean really, the majority of you are definately being a pack of liars in this thread. We all post in the Sexy Fit Men and Hot Girls thread, posting pictures of celebrities we have never met but simply feel sexually attracted to.

 

I've even seen people on here in the past, on those threads, write things like "I hate him as a person! But soooo hot...".

 

There's nothing wrong with it! Be honest, we are all a bit superficial, I know I am and I have no problem admitting it. When I see someone who's face just doesnt look good, they are ugly to me, its factual, and sometimes its insulting to lie about it, almost like mocking.

 

I can admit that, but I also say it doesnt sway my opinion of them as people, I would never let that happen.

 

So stop pretending for people who are reading your comments, I refuse to believe that most of you put this "Ugly is only inside! People dont even have faces to me!!!!" attitude into practice in real life.

Yes I can. I consider myself and my friends to be nice looking, and we get hounded by some guys we would consider to be 'ugly'. We can't help thinking it, it's just when you see someone for the first time all you have to base your opinion on them is their looks!

I'm honest, I always say what I think so here is my opinion:I wouldn't date with ugly guy, I wouldn't ignore the fact that person is ugly while talking to this person. But the point is ugly people are rare, sometimes it's just a question of taste. But if someone is really bad-looking...Well, I hope he/she has at least fine character, maybe it'll help somehow.

Yeah, no way would I go out with someone who wasn't A) Physically attractive and B) A nice person.

Nah, you're right. For example, me. I love skinny guys and most of girls like muscles. When I say to my sis that someone's attractive she says smth like you're kidding, he looks like a girl lol...But some people really are ugly, how unlucky they are.

I love skinny guys too! lol My friends make fun of me, but I can't help it!

It bothers me that people are judged on their weight though. I feel fat sometimes next to skinny girls, which pisses me off.
