May 14, 200620 yr In a thread made today I acknowledged the Poetic and Sensitive generation we have before us, one that cant really be stereotyped but exists as a stereotype. Another kind of stereotype are these superficial kids of today, and its much, much more dangerous and unhealthy, I think. My cousin is only 13 and shes constantly worried about superificial things like fashions, trends, shes always talking about whats cool, using the new buzzwords, shes freaking talking about getting a Dolphin tattoo! Is that not the lamest thing youve ever heard? Its getting absolutely ridiculous. She attends the same high school I went to. 5 or 6 years ago when I was there, there was rarely any trends. I remember the Hawk haircut that only a few kids got, and not much else. Now my cousin tells me on field trips, the guys are like "Oh god did you see him wearing Kappa trackies? Loser!" and now ALL of them are getting similar haircuts and following similar fashions. Its become such a culture in my area, every kid around the ages of as early as 11 to when they begin to grow out of it about the age of 17-19, is just becoming the same. And where has it stemmed from? LA. MTV and Paris Hilton. Pink pretty much summed it up in the idea for that 'Stupid Girls' song. These kids watch MTV all day long, and its brainwashing. The Fabulous Life and Cribs, has melted their brain into a desperate need for being wealthy and having ridiculous amounts of 'bling' and cheap ladies in their life. Have you ever seen 'My Super Sweet Sixteen'? Good lord! This sets such a horrible example. So now my area in Ireland is a mix of MTV trendy crap, and the culture that existed before it. The mix leaves a terrible, terrible taste in my mouth.
May 14, 200620 yr My Super Sweet Sixteen! YES! I have seen that, I could only laugh, even though it was pretty horrifying.
May 14, 200620 yr Author "Its so great because its MY day and everyone wants to get to MY totally hot party and Pauly Shore is going to be there and everyones going to want to get in but only I cant invite them so I have so much power over everyone right now and it feels soooo great" SHUTUP BIATCH
May 14, 200620 yr Hehe...well....actually i would say it is normal in this age..I mean that you care about those superficial things... I also hate this culture...especially on TV....therefore I don't watch TV that often... So.......behaving like this at this age is in human nature imo....and I think it is always supported by the media....so one generation it is stronger....and in one generation it is not that strong.... Oh God...even girls in my age like those MTV shows....ew....they are in my grade in school....I would say this is really lame... oh and about "My super sweet sixteen" it is one of the worst things I've ever seen!and in general about MTV.....I always thought it was a music channel...but nowadays it is a channel which shows mostly those unimportant shows....and if they show music it is always the same....except later in the evening..... They would have so many opportunities to make new music shows....haha...but they don't!Lame...
May 14, 200620 yr Author MTV are famous about their shit stuff Of course, but its getting to the level that its seriously affecting people on the otherside of the earth.
May 14, 200620 yr Of course' date=' but its getting to the level that its seriously affecting people on the otherside of the earth.[/quote'] i just don't watch MTV. those good times when they showed some nice videos have gone, money rules nowadays. it doesn't effect me anyhow, but i heard some of my classmates watch this shit to improve their English :freak:
May 14, 200620 yr to improve their english hahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahhaha.....Oh damn shit...
May 14, 200620 yr hahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahhaha.....Oh damn shit... yeah, watching the american slang definitely would help them  ...gosh
May 14, 200620 yr There is actually no MUSIC on MTV nowadays, only these stupid programmes, and I don't know anyone who actually cites them as a major part of their television schedule, thank goodness.
May 14, 200620 yr I agree, some kids today are just....They kill me by bothering about fashion too much, smoking when they're not yet 14 and having sex with every classmate. It's ridicuolus but sad at the same time. Where are we going to? Each next generation is worse than previous one.
May 14, 200620 yr I hate the Sweet 16 show. I'd slap my kids fucking silly if they ever acted like some of those kids act. Ungrateful little asses. I'm strict on my kids though. I want them to be polite, respectful, caring kids so they can grow into loving and responsible adults who appreciate where they came from.
May 14, 200620 yr "Its so great because its MY day and everyone wants to get to MY totally hot party and Pauly Shore is going to be there and everyones going to want to get in but only I cant invite them so I have so much power over everyone right now and it feels soooo great" SHUTUP BIATCH Aaah that programme is AWFUL! Me and my sister have a right laugh watching it...those kids are just unbelievable! Spoilt little brats. "NO MOM I TOLD YOU I DONT WANT THAT CAR! I WANT THE RED ONE WITH THE DROP TOP! Everyone's gonna be SO jealous of me in my hot car!" :smug: Ick. :sick2:
May 14, 200620 yr It seems a lot of young girls want to be Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, rich, spoilt wretches, who swan around doing nothing with their lives, not even finding time to eat a proper meal :dozey:
May 14, 200620 yr Those kids are just spoilt. On my Sweet 16 I was drinking chocolate milk with my friend in one cold russian court =\
May 14, 200620 yr yeah' date=' watching the american slang definitely would help them  ...gosh[/quote'] Yeah......and they language is limited on "Oh my God!" and "Wow this is amazing!" and "Oh my God this is disgusting" ahhaha.....I'm often shocked that they all sound the same...even if there are different persons in different shows.... One sad thing is that those kids are dominated by the media but do not realsie it because they are too young to realise it...
May 14, 200620 yr Kids grow up faster these days,my brother is 12 now and fortunately he's not too worried about getting drunk, smoking and hooking up with girls (alarming,I know, but that's what kids that age do nowadays), but I get shocked when I see the girls in his class with their cellphones attached to their neck (I'm 16 and I got mine last year), acting like adults but still being 12 with the hormones and all. Really sad.

Starting to sound like a conspiracy... No but seriously I agree, I mean I don't even watch tv nowdays as much as I used to, because most of it is crap such as O.C. and the likes.
May 15, 200620 yr The thought of this makes me sick. It usually turns back on 'em. There was a bit of a trend, where the boys got like the sides of their head, shaved, and left the rest, not like bald or anything, but short enough. 2 days later all the girls were laughing at 'em. I hate it so much. My friend, who I guess would be considered a 'nerd' , kept saying 'Gosh!' all the time, and everybody was like 'wtf did you just say Gosh!?, the next week, all the kids went and saw 'Napoleon Dynamite' and were saying it 24/7, my friend says it again and he gets some crack like 'you can't say it properly'. Teriible, I don't follow any of it. At all.
