I have to disagree with the whole capitalist money-making holiday thing. Maybe I'd say that about Valentine's Day or something but not mother's day. There's no job in the world that's harder and more under appreciated than being a mother. I never knew until I had my own kids. Mothers deserve more than 1 day a year to be recognized.

Oh no. I totally disagree. I'm definitely enjoying my day. It's the only day a year that I get to completely relax and do my own thing. Every other day is dedicated to my husband and kids...even my birthday cause it's on a national holiday.

Yeah I've noticed.....and gave my mum some flowers....

 

But somehow......I think mother's day should be the whole year...I mean the appreciation for your mother...and to help your mother...

maybe just nine months :P but really there's no way to repay one's own mother basically.

I think it is needed. How many kids do you know give their mothers the credit they deserve? None, that I know of. Husbands either. Most American husbands think that there's really nothing to being a mother. I know it's the one day out of the year that my husband cooks! Mother's Day makes us mothers feel that the work we do is important.

Which I get plenty of from other adults in my life. My kids are babies and therefore don't fully understand respect.

i miss the days when we were back in elementary where the teacher would set up these activities to make little gifts and crafts like picture frames for mother's day. they might not have been the most flattering but they were pretty sweet haha :cool:

 

now, i never know what to get her that could be "special"... plus it doesnt help when mothers say... oh, i dont need gifts, just behave well, do good in school, etc etc
