June 8, 200620 yr hey didn't see any thread like this up except one for the Embrace song ( which i just heard-- from all the negative i was glad to find it was actually a good song) So what's your countries football song? it would be nice to hear them/see them :) i know i'm gona get slagged for this but my all time fav would have to be the Ricky Martin song The Cup of Life.
June 8, 200620 yr Author In Australia football is called soccer (hopefully we'll come around) And there was this program called "song for the socceroos" the public wrote songs and performed them leading to just one song being chosen by judges and the public. Freedom of Thoughts "Green and Gold" won. i really like it cause its Hip Hop and you can bounce to it check out a snippet of it here (click preview button) http://www20.sbs.com.au/asongforthesocceroos/index.php
June 8, 200620 yr Thought the federation has gone back to calling the game Football in Oz (Football Federation Australia), same in NZ now (Football New Zealand) I think only the US calls in soccer now. Sorry, I am a trainspotter.
June 8, 200620 yr Author ^ i heard something about that but what i mean is that away from conference rooms people still call it soccer. so what's NZ football song?
June 8, 200620 yr omg ... we've got a song from Herbert Grönemayer who's a german singer. i don't like him cause the way he's singing is just plain weird. but my favourite footie song of all times prolly is that Three Lions song ... i love it ;) and the most hated one prolly is that stupid Love Generation song by Bob Sinclair ... my ears are still fucking bleeding :(
June 8, 200620 yr Oh there are many football songs in germany these days...I think the official one is "Zeit, dass sich was dreht" by Herbert Grönemeyer....another one is "54-47-90-2006" by Sportfreunde Stiller....these are just examples...I don't like them that much...typical football songs I'd say..hehe
June 8, 200620 yr German World Cup Songs... - Bob Sinclair Feat. Goleo - Love Generation (God, I hate it! Radio stations are playing it over and over again) - Herbert Grönemeyer - Zeit, dass sich was dreht (just awful) - Oliver Pocher - Schwarz und weiß (it's always playing when Germany will score a goal) - Sportfreunde Stiller - '54, '74, '90, 2006 (my favourite; it was so amazing at "Rock am Ring" :nice:)

June 8, 200620 yr The new English one by Embrace is rubbish, then again what do you expect from a rubbish band. In fact there has only ever been one good English football song. World in motion by New Order. Any song that has John Barnes rapping is alright by me.
June 8, 200620 yr ^^^ i dont mind that embrace one too much actually.... but i think englands football song will always be three lions plan and simple
June 8, 200620 yr Yeah that would be my second choice. I just think that world in motion is awesome because it's such a good pop song that you can listen to whenever. There could be no football for months and I'd still whack it on. To tell you the truth I can't remember the last time that I listened to 3 lions.
June 8, 200620 yr well that sportis song is pretty cool since it's got a cool background ... we just have to win this year ... mathematical formulas are never wrong ;) Exactly... :nice: 54 X 74 - 1990 = ... 2006

June 8, 200620 yr Yes - "World In Motion" is the best-ever "football" song. "Three Lions" was great too until it was "stolen" by Germany and the words were changed - this should never have been allowed!:( Embrace's song is OK as a song, but as a football song it sucks, as it's too dull. Football songs should have a simple melody that makes you want to sing along, and the Embrace tune doesn't have this. That's why the fans are much more likely to be singing "Is This The Way To Win The World Cup" (Tony Christie), "We're Gonna Win The Cup" (sung to the tune of "Hurry up 'arry, come on (we're going down the pub") and "Who Do You Think You Are Kidding Jürgen Klinsmann?" (sung to the tune of Dad's Army)!!:D That last one's pretty funny!! There's also a remix floating about of "From Paris to Berlin", called "From LONDON to Berlin (we're gonna win the world cup)"!!
June 8, 200620 yr ^ world in motion is a lot better than three lions in my opinion... I don't like world at your feet anyway our World Cup song hymna (anthem) is just horrible, it's a rap by some guy gimma
June 8, 200620 yr Author There's also a remix floating about of "From Paris to Berlin", called "From LONDON to Berlin (we're gonna win the world cup)"!! LOL would love to hear that :D
June 8, 200620 yr Author ^ was half joking but i'm on it..... perhaps it my smiley was aiming for a laughing one ( im using just keyboard ) how is everyone else posting emoticons?
June 8, 200620 yr i know i'm gona get slagged for this but my all time fav would have to be the Ricky Martin song The Cup of Life. Same :laugh4: its a good song .. at leats for a world cup
June 8, 200620 yr yeah but i mean im not sying i like him but u hear the song and u know its the world cup one ..
June 8, 200620 yr yeah but i mean im not sying i like him but u hear the song and u know its the world cup one .. Maybe - but unfortunately HE is singing it!!:P Anyway, the song of THAT world cup (France '98) was Dario G - "Carneval De Paris". That was both vibrant and memorable. It went down a storm in the clubs.
