Public Transport.....

Featured Replies

We have everything over here, buses, trains and the subway. I take a bus to school everyday, there are lots of different 'lines' so they'll get you everywhere, fast enough if you catch it in the right time. If you're heading downtown at 7am, I guarantee every bus you get on will be full, same thing if you're going the other way at 'round 5pm. Subway is the cheapest fastest mean of transport and I really love it, but there are only 5 different 'lines' so they might not get you where you want to go.

:( I wish we had a subway here,it sounds cool!!!!

Of course they do, 4 mins can make a difference between losing ur job or keeping it. That was someone else's case, but in my case, turning up late at school would mean that they wouldn't pay me for that week!

Yeah they pay you for goin to sixth form in the UK if u were wondering.

they pay you to go to school :shocked2: :o :shocked2: :o

god damn. why don't they do that in australia.

It really is,it's so fast! It takes like 20 min to go from one ending to the other, 1 or 2 min between each station. I love it

hehehehe :cool3: What does it cost to travel on there?

$0.7, against the 0.8 that buses cost. I think trains are even cheaper, but I don't really use it

here in toronto, the public transportation is called the TTC, and it costs waaaayyy to much. we have buses, subways, and streetcars. the only thing good i think about it is that on hot summer days, they always turn on the air conditioning really cool  but aside from that, i don't like to take it.

for students, like myself, it costs $1.70 for ONE ride.

I always wanted to live in a subway infested city...i would live at the statios, underground ...hop the trains and Be awesome

Yeah after sixteen you don't have to go to school, but they pay you if you do to motivate you.

They don't provide transport though, let alone fast transport... :P

i'd be very happy if they were paying you to go to sql here in Slovenia!!

its nothing to be proud of, getting paid to go to school. I mean, they set that up for many reasons.

THey don't want kids to be able to drop out so easily, so they make incentives.

of they Want kids to succeed even in bad circumstances

or poor children would school instead of drop out to work and start a family cycle of kids who drop out to make money

yeahhh, i live in toronto too and just a little while ago, the ttc people went on strike. i was sooo pissed.. .i have a metropass (a card that you can use for transport) but even still it's damn expensive...

Right, where i live the public transport is like this:

Buses - Running between 7:00 and 18:00, once every 70 minutes or so. Taking to andover bus station, costing £3.50 for a return.

Trains - Very good, but bit expensive.

I worked out for me to visit my best mate by bus would cost a fiver and need 3 buses

Well I guess it is nothing to be proud of,but I think it is a really good idea to keep kids in school, better than over here where they just drop out,but if they got paid to go,then they will stay and get better marks surely?

Talking about that EMA stuff, if I was one year younger I would have been able to get that :(

True.

Most of the country has mandatory primary school, 9 grades, and then 3 of highschool. Where I live there are 7 grades of primary school and 5 years of highschool, only because drop-outs are not so common here as in other places. You won't get a decent job unless you have completed highschool.

we have subway and buses and I hate it.. but subway it's ok I guess
