Crosby is a whiner.

I'm glad Plekanec showed him you can't try fancy one handed stuff in overtime. Souray has one rocket launcher of a shot.

I wonder when Buffalo, New Jersey, Detroit and Nashville are gonna clinch their playoff spots. :D

So we just lost Jaroslav Spacek for a few weeks with a broken hand and Paul Gaustad for the rest of the season with a torn tendon in his ankle. wtf

At least we're on a winning streak.

Haha yeah he is. It's a shame the Sabres already swept the Rangers this season so we still won't see him.

Lets face it, we probably won't see him in the playoffs either. :P

Stars acquire forward Nagy from Coyotes

DALLAS (CP) - The Dallas Stars hope Ladislav Nagy can help put them over the top.

Dallas acquired the speedy winger on Monday from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for a first-round draft pick and forward Mathias Tjarnqvist.

"Ladislav brings speed and skill to our hockey club and has proven to be a top-six NHL forward over his career," said Stars GM Doug Armstrong. "We look for him to come in and make an immediate impact on our roster."

Nagy is slated to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He became expendable after Coyotes GM Mike Barnett was unable to sign him to a long-term deal. He's earning US$3 million this season.

The push is on for the Stars, who are currently sixth in the Western Conference but trail Anaheim by just four points for first place in the Pacific Division.

Nagy had 41 points (eight goals, 33 assists) in 55 games for the Coyotes this season. He spent six seasons with the Coyotes, racking up 249 points in 321 games.

Tjarnqvist is more of a role player. He had four points in 18 games for Dallas this year and has 12 points in 69 career NHL games. The 27-year-old is earning the league's minimum salary of $450,000.

Phoenix now has two first-round selections at the upcoming entry draft in Columbus.

he may be the biggest asshole in the league, but he sure gets the players (and fans) fired up which is really what we needed. Hes a good fit for the Rangers. Don't worry you wont see him in the playoffs because you guys'll lose first round while we go ahead. Then you guys can wait for next year.

Well who knows what's gonna happen.

Anywho, I just saw that news on Nagy like 10 minutes ago. Phoenix just lost all hope of making the playoffs...damn.

Nagy is one of my favourite players but he just didn't seem to be doing that good in Pheonix this season. What I don't get is why they would trade him to a division rival...but I guess better get a 1st round pick then nothing since they were going to lose him to free agency.

Avery has something that Jagr doesn't: passion. But I will never have any respect for a goon who makes racist comments.

Preds Get Forsberg

zforsb3261.gifThe Nashville Predators have acquired Peter Forsberg from the Philadelphia Flyers for Scottie Upshall, Ryan Parent, a first round pick and a third round pick.

Forsberg was on the ice Thursday to take the warm-up skate before Philadelphia's game against the Maple Leafs, but he was scratched from the lineup.

Forsberg has 11 goals, 40 points and was a +2 in 40 games with the Flyers this season, while missing 16 games with a multitude of injuries. The Swedish center is playing out the final months of a two-year, $11.5-million contract, and will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.

Shanahan released from hospital one day after on-ice collision

NEW YORK (AP) - Rangers forward Brendan Shanahan was released from the hospital Sunday, one day after he was knocked unconscious and taken off the ice on a stretcher.

Then he made a surprise visit to New York's dressing room about an hour before the club's 2-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.

"It didn't hurt, that's for sure," Rangers coach Tom Renney said. "It was good to see him standing up."

The 38-year-old left winger sustained a concussion when he slammed into Philadelphia's Mike Knuble during the third period of New York's 5-3 loss to the Flyers on Saturday.

Shanahan skated toward the bench as Knuble came the other way. Neither player saw the other and they slammed shoulder-to-shoulder. Shanahan went flying backward and struck his head against the ice at 7:27 of the period.

He stayed down for about 10 minutes with his eyes closed. Shanahan was fitted with a neck brace and strapped to a board before leaving the ice.

Renney said there were no signs of neurological damage, and Shanahan left the hospital after a morning examination.

"He saw the neurologist and they are pleasantly surprised with where he is today," Renney said before Sunday's game. "It's not like he can play hockey in the next little while, but they're optimistic with where it sits this morning."

The biggest surprise was his appearance back in the locker room. Renney got a last-second warning before the star forward showed up.

"It was pretty inspirational to see him come when he is supposed to go right home and just rest," forward Matt Cullen said. "For him to go out of his way and do that shows how much he cares.

"It was really impressive."

There is no timetable for Shanahan's return to the lineup. Renney didn't know if the veteran of 19 NHL seasons has a history with concussions, but said he wasn't aware of any in recent years.

"Things settled down nicely overnight," Renney said. "It was a huge impact both ways. It'll take some time but we'll pay attention to what they're telling us.

"We'll rely on (the neurologist) and follow the appropriate instructions. So far it's much better."

Knuble broke the orbital bone and cheekbone on the right side of his face in the violent collision. He will undergo surgery in the next few days once swelling decreases.

Shanahan showed no other serious injuries other than the concussion, but is experiencing overall soreness.

"He's got a bit of a bruised shoulder, that's about it," Renney said. "It's like a car accident - everything hurts."

Shanahan, who leads the club with 28 goals in his first season in New York, delivered a simple message. He wanted his teammates to know he was thinking about them, and he gave them good luck wishes - expressing his desire to rejoin them quickly.

"He said thank you for all the phone calls he got from the guys, but he didn't remember who called," goalie Henrik Lundqvist said. "It was just good to see him smiling."

The Rangers didn't immediately make any roster moves, but Renney said Shanahan would be placed on the injured list - keeping him out at least seven days.

New York also lost defenceman Marek Malik during Saturday's game when he reinjured his left shoulder. Malik, who missed three games earlier this month, was to be examined Sunday at Madison Square Garden.

The only bright spot for the Rangers was the return of Lundqvist. He was felled early in the second period Saturday when a hard slap shot struck him in the left shoulder in an area not protected by padding.

He finished the period, but sat out the third as Renney rested him because of the back-to-back games.

After a night of icing the shoulder, Lundqvist made 21 saves for his 25th victory of the season.

"I wanted to get in right away and get a win," he said. "I know it's no problem, it's just pain."

Every contest is critical for the Rangers, who are fighting to make a second straight post-season appearance. New York entered Sunday's game in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, three places and five points below the playoff cutoff.

Rumor:Biron for Belfour and Roberts

From Adam Proteau's blog on thehockeynews.com

• Heard an interesting trade rumor from someone close to the Panthers organization over the weekend: Gary Roberts and Ed Belfour to Buffalo for Martin Biron.

Florida is looking for an improvement over Alex Auld and the Sabres could use a couple veterans (and soon-to-be unrestricted free agents) for their playoff push, so, unlike most rumors, this deal makes sense for both sides. It particularly suits the Sabres, who would not only improve their lineup, but also thwart the hopes of division rivals in Ottawa and Toronto, both of whom want Roberts for themselves

That was pretty funny

Although I'm surprised no one jumped in for Emery when he was fighthing Peters.

Hey I just got home from Phoenix today so I'm watching the Sabres game on tape haha. Yess what an awesome fight, though I feel awful for Drury... we're down 8 regulars. I'm quite excited for the rookies though; Pat Kaleta happened to graduate from my high school a few years ago and he did well in his debut.

Anyways, I said I just got back from Phoenix, and I was at the game last night... It wasn't really like the Sabres cause the Coyotes like to give the puck awa and stuff, but hey, they broke their 6 game losing streak. I think I'm good luck cause I've been to 5 hockey games this year, and every one has seen the home team losing, but then rallying to win. Anywho, here's some pics:

The Coyotes after scoring the OT winner

Oh yeah, they didn't have any Perreault jerseys at the Coyotes' Den, so I had to order one. I'll get it in a few weeks. =D

Good job for beating the Flames :)

yeah that fight was sweet haha! Is it just me or does it seem like the refs this year are totally bogus and making rediculous calls?

Awesome pic! Thats my favourite player. As much of a Flames fan I am, its always nice when somebody travels a long way for them to see the team they are cheering for win.

Carolina Hurricanes acquire winger Anson Carter from Columbus Blue Jackets

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - The Carolina Hurricanes acquired winger Anson Carter from the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday for a fifth-round draft pick in 2008, giving the defending Stanley Cup champions a scoring threat to replace a pair of injured forwards.

Carolina general manager Jim Rutherford had explored several trade possibilities this week to replace wingers Cory Stillman and Erik Cole and bolster the Hurricanes' push to make the Eastern Conference playoffs. Carolina entered Friday in eighth place, one point behind Montreal and one point ahead of the New York Islanders.

Stillman is on injured reserve with a knee injury, and Cole will miss at least two weeks after injuring his hip Tuesday.

"He's had some years where he's scored a lot, and Anson's a veteran player that certainly should be able to help us," Rutherford said.

Carter is earning US$2.5 million this season and will be an unrestricted free agent July 1. The 32-year-old Toronto native, who will join the team for its game at Southeast Division rival Atlanta on Saturday, was one of several names rumoured to be on the Hurricanes' wish list. Carolina didn't have to part with one of its 10 defencemen to acquire him, leaving open the possibility of another deal before Tuesday's trade deadline.

"We didn't use the assets that we have made available in respect to the fact that we have extra defencemen," Rutherford said. "I don't have anything that I'm looking at right now, but at the same time the fact that we have those assets, if something falls to us Monday or Tuesday, we have to look at it."

Carter has 10 goals and 17 assists with three power-play goals this season. The 10th-year veteran has 201 career goals and 219 assists during stints with Washington, Boston, Edmonton, the New York Rangers, Los Angeles, Vancouver and Columbus.

To make room for Carter, the Hurricanes returned Ryan Bayda to Albany for the second time this week.

Haha! That's super funny!

Isn't there one with the Sedins too?
