bart
Portugal winger Cristiano Ronaldo said he was "pleased" by the vitriolic reaction to his every touch in the World Cup semi-final loss to France. The crowd's response was thought to stem from his actions in the quarter-final win over England, when striker Wayne Rooney was sent off. But after Wednesday's match in Munich, which France won 1-0, Ronaldo, 21, said: "I was pleased about being booed. "Maybe France fans were upset to see a dangerous player. I'm not worried." Ronaldo preferred to focus on the performance of referee Jorge Larrionda, claiming the Uruguayan was biased against his side. "We played well and did our best but the referee didn't help us," said the Manchester United player. WORLD CUP BLOG The strength of anti-Portugal, and particularly anti-Ronaldo, feeling came as a genuine shock Our man at the Portugal-France game More on our World Cup blog "Everyone who saw the match could see that the referee wasn't fair. "He should have shown yellow cards but he did not because Portugal is a small country. "We just have to carry on working and then we will be a big country." Zinedine Zidane netted the game's only goal in the 33rd minute when he neatly stroked a penalty past Portugal keeper Ricardo. "Portugal showed that they can play good football," added Ronaldo. "France were no better than we were. They got a penalty but not much else. "We are disappointed not to reach the final after such a match. "We really wanted to go through but didn't make it. It is the end of our dream. But we have to congratulate France." Portugal now play tournament hosts Germany in the third-place play-off match in Stuttgart on Saturday. "We think of the next game now and hopefully we can win it," Ronaldo said. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am so pleased about this myself, it nearly means he wont be able to play anywhere... apart from his home country and it will be only a matter of time before they find him out.... hahahahhaa

mc_squared
I'm not surprised at Ronaldo's reaction, as it's patently obvious he's an arrogant, cheating tw*t. I hope Germany stuff 'em.;)
Flying Sparks
I think at this point you can't even react any differently. If he'd say how much he's hurt by English press or French fans booing, everyone would called him a wimp.. Oh wait, they already do :P
ColdPeug
Maybe RVN can stay at ManU now, as Ronaldo is now the person who seems to be the 'bitten dog' as we call it in Holland.

felicote
I dont see what the problem with C. Ronaldo is. He dives as much as any other forward in this cup. I mean, look at henry. So to say that he is a cheater for that is saying everyone is a cheater. And with the Rooney situation. Rooney fucking stepped on a dudes nuts. Anything Ronaldo did cannot be compared to stepping on someones balls. Plus, people say that since Rooney and Ronaldo are teamates he should not hve talke to the ref. But Ricardo Caravalinho is also Ronaldo's teamate, and if my teamates testicles are crushed by a player with a bad temper I will not hesitate to call it a foul either. Ronaldo is a cheat and a coward. True - Henry did cheat against Spain when he held his hands up to his face (and should have been punished for that), but Ronaldo is one of the most PERSISTENT offenders, together with Arjen Robben. He's become famous for it. I lost count of how many times he dived during the France game - it was disgraceful behaviour. Rooney was punished for what he did - no argument - but Ronaldo should also be punished every time he cheats. If any player tries to get another player booked or sent off in future, that player should get an automatic yellow card. It would soon put a stop to it. Players should also get booked for rolling over on the ground, too, as everyone knows that if a player does that, there's no way he can be really hurt.;) It's time to start cleaning the game up before it's too late and people stop watching............................
