We won’t do another album until we think we’ve written the best songs in history, and that could take a while. So we could be waiting, 20 years or 50 years. Who knows? Our next record seems like a long way away.

They're not going anywhere... just look at Chris' expression when he says that- he was just being silly again, and as usual, no one got it.

Haaa, they won't be gone for more than two years, if that long! If they are working on it non-stop, then it won't take 20 years. I'm sure of it. ;)

He's also said he's retiring at 40 to persue an education in classical music...One day there's a new album on the horizon, the next it could take 20-50 years...if you read enough press and interviews, you'll get used to it. It's just chris...either he's adult ADD, or he's playing with the media...which they deserve. It's probably a cmbination of both. Artists have strange temperments...one day they love their work, and the next, they think it's S**T! All I can say is 'Don't panic, everything's not lost, help...and maybe another Coldplay album...is juat around the corner'...lol!

I don't want that happen :\ We waited 3 years for listen to X&Y and i waited another 3 years to see them live but they didn't come although they promessed it :angry:

They've also sold 12 billion albums, put the 10percent they keep back for charity up one of their noses, planned to make 'the best record ever', planned to never make another record, been sick of themselves, been totally at ease with one=another...the list goes on and on...Chris is having a bit of fun with all of us!!! He's always changing his story and having a private laugh when he does...lol.They'll make a new record when they're ready and that's how it should be. With al the preassures put on them by the label and the media...and the fans...they shouldn't rush into an album they don't feel good about. CHRIS IS SUCH A SMARTASSS!!!...lol!!! These guys live for making music together and will continue to as long as they feel good about it...and it'll be worth the wait if there is a wait!

I think that was kinda clever to say. Now they have 20 years for making the best album ever, in peace, ´cause no one is expecting anything. :D

while it does scare me a bit, i dont really believe it. theyve set lots of different time frames, and only one can be right, so who knows if itll be this one. besides, they cant live without the music, either, so i seriously doubt theyd wait anywhere near 20 years to get an album out. they say they itch for the studio after a tour. i think its just chris being chris, and also saying what he'd like to happen in his perfect world. he'd like to wait that long to be sure the music's perfect, but he knows he cant wait that long, or jonny or guy or will, or us!

That's Chris's problem...the men lies a lot. But we love him, nevertheless :smug: .

I don't think it's lying...just artistic temperment...and a cool sense of humour! He changes his mind one day to the next...maybe he doesn't even know what he wants at any given time...he's pretty distractable...lol! All these contradictions are almost becming a part of Coldplay's 'personna'. Today I'm quiting, today I'm never going to retire etc. Have fun with it because I guarentee you Chris is!!
