two choices

do u think coldplay is becoming worse?

If the other choice is that they are becoming better, then I pick that one. I see really great music ahead for them.

Every band makes albums that not all of their fans like. Look at U2 and Radiohead. Coldplay will undoubtedly alienate some of their fans with each new album, and also attract new ones. Paraschutes means the world to me because it's the album that I learned about them through. But I can't say they're better or worse now. They're evolving, trying new things, with each recording. We may not always like every note, but if they're not allowed, by the fans, or the label, to expand their horizons, what's the point of their continuing to make music? That's what music is all about!!! Noone wants to stay in the same place with their job and music is no different.

but i am doubting that if these four guys are gonna continuing this kinda stuff in X and y ,cuz in this album it is just like that they are becoming more and more pop,but that is just my own opnion

what if they are likely to be talented drained

It's so old and played out that after two or three albums and bit of fame people start with the 'oh they sold out now and they're pop' garbage.

While they kept their signature Coldplay sound with all their albums, I don't think any of them are the same and they shouldn't be the same on every album. If they never branched out people would criticize them for being redundant.

I'm sure the next album will be a lot different too. I think their evolving, not getting worse.

never...they're so much better..and getting better everyday...hope they'll come out with a bang for next album...well, they will..everybody knows they will...

even though shris always said that they're sh*t....

well, for the next album, check out the other thread (called: new album).

As for better or worse:

As TracieMorgan said before, each album is gonna attract or repel fans, but it is also extremely hard to judge a band after three albums (no matter how incredibly good they are...hehe:smug:).

But if you don't like X&Y, or you prefer it to Parachutes, then that's good. It means that a part of Coldplay attracts you, and that will probably come out again in a future album. Also, you'll probably find that if you listen to some of the Coldplay songs that you feel are pretty average, after a while, they'll grow on you...and we're all happy.

I dunno, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but again, try not to judge Coldplay just yet - maybe wait another 20 odd years (isn't that what Chris said???)

Very well said!

A.

X&Y is shit compared to Parachutes or AROBTTH.

there's simply no originality on their latest album.

they are not getting either better or worse.

they stuck somewhere

I know you are entitled to your opinion, but I have to disagree with you. I know that X&Y has made Coldplay fans out of some people I know. And these are people who have pretty high standards for what music they listen to. I think that songs like Square One, Speed Of Sound, Low, and Til Kingdom Come are very original. X&Y is different from their first two albums, which is a good thing, it shows their music is growing. And yet, even tho it's somewhat different, the Coldplay vibe, their unique style, is still evident in the music.

i think i enjoyed AROBTTH and Parachutes more than X&Y as albums as a whole, but i certainly dont think theyre getting worse. its impossible to say after only 3 albums. if they had a long line of maybe 4 or 5 records after Parachutes and AROBTTH that i didnt consider on the same level as the first two, then maybe i would (extremely reluctantly) say they were getting worse. but in my opinion, they had two SPECTACULAR records and one really good one. just because i didnt connect as well with the third doesnt mean i think theyre getting worse. i may not have liked the second as much and then loved the third. i just dont think its enough albums to consider. theyre still progressing, and i see some absolutely fantastic new music ahead, changes and all. as someone said earlier, theyre evolving. once they stop evolving and find their musical niche, then we can evaluate more on their future quality.

i hope that made sense...

no.

It's just they're in everyone's consciousness so much and they have to try harder!

I totally agree with what you're saying. After all, X&Y is a big reason why I became a fan. I know to some of the fans it's shit but it still had something that made me love them enough to go out and buy their other albums and then come to this site. I don't know, some people don't give X&Y enough credit :( ...

thye definate will become better i will love their music no mattter what happens, but i have so much faith in them they are always so precise with their albums. so i know i wont get anything 2nd grade.

It dependes on how you see it...as I see it - they're still Coldplay. And I like them. But we'll have to wait the next album to see...but as long as there's Chris & piano...I'm sure I'll like it.

mhh ...

i guess we all know that X & Y was their worst album.

of course. it still was much better than other bands' albums, but coldplay have so much potential. +___+

i don't want them to continue with their X & Y kinda style because there were like 7 good songs on it.... :(

AROBTTH and Parachutes are without a doubt amazing, but you can already tell difference between those two record.

Parachutes was more acoustic-based... a lot of acoustic guitars and AROBTTH sounded a bit more electronic with a lot of piano in there.

X & Y is VERY electronic and i miss a lot of coldplay's old skill. yeah, you should always try to develop the sound, but X & Y was a step into the wrong direction.

i hate to admit it, but i think they became a tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny bit worse...

If I had to pick a favorite, it's probably AROBTTH. But it's a tough choice. My friend thought X&Y was crap compared to the first 2 until she heard the songs live. Now it's her favorite.

And Chris has already said in an interview that they've done the Coldplay sound and now want to move on. There will always be something for everyone on each album. And as long as coldplay are happy, I'm happy for them and will love what they do.

...unless, of course, it's an album of WestLife covers...EEEWWW!!!!!! lol.
