July 28, 200619 yr ...What would be included? Imagine you have the final say of what b-sides to include on a compilation album of coldplay b-sides released say early 2007 to fill the gap between X&Y and Album 4, what b-sides would you put on it.
July 28, 200619 yr A mix of old and modern A mix of live and studio Bigger Stronger One I Love (live from somewhere) Easy To Please Animals How You See The World I Bloom Blaum Moses (live) Careful Where You Stand See You Soon (Live Glastonbury 2002 - how could you not end with this)
July 28, 200619 yr Author BTW, Ian is this in the right section of the forum, because I was spilt between here or in the general colplay chatters (f=16)
July 28, 200619 yr okay, let's clear up something. a b-sides album means at least 14-15 tracks for me. normal case = 17 probably they might have around 20 during their 3 albums. i would drop 3 b-sides from X&Y (Gravity - you messed up it Chris when you gave it to Danny) (Pour Me - unfinished, i hope they will re-release it) (TWTUD - but it's dreadful) and 2 from Parachutes era: (No More Keeping My Feet On The Ground - listened to it twice, was enough) (Easy To Please - NO!) 20-5 looks fine for me, 15 songs with a good mix = better than X&Y
July 29, 200619 yr Coldplay's only b-sides are (might be missing a few live tracks): Only Superstition Easy To Please For You Careful Where You Stand No More Keeping My Feet On The Ground Help Is Round The Corner Brothers & Sisters (New Version) Shiver (Live) Bigger Stronger (Live) You Only Live Twice (Live) One I Love i bloom blaum 1:36 I Ran Away Crests Of Waves Animals In My Place (Live) Yellow (Live) Murder Lips Like Sugar (Live) Politik (Live) Things I Don't Understand Proof The World Turned Upside Down Pour Me (Live) Sleeping Sun Gravity How You See The World (Live) Just because a track isn't on an album doesn't automaticly make it a b-side. For a song to be a "b-side" it has to be on some sort of single format that is not the a-side. For me, I would use of them minus the live tracks and any alternate versions. Just leave it to the standard tracks. Dave
July 29, 200619 yr Author But if you used all those offical b-sides, would it all fit onto the single disc? They should do a b-side album, so that fans in america or other places where your can't always get the orginal single without paying over the odds for an import.
August 1, 200619 yr My dream-album would be the following: Easy To Please Only Superstition For You Help Is Round The Corner Spies (live op Lowlands 2000) One I Love (live) i bloom blaum 1.36 I Ran Away  :rolleyes3: Animals Murder Proof The World Turned Upside Down Sleeping Sun Gravity How You See The World (live)
August 10, 200619 yr B-Sides & Rarities! I think that the best way to do a b-sides collection (really, it's not an album) is to be completely exhaustive. I think they ought to wait awhile, and after they've done another album or two, release a box set. The Cure's Join The Dots is a phenomenal example of this. It's got every b-side, all the remixes and one-offs that appeared on comps or in magazines. They should trash any live versions of songs that appear on proper albums (but songs like Lips like Sugar & Mooie Ellabogen could be on there), and also any crappy edits or radio versions of songs, because really, who cares? If I want to hear Yellow or The Scientist, I want to hear it in all it's glory, not some cut down hacked job. And they should include ALL the cool stuff, like the Clocks remixes (but only one version of each remix, we don't need the instrumental version or any remix that's a daft close-to-the-original uninspired turd) and especially the Alpha Remix of Yellow, as that's the greatest! And the track listing ought to be in chronological order, so you can follow their progression! That's how I feel anyway :)
August 10, 200619 yr My pick'd be... Easy To Please For You Careful Where You Stand No More Keeping My Feet On The Ground Help Is Round The Corner Bigger Stronger (Live) You Only Live Twice (Live) i bloom blaum I Ran Away Crests Of Waves Proof The World Turned Upside Down Sleeping Sun Gravity
