UK - Plot to blow up planes foiled

Featured Replies

I am scared now' date=' about flying... better not bomb my flight ![/quote']

I know it gets safer and safer to fly, but I can't help be a little nervous. I'm flying on Thursday. Security on flights to and from the UK is tighter than ever, so I shouldn't be worried...but I'm still getting butterflies in my stomach.

I visited NYC the first time when I was 19. The first thing I did was come upstaris from Penn Station to stare up at the WTC. I was over-whelmed by it's sheer magnitude! It shook me on 9/11 that something that massive could be brought down. I can only imagine how ppl living there must have felt. Your post mede me cry a little.

you can't see the WTC from Penn Station... maybe you took the PATH train?? That led you right into the heart of the Finanical District.... Penn is in Midtown.. 34th St. --What you was was probably the Empire State Building.. ;)

It was definitely the WTC...the Empire state only has the one tower I think...lol! But you're probably right about the train. My friend and I said we wanted to 'survive the Subway'..lol. This was in 1990, and I've only been back once. Sorry 'bout that!

Well I am very glad that they got them. It is weired, because about 4 weeks ago I was on a Unitted plane leaving London's airport. I can't spell that name. Hethro??

righty-o you are missy!

You probaby took the PATH.. however the subway lines that you can reach at Penn (1,2,3, A,C,E)-- do lead you downtown as well.. I believe the C and E trains take you down to WTC. ;)

"hey've known about this since 1998.

i haven't read through this entire thread, but i can tell you i worked at 5 am this morning and it was pure chaos because people didn't know what was going on here in the states. my mom flew down from new hampshire and was 20th in the security line- it took 2.5 hours to go through the 19 people in front of her. this is only second to 9/11.

and i can tell you all that, regardless of any security measure, any law that may be put into place, the bottom line has always been- IF SOMEONE WANTS BAD ENOUGH TO BLOW UP A PLANE OR SUCH, THEY'RE GONNA DO IT.

i also hate to be the bearer of (more) bad news, but there are common everyday items- not necessarily even liquids- that can be combined together and blow a plane up.

the most important thing anyone can ever do is to be aware of ALL your surroundings- weather in your own home or at the airport."

care to post a link, so we can check your sources?

I really hope you mean "whether in your own home or at the airport". Cos well, I appreciate how bad weather is responsible for about three times as many plane crashes as terrorism, but well, the weather doesn't change much indoors

I think she meant 'whether', but it's right, if someone wants to blow a plane up, they will get a way to do it.
